(AllHipHop Features) The 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards pulled out a number of Hip Hop’s veterans and rising stars as it returned to Atlanta, Georgia.
The biggest night in Hip Hop took place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre with Lil Duval as the host.
This year’s show saw performances from Rick Ross, Chance The Rapper, Da Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, YBN Cordae & Anderson Paak, Saweetie, Lil Jon & Petey Pablo, Rapsody, Lil Baby, Offset and the living legend Lil Kim.
Da Baby & Megan Thee Stallion owned the night from their performances to the awards they took home (Best New Artist & Best Mixtape respectively).
For the first time, longtime sponsor Sprite even held a live rap battle during the show that featured notable Ultimate Rap League battle rappers DNA, Geechi Gotti, T-Top, and Shotgun Suge.
Before all of the action, AllHipHop caught up with Casanova on the Sprite green carpet to discuss his new album, ‘Behind These Scars,’ and his favorite females in Hip Hop.
AllHipHop: We are at the 2019 BET Hip Hip Awards; we have [your] ‘Behind These Scars’ [album]. Talk to me about that “Faded Pictures” sample.
Casanova: You know what, as soon as I heard the beat, I was like Chris Brown. You gotta respect Joe, so I was like somebody has to do it right. I definitely um, put it together right. I love that song. I tried to stick to myself. I tried not to be to lovey dovey. I tried to put my gun in it give her back shots.
AllHipHop: So for those who haven’t heard the project, what other features are on there, and what can they expect?
Casanova: We got Gunna, Young Thug, Casey, we got Giggs, we got a lot of people on there. What they can expect is just me. I’m kinda giving them just me on the project, and not shooting everybody every second.
AllHipHop: It’s a big year for females in Hip Hop. Who are your favorite females killing it right now?
Casanova: It’s a lot of them. It’s so crazy. Dreezy, Dani Leigh, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Nicki, Lil Kim, all of them.
AllHipHop: Kim’s being honored tonight
Casanova: So Brooklyn!
