Authorities Force The Cancellation of Ice-T’s Art of Rap Fest In Dallas After Cop Shootings

SHOULD THIS EPIC SHOW HAVE BEEN DEADED?

(AllHipHop News) Public Enemy, Ice-T and other classic Hip-Hop artists were slated to play at the Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas on Saturday. However, the Art of Rap festival for that date has been cancelled by authorities.

“It was the perfect storm,” Chuck D in a statement. “The worst thing that ever could happen happened after the worst thing that ever could happen happened after the worst thing that ever could happen happened.”

Last week, the several people were killed by the police and then several police were killed by a lone gunman at an otherwise peaceful protest rally.

The Public Enemy front man did not object to the cancellation.

“It’s understandable,” said Chuck D on the group’s site, publicenemy.com. “There’s nothing can be said here. We have to let it rest for a while. It’s beyond music and a concert. To go in there Saturday? It would be inappropriate.”

Police have denied that they had anything to do with the cancellation, which includes a bevy of other Hip-Hop legends like Mobb Deep, Naughty By Nature, MC Lyte, and more.
