(AllHipHop News) Back in 1998, DMX pulled off a big feat by releasing two albums in one calendar year.

It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot arrived in May of that year, and it was followed by Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood in December.

Fader published an article about the creation of Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood.

Many of the people connected to the LP gave insight about the 3-time platinum project, including DMX.

“[Island Def Jam Music Group co-president] Lyor [Cohen] said if I could do another album in 30 days, I’d get a million-dollar bonus. That was the whole drive,” said X.

The Yonkers native added, “I wanted to get that bonus. So I wasn’t playing with that whole studio sh-t. I wanted to get it out. The first album had 19 songs, so I already felt like I was cheating a little bit by giving them less songs than on the first one.”

Both It’s Dark and Flesh Of My Flesh landed at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

DMX became the second rapper to release two chart-topping albums in the same year, following 2Pac (aka Makaveli) dropping All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory in 1996.
