The working title for the project is Whitney Houston. The movie will cover the time the two singers met all the way through Houston’s run as one of the most successful entertainers in pop culture history.
The film is being directed by Academy Award nominated actress Angela Bassett. The American Horror Story star has been involved in numerous biopics throughout her career.
Bassett appeared as Betty Shabazz in Malcolm X, Katherine Jackson in The Jacksons: An American Dream, Voletta Wallace in Notorious, and Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It. She played Coretta Scott King in Lifetime’s Betty and Coretta as well.
“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments, and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” said Bassett. “Their humanity and bond fascinates us all.”
