(AllHipHop News) Singer-songwriter Kevin McCall is looking to introduce a new genre to the musical landscape. The California native teamed up with shock rocker Marilyn Manson for a project that centers around what he calls “Rock & Soul,” and McCall reveals he may be dropping something sooner than later.
“You gonna see that soon,” says McCall. “I’m gonna leak some of that sh*t if they keep playing with me. You gonna hear that real soon.”
Songs from the McCall/Manson “Rock & Soul” project will likely grab a lot of attention when they see the light of day. The unlikely duo’s individual resume of hits is well-known. Manson’s band is responsible for rock classics like “The Beautiful People” and “Coma White.” McCall has helped craft records for Chris Brown (“Deuces”) and Keri Hilson (“One Night Stand”).
Even with his experience working with artists like Brown, Hilson, Diddy, Joe Jonas, and more McCall still does not have a specific formula for making a hit song. According to the Washington State University graduate, he just attempts to make a connection with as many fans as possible.
“I think you never really know what it is. I think when you try and find an equation and stuff to make a hit that’s when you’re gonna start losing,” explains McCall. “I just try and come from the heart and try and do something that everybody can relate to on different levels regardless of what race you are or what age group you are. I think when you find a song that little kids will love and their grandmother will also love and you fill in the gaps in between, you find yourself a hit.”
McCall released his mixtape Definition in February. The 13-track tape features 2 Chainz, Problem, and Travis Porter.
