Trinidad James To Address “Every New Yorker” On New Project Dropping Today

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rapper Trinidad James is apparently set to release his manifesto about New York City today. The “All Gold Everything” performer sent out a series of tweets over the weekend announcing he will be releasing a project called The Truth Will Set You Free specifically addressed to New York rappers and fans.

He continued his announcement on Instagram:

To Every New Yorker. On Monday “The Truth Will Set You Free” comes out. No album…Just the truth. You gonna want to look and listen to this. God is my witness I had to pray about this. This is what you wanted so I gave it to ya. The Real.

Trinidad started another discussion about the current state of New York Hip Hop last week when he said “the South runs New York” during a performance in the Big Apple. The remarks led some NYC rappers like Maino to take shots back at Trinidad. Other rappers from the city partially agreed with Trinidad’s sentiment that southern Hip Hop dominates New York airwaves and clubs.

  • Guess its show and tell time for TJ, hopefully its not his fall…hes made ok Music and was respected by some for his interviewing skills but he definitely doesnt get any credit for being at least a ok rapper even though “Dont be S.A.F.E.” was a dope Ep

  • Live Well

This guy is even more desperate than I thought.

  • Wow, Its seems like Trinidad James gets Cockier everyday. I know that what alot of artist always wanted to say but they have good relations with NYC so they kept mellow.

    • Live Well

That’s not cockiness, that’s desperation. Did you see the crowd, or lack thereof, in that bar he was “performing” at? The handful of nobodies that was there didn’t even react to him on stage and it pissed him off. He knows he’s bout done so he basically threw a desperate hay maker.

“Brown has no formal training in cartography, but he did study architecture…”

I stopped reading after that and laughed a little. then I felt sorry for you because:

        1. you have zero credibility across the globe
        2. you probably can’t spell/say the word cartographer without help

        Anyway, Gotham=NYC while Jersey= bunz (hot-crossed btw)

    • Casor_G

That’;s how we feel about you New York dudes…”Son!!!”

      • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

        u bit(hes is my sons!

    • iamwhoiam

Man I’m from Dallas Texas, I grew up on east coast rap as well as south. Downhere we got just as many dope rappers as the east even QUEENS!!!!!! We even have just as many garbage azz rappers as the east especially QUEENS!!!!!

      • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

stfu nicca and go keep mowing ur crackers lawn QUEENS!

      • iamwhoiam

      • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

nicca Fu(k u and ur bum asssss retard kids. QUEENS U BIT(H U!

      • DJ7

Don’t kid yourself…you have a couple of cats that can go and I say that loosely b.u.t. to say you have just as many dope MCs as NYC is a wild stretch of the imagination!

      • iamwhoiam

Aight, but I ain’t hearin much from NY as of right now. Just a bunch of whining. Dope to me might not be the same as you see it. I can respect your opinion but, agree or not “the south got smethin to say”. ALSO, don’t forget all them Cali niggas doin it. I get it…Ny is the birth place of hiphop but, hiphop moved away once ya’ll started mistreating it. We’ll look out for it till someone decides to take it back.

      • DJ7

Nah fam, you’re confusing the direction white businessmen decided to take their brand of hip hop with NY abusing it…trust, NY still putting out heat…the only problem…there’s no financing behind it so it stays underground and less popular yet still dope …the few clowns that are on right now and claim to rep the city really isn’t a fair representation of NYC….they are merely tools of the big business’ model of hip hop…huge difference…perception is a mudda fugga and right now it appears NY is down b.u.t. that’s all in who you ask…As for Cali…I agree, they got dope, traditional hip hop artist over there that I rock with b.u.t. they too, as a whole, lack the support as their bigger budget counterparts…besides, they are not the south…I was basing my comment off of your initial one of the South having just as many dope MCs…at the end of the day, you’re right when you said it’s really all up to the listener’s personal taste and their definition of dope…so personally, I will stand behind NY MCing over Southern rapping any day of the week

      • Casor_G

There’s no financing because it isn’t dope. Only person feeling that hieroglyphic mumbo jumbo you all are spitting is….you all…

      • DJ7

I forgive you as you know not lil guy…ignorance is a choice…stupid is a condition…right now you’re the epitome of both…

      • Casor_G

So now we move to personal insults. You NY cats are like sports fans blaming the refs when their team gets beat. Nah duke, the other team is just better, the game evolves. Once upon a time NY ran the industry but the game has evolved. Folks don’t have to copy your style in order to gain acceptance, instead you all have to adapt. Stop blaimng the refs and play the game the new way. That Raider football ain’t winning no more Al. ahahahaha

      • DJ7

You’re right, the insult was uncalled for…my apologies
As for hip hop…I stand firm…there are too many factors to name as to why sh*t hop is winning right now b.u.t. a change is on the horizon…you’ll see…it’s happening as we speak

      • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

our music is classic 30 plus years ago. will we say the same about your favorite down south artist? don’t worry Ill wait. deep down u know we right!

      • iamwhoiam

Yea 30 plus cause hiphop started there. Ya’ll been in a drought for some time now. Ya’lls time is up. The balls in somebody else court for now. Except it. Ya’ll laid the blueprint but your hottest Ny rapper is using south beats, rhymes, and style. Shit u got Ny rappers signing with southern artist. C’mon man! Oh my bad, C’MON SON! Ya’ll ain’t had nobody since 50 (QUEENS!!!) Stop hatin, it is what it is. I got respect for East Coast rap but, ya’ll some salty mufukas. Some of ya’ll. Ya’lls rappers fukd up and let hiphop run off.

      • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I notice u didn’t answer which one of your artists from the trap rappers from the south will be remembered in 30 years? Shi*, will go 10-20 years? when u didn’t answer my question me and my QUEENS niccas laughed because u know we right. FU(K BOY!

      • iamwhoiam

T.i. , scareface, outkast, goody mob, b.o.b. 8ball & MJG I can name more. I get what you sayin but, you don’t give the South ANY credit at all. We got some credible artists down here too…nicca! I mean I live here you live there…agree to disagree. Hiphop is gonna evolve it’s gonna move around. Shit look at China, they been fukn with hiphop since the “36 chambers” days. Just give a lil credit where credits due.

      • Casor_G

Man you NY cats always think you tip top. You got nice MCs and so does everyone else. Your era of hip-hop dominance is over bruh. It’s bigger than y’all now.

      • DJ7

Really? NY MCing is the blueprint…ask your favorite rapper who his favorite rapper is…NY hip hop will forever live on whether you acknowledge it or not…your lost

      • $18592567

doc the only dope rapper from Dallas. ever

      • brotha_man

i agree texas is the new york of the south “respectfully speaking”. I salute texas, lots of dope artist there

No matter what your favorite type of rap is in the Hip Hop genre. You must always recognize and respect New York rap. At least for what it was and what it has done for the music. Love and Hip Hop got it looking like caramel apples, but NY Hip Hop is NY Hip Hop. I’m from TX and know this. Ha, I wonder what Trinidad really has to say. All this from the Rosenberg beef?

  • JUSROMAN

I see alot of people hatin on TJ for his honest opinion, understood. But at least he had the balls to not only speak his mind, but hang for a few days afterwards in NYC. I don’t think his comments was a PR stunt or an attempt to get a lil shine; they invited him to the show, asked him the question, and he gave an answer. He might not be the best at what he does, but at least the man can really keep it 100%. Much respect to Trinidad James.

    • DJ7

Don’t be so naive….his situation @ Def Jam is in shambles and they need to recoup ASAP…It’s business…the only way to garner “ANY” attention to his upcoming project is to create controversy, otherwise who’s checking for Trinidad James? Honestly, who?

      • JUSROMAN

True that about his career situation and all bruh, but I still think he was just being honest about how he felt about the NYC rap game. But tell me this, was he lying???

      • DJ7

Not at all b.u.t. I don’t want to hear it from someone of his caliber….if these PD’s had any balls they would stand up and speak how they really feel. The tired excuse of it being their job is getting about as lame as the music they program their stations with

      • iamwhoiam

You don’t wanna hear it from someone of his calibur??? Well who would you like to hear the truth from? I think ny is upset cause it bugs the shit out ya’ll that it’s true. Like he said on worldstar, right message…wrong messenger.

      • JUSROMAN

Regarless of his caliber, he still spoke the truth.

      • iamwhoiam

Apparently NYC was. It wasn’t open mic, that dude got booked.

      • DJ7

Man please…that sh*t ain’t a popping club, more like a lounge and it wasn’t @ capacity…you’re reaching with that one

      • iamwhoiam

That’s beside the point. TJ got booked by NEW YORK promoters, and has been getting booked by them. Check out TJ’s response on worldstar. As much as u hate to admit it, that man has a fan base in New York. If he didn’t, nobody would book dude at all and ya’ll wouldn’t even know his name.

  • iamwhoiam

I’m not the biggest TJ fan but, somebody listenin to his shit. I hear him on the radio everyday. I’m sure he’s gettin 0 spins in NY now though. That man’s just speakin his mind. I’ve seen a few interviews with credible NY mc’s sayin the same thing he said. How come nobody’s pissed off at them????

  • iamwhoiam

Right now I gotta say, Hip Hop lives in the west and travels back and forth to the south. Sometime vacationing in the east for a short time in the summer…

    • Mr.CPT

      I AGREE!!!!

    • $18592567

      West Coast rap is ass

      • iamwhoiam

HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE….You sound like them salty NY rappers. It’s that type of shit that has DAMN NEAR killed that classic NY sound. EVERY HOT NY ARTIST IS BORROWING THE SOUTHERN STYLE. It’s fact listen to New Yorks very own version of TJ, who goes by the name French Montana. Shit NY labels won’t even sign NY artists. Stop pointing the finger at the south and west. NY HAD IT AND LET IT GO. U should do the same…

      • $18592567

The West new sound is all old school East Coast nigga… Kendrick rap like old school back Mos Def and Talib and OFWGKTA rap like the Grave Diggaz. Do ya homework…

      • iamwhoiam

I agree, and I’ve done my “homework” shit bro I still have those albums on cd. They sometimes do remind me of the old east, but they also have they’re own sound too. Shit maybe they payin homage…funny u made that coment though, cause the new east coast sound is THE SOUTH. I guess ol’ yuck mouth TJ has a point huh?

      • $18592567

Trinidad was tellin’ the truth, but he let the politics shake him up… I don’t even think it was Maino too much, but he just did kid sort of apologize. funny stuff.

this feels like that time MC Hammer was promising a crazy Jay-Z diss and then put out the video…RUN FOR IT……nobody expected a hot track from Hammer and nobody is expecting a hot track from TJ…I’d be more entertained if him and Maino fight…i don’t care who win either

  • $48291066

First of all NYC has NO lack of talent when it comes to hip hop or any other genre and that’s a fact. Now the fact that the radio wants to play southern sounding records and keep pushing that double time hi-hat bullshit is on them. But as far as talent wise…You can’t tell me or any other real nigga. If we put the top 10 MCs whether underground or mainstream and place them against your southern top 10 you cant literally say that the south will even have a small chance at competing.

Mr. James bet not be bulls***n or its closed curtains. Ion listen to bruh no way but I will check it and respect it or say F*** that S***. Just my two abrahams….

  • StupidHipHopStuff

Who gives a f*ck about this bum ass no talent. Rap today sucks some dick, nothing interesting.

  • brotha_man

he starting to take this alittle too far. If new york is not “New York” put ur money were ur mouth is and battle….until then STFU

    • Immortal

I’m going to be optimistic on this and wait and see only because he said it’s either the rise or the fall. This fall should be from the Empire state, and wind up as some nappy a$$ed street pizza when he lands.
