AllHipHop.com: Give us some background info as to who you are.
Podgy Smith: I’m Podgy Smith currently residing in Little Rock, AR. I was inspired by 2pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, Bun B, Kanye West & North Little Rock’s own Project Dawgs. Project Dawgs made me believe it was “real” when I would walk in big retail stores and see their work along side the majors. I feel that my music reflects one of the purest forms of Hip Hop. The whole essence of the art form embodies everything that I do. When you hear my catalogue, you not only hear good music but you also walk away with a small piece of me. I’m pure and authentic. Follow my movement on twitter @podgysmith.
AllHipHop.com: What is your USP? (Unique Selling Proposition) and what sets you apart from other Hip Hop artists?
Podgy Smith: Not to sound cliche, but I’m myself. Whether I’m doing a song, interview or having a causal conversation, I’m me. I don’t use some special “rap voice” or act a certain way when I talk to different people. Being myself is easier than trying to pretend to be a bunch of fictional characters.
AllHipHop.com: What single or project are you currently pushing?
Podgy Smith: The singles I’m pushing are “White Russian” and “Blessed Oil.” I shot music videos for each song. And the full length project I’m promoting is titled “Bright Nights & Dark Days: Tears of Gold.”
AllHipHop.com: Tell us about your album?
Podgy Smith: My album “Bright Nights & Dark Days: Tears of Gold” is currently available now for free download on my website www.podgysmith.com. It’s filled with different excerpts of my life. It’s almost semi- autobiographical. It’s comprised of entertaining music that people can relate to and enjoy.
AllHipHop.com: What is your favorite part of your live show? How has it evolved?
Podgy Smith: My favorite part about my live show is interacting with the crowd. My show has evolved to where it doesn’t even feel like a show, it’s just natural. It’s like having an intimate conversation with friends.
