Mariah Carey Shares Clip That Might Mean July Album Drop

Mariah Carey hinted at her 16th studio album with a cryptic teaser and a new track preview, fueling buzz about a possible July release.

Mariah Carey stirred speculation with a cryptic teaser for what appears to be her 16th studio album, just one day after previewing a playful new song titled “Sugar Sweet” and now we know the official release date.

In a 37-second video shared on X, the words “MC16” flashed across the screen, followed by the caption: “MC16 – Announcement Tomorrow.”

Mariah followed up by unveiling the official release date of September 26 for the album in another video.

The clip arrived shortly after Carey posted a snippet of “Sugar Sweet,” a breezy pop tune that played over footage of her baking in the kitchen.

While the official release date remains unconfirmed, industry chatter points to July 21 as the likely drop date for the long-awaited project—her first full-length studio album since 2018’s Caution.

Last month, Carey confirmed the album’s completion during an interview on Apple Music.

“What is next? The album coming out. I don’t wanna tell too much about it because I just don’t want to reveal the whole thing. It’s finished,” she said.

In June, Carey also released a track titled “Type Dangerous,” adding to the growing anticipation surrounding her next body of work.

The five-time Grammy winner has released 15 studio albums, four EPs, seven compilations, two soundtracks and one remix album throughout her career.

With more than 200 million records sold worldwide, she remains one of the most commercially successful artists in music history.
