(AllHipHop News) Drake’s third official album Nothing Was The Same has given the Young Money rapper the biggest first week sales of his career. Billboard is now reporting that the release will debut at number one on the albums chart with a total of 658,000 copies sold in its opening week.
That total tops Drake’s previous #1 projects 2010’s Thank Me Later (447,000) and 2011’s Take Care (631,000). It also makes NWTS the second fast selling album of 2013 after Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience which fell just below the one million mark with 968,000 units sold its first week.
While Drake’s fans rushed to purchase the album in big numbers, the professional critics praised the work as well. Nothing Was The Same has a current Metacritic score of 81 signifying “universal acclaim.”
