(AllHipHop News) Justice, ironically, is preventing justice. Yesterday (July 15th), NBA Commissioner Adam Silver informed the media that banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling could possibly still be an owner at the start of the 2014-2015 NBA season.
Donald Sterling is currently on trial in Probate Court fighting his wife, Shelly Sterling and the NBA on their force sale of the Los Angeles Clippers after he was removed as a trustee from the Sterling Family Trust which owns the Los Angeles Clippers. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver remarked that while the NBA “can say with certainty that we are doing everything in our power to move Donald out as an owner”, he does admit that the current legal battle could ensure Sterling remains an owner by the start of the NBA season:
I can’t say with certainty because it’s in the hands of the probate court right now, and Donald is in the process of suing us for lots of money and we’re defending ourselves against those lawsuits.
Sterling’s Probate Court legal hearing with his wife was postponed to July 21st. Shelly sold the team to Microsoft’s ex-CEO Steve Ballmer on May 30th, with a clause in the contract that stipulated the NBA’s approval of the sale by July 15th. With the NBA waiting on the Probate Court’s decision, Ballmer’s lawyers maintain the sale deadline can be extended by a month since the trial is still ongoing.
The 2014-2015 NBA season will begin on October 28th, 2014.
