The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’ Album Opens With Third Highest Sales Week Of 2016

THE CANADIAN SINGER-SONGERWRITER IS AMONG THE TOP THREE FIRST-WEEK SELLERS OF THE YEAR

(AllHipHop News) The Weeknd’s first album since his breakout LP Beauty Behind The Madness is an early commercial success.

Billboard reports the new project Starboy will land at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart after earning 348,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release.

That total puts The Weeknd in the third place for first-week sales numbers of 2016.

Starboy is only behind Drake’s Views with 1.04 million units and Beyonce’s Lemonade with 653,000 units.

Beauty Behind The Madness also opened at #1 in 2015.

The set collected 412,000 album-equivalent units in its initial week.
