VH1 Announces Air Date For The Revived ‘Hip Hop Honors’ Award Show

THE CABLE NETWORK IS SET TO RECOGNIZE TRAILBLAZING WOMEN OF THE CULTURE

(AllHipHop News) From 2004 -2010, VH1 celebrated the Hip Hop legends that left an unforgettable mark on the culture with a special award show. Hip Hop Honors is now set to return after a six-year hiatus.

AllHipHop.com reported in April that the cable network was reviving the annual event. More details about the forthcoming program are now available.

Billboard reports:

In a statement released to The Associated Press on Monday (May 23), the network announced the show would air live from New York City on July 11. While no honorees were announced, VH1 said it would focus exclusively on female “trailblazers and trend-setters” in the male-dominated field.

Hip Hop Honors has recognized individuals, groups, companies, and art that represented all aspects of Hip Hop culture.

Iconic figures and works such as DJ Kool Herc, Rock Steady Crew, The Graffiti Movement, the Boyz N The Hood movie, Russell Simmons, Def Jam Recordings, Organized Noise, and several others have been commemorated in past years.
