Rev Run Makes Triumphant Return to Madison Square Garden

Hip-Hop pioneer Reverend Run will make a triumphant return to Madison Square Garden during a sold out performance this Thursday (May 15).

The Run-DMC co-founder and Run's House reality TV star is in the midst of an international trek with Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and J. Geils Band member Peter Wolf.

The critically acclaimed show flows more like one fluid performance, with artists from different genres performing with each other during the concert, which draws fans of all races, creeds and colors.

The show marks Reverend Run's first appearance at Madison Square Garden since 1988 and is Lynyrd Skynyrd's first ever appearance in the venue.

"Here it is 2008, 20 years later. I can't believe that God has allowed me to perform at the Garden once again," an enthused Reverend Run told AllHipHop.com. "Me, Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd? You can't get more diverse than that. It's sold out. I'm excited."

The appearance is a homecoming of sorts for the rapper, who first introduced his legendary catch phrase that was popularized in the movie Krush Groove.

"This is a big deal for me," Reverend Run told AllHipHop.com. "The Garden was the first place I screamed 'Whose house?' and they all screamed Run's house!"

The phrase, which was also turned into a hit single in 1988, also serves as the intro music to Reverend Run's hit reality show Run's House.

Prior to Reverend Run's appearance at Madison Square Garden, the legendary rapper will meet and greet fans at the Foot Action on 34th St and 7th Avenue.

What's up AHH crew.  I am new to this forum.  Like some of the other ones here, where is DMC?  After JMJ was killed, RUN retired the group saying nobody could replace him.  So here he is performing their old hits with some white cat.  But in all due respect, DMC has lost his once powerful voice and can't perform their old jams like he used to.  I dig Run's show though.

Run did DMC hella dirty after JMJ died.  He didn't tell DMC his plans before announcing the 'end' of Run-DMC altogether.  He entirely blindsided DMC at that news conference.

He left DMC out in the cold and went and got caked up courtesy of Russell by becoming head of Phat Farm's footwear division.

He didn't look out for DMC and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't attempt to reach out to DMC for this Madison Square Garden show.

How is Run gonna be at the garden performing without DMC?

Until Run does right by DMC, I just can't rock with him.

I respect what you did for the game, but you went out like a sucka.

It's funny how Run can have all of these stars on his show, but has never ever had DMC on there.  He has had Ja Rule, Diddy, and mf'n Kid Rock, but never his main homeboy.  Run could have had The Beastie Boys  dj, DJ Hurricane, replace JMJ.  Shit, those guys toured together.  If anyone knows Run-DMC songs it would be Hurricane.

That's okay though DMC is working with DJ Johnny Juice from Public Enemy and his album will be out soon.

I believe Rev Run is on some fake shit. Yea I said it! I mean everybody knows that Russel Simmons and Run screwed DMC outta a lot of money. Hell I'm just 21 and I know that. There is no loyalty, even amongst these old niggas.

Lynard Skynard performed at that show too?  I wouldn't be too surprised to see a lot of confederate flag wavin, jelly sandwich eating rednecks.  But that is the power of music bringing people together.

Quick afterthought - When VH1 had their Hip Hop Honors several years ago for either Run DMC or JMJ, Run was a no show for whatever reason.
