(AllHipHop News) Top Dawg Entertainment emcee Kendrick Lamar was given a rare honor for a Hip Hop artist. The Compton native was tapped to perform his critically acclaimed album To Pimp A Butterfly at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Lamar was backed by the National Symphony Orchestra for his one night only “NSO Pops” performance in Washington, DC. Back in September, the musical event completely sold out during the pre-sales period.
“It is pretty incredible,” said NSO Pops conductor Steven Reineke prior to the show. “This is going to be quite an adventure because you have two very, very different worlds colliding, from a full symphony classical orchestra, with the world of Hip Hop. But it’s not something we’re totally unfamiliar with.”
The Kennedy Center has released footage from its “NSO Pops with Kendrick Lamar” concert. A YouTube video shows the Grammy-winning rapper performing “These Walls” for the packed house.
