Drake Hints Popular U.K. Series ‘Top Boy’ Could Be Returning

IS THE CRIME DRAMA SET TO RISE AGAIN?

(AllHipHop News) There have been rumors for months that Drake was going to be involved in reviving the popular British crime drama Top Boy. The series ran for two seasons in the United Kingdom, but it earned a significant following in the United States after being added to the streaming platform Netflix.

Earlier this morning (February 4), Drake posted a picture of two Top Boy stars to his Instagram page. The caption for the photo read, “Top Boy will rise again.”

Only 8 episodes of the show were originally created. The last season of Top Boy ran on Channel 4 in the U.K. back in 2013. The series featured rapper-turned-actors Ashley “Asher D” Walters (Get Rich or Die Tryin’) and Kane “Kano” Robinson (Tower Block).

“We were going into meetings. Top Boy is the sort of brand we knew would sell to Netflix, Amazon. The numbers speak for themselves,” said Ashley last year. “So we had that power and the production company still owned the rights. And Drake made an offer and they turned it down. I don’t know what is going on with it – but I heard they are talking about a Top Boy Chicago.”
