Country music superstar Kenny Chesney recently reminded 50 Cent and Kanye West that he too is a contender for the #1 spot on the charts on September 11, the day the two world famous rappers' albums hits stores.

Chesney's 11th album Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates, is due in stores the same day as 50 and Kanye's albums, the third release for both artists.

''It's funny how with every record that comes out, we're aware of the urban [competition], and none of those acts acknowledge that I exist, until I have that No. 1 debut on the Top 200," Chesney told EW.

The country music star's album should give 50 Cent and Kanye West good cause to worry, as it could relegate either 50's Curtis or Kanye's Graduation to third place on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

Cheseny's last four albums have debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 chart, including The Road and the Radio, which actually topped the soundtrack to 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' when the album hit stores in November of 2005.

Still, 50 Cent believes Kanye West is no competition.

"To have people come out and say it’s a bout, it ain’t no bout or competition,' 50 Cent told AllHipHop.com. "The guy [Kanye West] will say to you right away, 'I don’t mind being number two.' He’ll make the statement, ‘cause it’s clear that there ain’t no competition like that."

"It's something really great for Hip-Hop," West said during an appearance on the UK's The Friday Night Project television show this past Friday (August 17).

"50 Cent he's a pretty intimidating guy," West said. "I don't want to go to war with him, I just want to put out my album. I really like 50, I don't want him to retire once my album sells the most."

West than pleaded: "50 do not retire, once my album sells and beats your album."

For now, West can claim the #1 spot in the UK.

The rapper's hit single "Stronger" has hit #1 in the UK, giving the rapper his first chart-topping single in the country.

West is slated to play a secret show in London tonight.

I like how the country cat called the industry out and he is feeling like he can compete...but why he calling the rap releases urban? I'm not feeling that label at all mayne...both these cats (50 & K.West) are ballin and live in the burbs. Their ish is not Urban...at least not to me and maybe 50's ish USED TO BE Urban...but that is no longer the case.

F*k these stereotypical labels people try to use on people mayne.

Kanye will not be #1...I promise you.

I hope Kenny Chesney outsells both Kanye and 50.  They were foolish to think that only their albums would be selling on that day.  This further proves that all rappers care about is album sales, instead of album substance.   Peace to Little Brother/Get Back 9/25.

50 and Kanye need to get off that Buloone Mind State : ego trip, ego trip, ego trip, ego trip, ego trip, ego trip, ego trip.

50 and Kanye should both be worried.  Country music is hip hops only competition.  It is very hard to knock a country album off of the #1 spot, this country loves their country music. I've only seen it done once and that was when DMX's first album debuted at #1 back in 97' knocking Garth Brooks off of the #1 spot.  This will be interesting.

I think everyone here is forgetting something, Country music fans are FAR more likely to buy albums than hip-hop fans due to the fact people that listen to Country music are less likely to download music than fans of hip-hop, rock, electronic dance music etc. I think this guy will probably either take the #1 or #2 spot. But who knows? It just depends on how many people will still by the records after they inevitably leak online before the release.

This is definitely true... country fans are more loyal than hip hop fans.. and this guy's tour has been one of most successful in recent years... We need to stop living in our own world. This guy can defintely take the number 1 spot easily...

I don't think it's about overall album sales..It's more so a battle between hiphop artist and that's something Kenny publicist should've spoken to him about..Now that he through this shit out here he's showing he wants the #1 spot no matter what genre of music is out at the time..Based off this stunt right here I think he'll take it because overall country outsells hiphop year end and year out..Country don't stand a chance of competing with hiphop when it comes to the overall influence of products sold and the youth..Bottom line is there are more white people buying hiphop/rap than black and since it's more of them period i think old boy will trump Ye and 50..Now if another big country act was dropping as well it would be more interesting but everybody ain't getting both Ye and 50 albums so ol boy will get both of them by at least 100,000..

Do your homework son. Regardless of what you think.. country music is outselling hip hop crazy right now! Maybe not in ringtones (lol) but in actual album sales.

No disrespect to you, but if you think son is a nobody... you really aren't in tuned with the industry. This dude is putting it down.

maybe i came off wrong. let me reiterate. Compared to Kanye and 50, who do you hear about more? them correct? whether he moves a lot of units or not, because he isnt known all over the place (like these two are) makes him irrelevent when compared to the two. kanye and 50 are known all over the US and are internationally known just because of their exposure. you think if good ol boy kenny goes to the UK, will he have as big as a fan base that 50 or kanye has? i believe he is upset due to the press that the media darlings are getting. he feels he is left out and he isnt well known like they are or as much as he should be. i can tell you that a person who knows nothing about hip hop or country can tell you who 50 or kanye is and they wouldnt know who kenny chesney is.

there is no disrespect, after all this is only text. :)

i think dude is just being a baby about the situation. he moves units (a lot of units) but i guess that isnt enough for him. he doesnt have the fame that a kanye or 50 has and he's just being a straight up baby about it. so that is what i believe those comments are coming from. all it is, is just industry complaining.

i also believe that because country music isnt as controversial as any other genre that companies see this and they dont push country music like that. very rarely you see a country star put out a nation wide commercial. im not sure if "controversey" is the word but they rarely want to have anything to do with country artists.

Don't discount the country music audience - they are serious about their music. Also, take note that hip-hop sales in general are down over the last 7 years. According to Time magazine:

"While music-industry sales have plummeted, no genre has fallen harder than rap. According to the music trade publication Billboard, rap sales have dropped 44% since 2000 and declined from 13% of all music sales to 10%."

No doubt 50 and Kanye will move some units, but there's a whole swath of people across the midwest of this country that are all about Kenny Chesney.
