Usher And His Wife Call It Quits

(AllHipHop News) Usher and his wife Grace Miguel have split.

The singer and his partner, who spent nearly 10 years together and wed in 2015, released a joint statement confirming the end of their relationship on Tuesday (March 6), insisting they plan to move forward as friends.

“After much thought and consideration we have mutually decided to separate as a couple,” the statement reads. “We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives.
“The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward.”

The couple eloped and quietly wed in September 2015 during a vacation in Cuba. Insiders claim Usher and Grace separated at the beginning of 2018.

They started dating in 2009, shortly after Usher split from his first wife, Tameka Foster, the mother of his sons Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely.

The “U Remind Me” hitmaker and stylist Foster were also married for just over two years, from August 2007 to November 2009.

Usher hit the headlines earlier this week when he opened up about a new neck tattoo, created by top skin artist Brian ‘Doctor’ Woo.

Sharing a video of the new ink on Instagram over the weekend, he wrote: “new era//new ink ft. @dr_woo.”

Usher has yet to explain the meaning behind the new tattoo, a triangle-shaped design which incorporates lotus and eye motifs surrounded by circles and stars, or if it has anything to do with his newly single status.

Upcoming Documentary Chronicles Cultural Impact Of Hip-Hop Journalists

(AllHipHop News) A crowd-funded documentary aims to give light to the writers and journalists that have documented the culture of Hip-Hop through the years.

Journalist and film maker Syreeta Gates has three more days to meet her ultimate goal of $30,000 to get the documentary funded by those that support the vision of “Write On! The Legend of Hip-Hop’s Ink Slingers.”

The project must hit a that goal by Fri, March 9 2018 11:01 PM eastern standard time, according to the site.

Gates explained in a statement what prompted her to initiate this weighty project.

“A few years ago, I was the Editor-in-Chief of an online hip-hop publication and realized that I didn’t know any of the journalists. My mental at the time matched a few names with faces, but there wasn’t substantial information about these people to be found. I went to Google and practically fell down a rabbit hole trying to find out more information about the people behind the pen. Things like, what they looked like, what they sounded like or why they started writing in the first place. I had so many questions about them personally and about their love for hip-hop. But unfortunately I couldn’t find anything online. This led me on my own journey to start collecting magazines. I was born in some say the greatest year of hip-hop, 1988, so with that said it wasn’t like I was reading Rap Pages or Stress Magazine. I wasn’t buying those magazines back then, but I do remember seeing them around when I visited my uncles and cousins, because that’s what they were reading. And that’s when hip-hop chose me, I didn’t really have a choice.”

At the time of this writing, the project had raised $22,491.

Gates has already conducted about 33 interviews that include scribes like Minya “Miss Info” Oh, Miles Marshall Lewis, Elliot Wilson and others. She will be working with journalist, author and former AllHipHop editor Kathy Iandoli, the screenwriter. She said the support is needed for music rights and other clearances.

Continuing, Gates said that the writers and scribes held a unique, dual role in the annals of Hip-Hop as history and also historians.

“These journalists captured so much history and information with their pens and pads. They had connections to musical history that my generation would never understand, but would want to,” she said. “They grew up with people who would become legends. And they too would be legends in their own right. They grew up with Hip-Hop.”

Writing in Hip-Hop is often thankless work, a notion that Gates said further inspired her to forge ahead with her plans.

“Fast forward to today, and this documentary serves as a digital thank you letter to the original historians and ghostwriters of hip-hop as we know it. What we know and love of Hip-Hop comes from the pens of people who dared to give a voice to a culture most thought wouldn’t last. These journalist defied the odds, and the more I said their names and shared their work on social media, these journalists literally started showing up for me. I started interacting with them online and in person, and one by one they said yes to my idea and convinced their peers to say yes as well. I was grateful and surprised by every yes because I knew they were counting on me, even with my limited experience, to tell their stories and get it right.”

Herbie Hancock Working With Two Rap Legends For New Album

(AllHipHop News) Jazz veteran Herbie Hancock has teased new collaborations with rappers Kendrick Lamar, Common, and Snoop Dogg to give his forthcoming album an eclectic hip-hop vibe.

The musician is working on his first studio release in eight years, and the project will be a unique affair, mixing jazz and funk with rap, but Hancock reveals he’s learning about more than just what’s hot in the modern music scene from his younger collaborators.

“I’m learning a lot from the young people I’m working with,” he told the San Diego Tribune of his new material. “Because they built the new structures, social media, and that whole arena, and that affects how you get things out in front of the public to let them know you’re working on something.”

Hancock has enlisted the services of saxophonist and keyboard player Terrace Martin to produce the as-yet-untitled album, as he previously worked with both Kendrick and Snoop.

It won’t be the first time Hancock has teamed up with artists of different generations – his 2010 duets release, The Imagine Project, featured performances from the likes of John Legend, Pink, Juanes, and James Morrison.

Mary J. Blige Officially Done With Kendu

(AllHipHop News) Mary J. Blige has reportedly reached a settlement with her estranged husband in their contentious divorce battle.

The R&B superstar has been fighting Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, her former manager, over finances ever since filing court papers to end their 12-year marriage in July 2016.

Last summer, Blige was ordered to pay her ex $30,000-a-month in temporary spousal support, but Isaacs had been trying to get the figure bumped up to $65,000 since October, claiming he is close to becoming “destitute” after failing to find work since the couple’s separation.

He also accused the “No More Drama” hitmaker of making things worse for him by singing about their marital breakdown on recent tracks, like “Love Yourself” and “Set Me Free,” from her album “Strength of a Woman.”

The judge overseeing the former couple’s case shot down Isaacs’ bid for more cash in the autumn, but the couple has now reached an undisclosed agreement.

According to reports, the former couple was due in court on Monday but settled two days before Blige attended and performed at the Academy Awards.

The singer was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for “Mudbound” and Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures for “Mighty River.”

She didn’t win any accolades, but she reportedly ended her night at a party thrown by friends Jay-Z and Beyonce at the Chateau Marmont.

“The fam is doing something big for us tonight,” she said before the awards ceremony. “All this love, it’s so beautiful. I feel blessed… I feel really blessed to have people care about me that much. I care about them that much and it just feels really good.”

Meanwhile, Blige previously protested having to pay Isaacs temporary spousal support, after accusing him of being unfaithful during their marriage.

She even offered to personally cover a massive $11 million debt the pair owed if the judge agreed to end her spousal support payments.

Stevie J didn’t help the issue when he failing multiple drug tests in January of last year.

The super-producer owes the money to his ex, Carol Bennett.

Carol Bennett is a retired music-industry executive, who sued Stevie under the 1992 Child Support Recovery Act.

The law declares it unlawful for someone to leave any state in the U.S., owing over than $10,000 worth of child support, for more than two years.

The reality show star is facing at least six months in prison for the debt, which has ballooned to over $1,300,000.

Lil Wayne Could Be The Dad Of A 16-Year-Old

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Lil Wayne has been told to submit a paternity test to determine whether or not he’s the dad of a 16-year-old.

Keiotia Watson, who claims her son Dwayne is the product of a fling she had with the “Lollipop” hitmaker in 2001, first filed documents to establish paternity and pick up child support in 2015.

Wayne has denied having a sexual relationship with her.

A Louisiana judge ruled in her favor and ordered the rap star to hand over $5,000, but he has paid nothing, claiming he was never served with legal papers.

The previous judgment was tossed and a new trial has been ordered, according to reports.

If Dwayne is the star’s son, he will be his fifth child.

Wayne has four kids with four different women.

Rick Ross Cancels Sweet 16 Party For His Daughter At Famous Mansion

(AllHipHop News) Rick Ross has postponed his daughter’s ‘Sweet 16’ birthday party following his hospitalization for a heart-related health issue.

The “Stay Schemin'” hitmaker was reportedly admitted to a Miami area medical center on Thursday (March 1) after an assistant found him unresponsive, drooling, and breathing heavily and called emergency services.

Reports suggested Rozay suffered a heart-related health crisis and was hooked up to a machine that assists respiratory functions.

Although the rapper was discharged on Monday, his ill health prompted his family to postpone the lavish Sweet 16 birthday party planned for his daughter Toie.

The 42-year-old rapper had reportedly booked Miami’s The Villa, Casa Casuarina, the former Versace Mansion where late designer Gianni was murdered in 1997, nearly seven months ago for Toie’s $100,000 party.

However, family members reportedly decided to postpone the party, which was scheduled to take place on March 17, as they were uncertain how long he would be hospitalized for.

According to TMZ, his condition was so serious at one point that he was transferred to a second hospital that specialized in his ailment.

Rick, real name William Leonard Roberts II, is known for throwing elaborate parties for his eldest child, with performers like Rich Homie Quan, Trina, Meek Mill and Ace Hood in attendance.

However, her Sweet 16 was set to be the biggest yet, with hundreds of guests, several performances and surprises galore for the teenager.

Rick is also father to 12-year-old son William Leonard Roberts III, while his second daughter Berkeley Hermes, was born last September.

#AHHPowerfulWomen: Santrise Nicole Is The Genius Behind The Geniuses

Chicago Native Santrise Nicole possesses a diverse entertainment portfolio as a Music Executive, Artist Manager, Creative Consultant, Marketing Strategist, Content Producer, Writer and Director. Recognized as a cultivator of many of today’s top talent, she is responsible for transitioning unknown local artists to national and international acclaim. Before transitioning to the field of entertainment she served as a Development Officer, Corporate Trainer and Executive for Fortune 100 Companies where she introduced new products and brands to their core demographic audiences worldwide. At present, she continues to cultivate and transition talent from the margins to mainstream, acts as a creative consultant and brand strategist for businesses, and develops innovative and cutting-edge content in the areas of film and music.

Chuck Creekmur talks to the genius behind the geniuses.

AllHipHop: First of all, tell me about your tour of duty in the music and entertainment game.

Santrise Nicole: I’ve broken about three handfuls of writers, singer/songwriters, and producers with my own company, money, resources, team, and best practices. Categorically, I’ve scratched every [music] surface except Country and, although I have sights on fully transitioning into television and film, do tell if you have any leads on the next Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, or Kenny Chesney, because I’d love to pop my Country cherry. I hear it’s amazing. My music portfolio is expansive in terms of artists and companies I’ve worked with. I’ve consulted for labels, businesses, and artists with a wide range of business development and artist services for about ten years. In 95 when Suge walked on stage at the Source Awards and said the infamous line about “If you’re an artist and you don’t wanna be on a record label where the Exec all up in your video, etc,” it resonated with me. I pride myself in being of service to artists to make them larger than life so I can enjoy mines. The last two years, I’ve grown fond of sync licensing and placed about one hundred songs between television and film.

AllHipHop: You have played a role in quite a lot of rappers and emcees. How has that been for you?

Santrise Nicole: I’ve broken a legit number of artists as previously stated. Many of whom, tried to run off and finesse me after receiving mainstream attention and label interest garnered by my efforts but that part has never quite worked out for any of them long-term. I’ve also encountered fraudulent people in business but was delivertttt! Won’t He do it for you?!

Despite a few shenanigans, music has been the gift that keeps on giving because I receive calls from artists I’d never expect to hear from that are larger than life asking me to help them reach the next level. Imagine that, a kid from a Chicago, from the slums of Harvey to be exact, being asked to help to change someone’s life. Cue Miri Ben Ari playing the violin on Twista’s “Overnight Celebrity” at the exact part where he says, “Let me be your Manager.”

The bizarre part about this is I’ve declined offers to work with some of the largest and most celebrated talents in the game because I kind of feel like Sid from “Brown Sugar.” I’ve been falling out of love with Hip -Hop because it’s hard to love something that requires so much and gives so little in return. Working in Hip-Hop has diminished my ability to enjoy the one thing that used to bring me peace and mumble rap has f#cked up my entire understanding of life. I’ve been conflicted with wanting to preserve the culture and also wanting to boycott it at the same damn time.

AllHipHop: You have started to transition into film and TV. Has that been difficult?

Santrise Nicole: It’s hard to gauge because it’s a different level of politicking and schmoozing necessary to break in Hollywood. At present, no one has asked me to give them a sexual favor so I guess that’s a win but I’m also not staffed in a writer’s room, have submitted and interviewed to no avail, and have above average writing chops so I guess you could say… I’m failing. [Laughs]

Music’s taught me to appreciate the journey so I’m relishing in this transition and taking the bumps along the road like little massages to my ass cheeks. Nothing can beat the blood, sweat, and tears I invested in music. I worked for everything I accomplished so I pride myself in no one being able to say they made me. God made me, then I manifested in the physical because my grandmother made my mom with my grandad, then my mom got with my dad and Voila…Santrise.

My mind is razor sharp, faith is strong, and I know my value even if no one else does. So sooner or later, I’m grabbing a seat at the table and at some point, the entire table will be mines and the show, then the studio and eventually the network if that’s what I want. My Uber driver two days ago was like a White N#gga Socrates. He told me to never apologize for always wanting more because I am abundance and will attract it. I filed that ride under therapy.

Santrise Nicole: Jay-Z has the perfect lyrics to sum up the Chicago Persona, “I sell ice in the winter, I sell fire in hell. I am a hustler, baby, I’ll sell water to a well.” Chicagoans created the art of finesse and are eternal hustlers. We have a knack for making something from nothing and the talent transcends race and culture. Hugh Hefner was a kid from Chicago who borrowed $1000 from his mom in 1953 to create the international conglomerate we know today as Playboy. Ray Kroc finessed two brothers from California out of a little burger joint, later known as McDonald’s after transitioning it into the largest franchise in the world. This one might throw most for a loop, but Kanye West was just a kid from Chicago that… I think everyone knows the rest.

AllHipHop: Explain what your present job entails?

Santrise Nicole: A week ago J Erving asked me what I do and in the same breath suggested he didn’t know because he’s seen me do a lot of s###. This is somewhat a paraphrase but might be exact, but anyway I sat there thinking damn am I that person as Melissa laughed out loud.

I operate my own business and am lucky to provide a diverse set of services to amazing companies, brands, and people which sums up to I do a lot of s###. I takes a lot to operate a business while managing employees, clients, campaigns, brands, and money. I‘m usually in front of a computer whether at home or in my office and one of my most sought-after services is crisis management. I have a gift for fixing s###.

AllHipHop: Tell me how Hip-Hop has changed your life.

Santrise Nicole: I fell in love with Hip-Hop in the late 80’s. Broke up with Michael Jackson for Run DMC then broke up with them for LL Cool J then broke up with him for Slick Rick the Ruler then broke up with him for Eric B and Rakim then broke up with them for NWA and fell in absolute love with “Express Yourself.” NWA had me thinking I could do anything. I remember holding my middle finger up to the TV during a “This is your brain on drugs” Public Announcement with Nancy and Roland Reagan like “F#CK YOU REAGANS.” This might not serve as the most positive example, but Hip-Hop helped me recognize the power of my voice. Everything around my generation suggested we wouldn’t amount to anything and Hip-Hop was there to change the status quo by shedding light on our marginalized experience. It gave a voice to people of color who would otherwise go unheard and propelled Black Culture then popular culture at large.

AllHipHop: What’s the most enjoyable part of the job / business?

Santrise Nicole: Being able to do what I want and buying my mom the ridiculous ish she asks for.

AllHipHop: What is the hardest part?

Santrise Nicole: Not being able to do what I want and missing things I would like to attend. Sometimes I’m too exhausted and others I have a deadline and being a perfectionist I don’t know how to stop. I like to overachieve like a grade is at the end. Sh#t’s ridiculous.

AllHipHop: Can you describe a moment of adversity personal and in your career?

Santrise Nicole: I have too many to name. Insert Pac “Shed so Many Tears” here. Specifically, the line, “Lord knows I’ve cried. Been a Witness to Homicide”. I used to be naïve enough to think people would stop dying once we reached 21 because that was the age where men of color in Chicago would be out the danger zone, at least that’s what the crime lab said but then the number kept increasing and people I’ve known my entire life were murdered. I’m not fond of Facebook for this reason. It’s like the ceremonial place to break hood tragedy.

AllHipHop: What keeps you from giving up?

Santrise Nicole: First: The idea that my grandmother might roll over in her grave if I do because of the sacrifices she made for me. She was my Hitta so she deserves a magnificent after-life.

Second: My mom is my biggest supporter and motivator and is like “F#CK THEM” every time I say anything someone said or did to me. Lol, she’s like, “You got this and F#CK THEM VERY MUCH. What’s their address and phone number. I can pull up.” I’m the only child and she’s literally ride or die.

Third: My son is pretty awesome. I have this inclination that one day he’s going to take awesome care of me.

AllHipHop: On point. Who inspired you to become a leader or boss?

Santrise Nicole: This is about to sound every bit of ridiculous but the best bosses of my childhood sold drugs. I’m not talking about 8 balls or corner sales; I’m talking about crack and heroin in the late 80’s and early 90’s when a kilo of cocaine could get stepped on a million times and go a long way. Through them I learned about free enterprise, inflation, supply and demand, the prison industrial complex, recidivism, and politics: who gets, what, when, and how. They gave me hope that the community I came from was not a period and that I could do anything because I had the perfect combination of book and street smarts. Then seeing Rolonda and Oprah on TV solidified things for me. I didn’t want to be on TV, I wanted to be in charge.

AllHipHop: How do you balance work, and personal life?

Santrise Nicole: My son, Prayer, Crystals, Essence Oils, Sage, Donnie Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Gil Scott Heron, Midnight Marauders, Diplomatic Immunity, Hardcore, Pseudo Meditation that doubles as sleep, Shopping, Champagne flavored gummy bears, Irish coffee, Target, lots of expletives, The Impossible Burger at Umami, pretending I’m still in Utero, The Idea of Reparations Day.

AllHipHop: What do you like to do for fun?

Santrise Nicole: Talk ish on the phone with my mom, China, or Don Don a terrible three-year-old. He’s my spirit animal.

AllHipHop: Final words?

Santrise Nicole: For when I die or this?

Nipsey Hussle Rates Bars By Xzibit, Belly, Tech N9ne, Cupcakke & More

(AllHipHop News) BET is back with the latest installment of the “Rate The Bars” segment. Cali emcee Nipsey Hussle took on the task of grading his fellow rhymer’s lyrics.

Nip evaluated songs by Xzibit, Kamaiyah, Belly, Dom Kennedy, Tech N9ne, Cupcakke, Young Dolph, Kirko Bangz, and himself. The Victory Lap creator had to give his opinions on the bars without knowing the artist that wrote them.

“Why is [Albert] Einstein a genius? Because he understood how to express a really, really complex idea… E=mc2,” said Hussle, comparing the famed physicist to lyrical rappers. “To me, that represents high intelligence, when you can express a very complex idea in a very simple way with the least amount of words or characters as possible.”

Jussie Smollett Talks Collaborating With Swizz Beatz

(AllHipHop News) Actor/singer Jussie Smollett recently dropped his Sum of My Music album. The collection includes the track “Catch Your Eye” featuring Swizz Beatz.

Smollett spoke with Revolt about working with the legendary Hip Hop producer. The 35-year-old industry veteran said, “It’s because he’s such an art aficionado, in every single way possible, he just respects other artists. He wants to see other people win.”

Throughout his music career, Jussie has also worked with Alicia Keys, Estelle, and Pitbull. He collaborated on records with his Empire co-stars Terrence Howard and Yazz as well.

Tory Lanez Gets Accused Of Stealing Bars & Flows By New Rapper

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNWkG_weF18

(AllHipHop Rumors) Uh Oh! Here we go again! Tory Lanez is the Canadian Hip-Hop wants. The only thing is, like Drake, he has some issues with allegations that he’s breaking some of the cardinal rules in Hip-Hop. Drake had the ghost writing and Tory has straight up biting. Now, Tory’s new album is out and Memories Don’t Die is dope. The album’s quality is being questioned with accusations that he swiped another artist’s song.

It is my understanding that there is an artist named VI Seconds and he is the alleged victim. I have read some of the comments under my articles and I too have been criticized for not researching! So, I did some investigative reporting and read the comments under a video. In the comments, they say that this may be a very flagrant JACK MOVE. A big fan of Tory said, “I mess with Tory HEAVY, Ive been listening to this man since the swavey days. We have to keep it 100, Tory definately BIT that song. Same beat, same flow, starts off the same. Tory is my guy but im tired of the constant biting allegations….. ”

All this rap beef has me like:

But I digress…

Some people are defending Tory, but most are saying Mr. Lanez stole from an artist that nobody heard of.

Here, Tory goes on the offensive and defensive at the same time.

A part of Tory’s defense, which to me is valid, is that he ghost writes for people and they sound like HIM, he says. He may want to up his pen game since he wants to sound like himself. For example, Eminem wrote for Dr. Dre in Dre’s “voice.” The same with Nas writing for people. So, I’m going to say that Tory should switch it up!

Here is the dude VI Secs:

And yet…Tory spits flames.

Chance The Rapper: New Songs With Childish Gambino Are “Amazing”

(AllHipHop News) There has been hype around a proposed Childish Gambino/Chance The Rapper project for a while. In February 2017, CG talked about needing to “catch a vibe” with his “The Worst Guys” collaborator in order to complete the body of work.

A year later, Chance is once again talking about the prospective joint effort. The Coloring Book architect took part in Pitchfork‘s “In Sight Out” series, and Lil Chano made a bold declaration at the Museum of Contemporary Art event.

“We perpetuated that rumor for a long time without recording anything,” said Chance. “We did link up in Atlanta and record some tracks and… they’re amazing.”

Those comments appear to present a different timetable from what Chance suggested last summer when he told Hot 97, “This is going to hurt people’s feelings. We’re probably not going to put out a project in reality until we’re around like 44.”

Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) is set to drop a new solo album via RCA Records. The Grammy winner also announced a nationwide tour beginning September 6 in his hometown of Atlanta.

T.I. Talks Celebrating Jay-Z & Patterning His Moves After Him

(AllHipHop Features) First quarter 2018 definitely belongs to Hip Hop mogul Jay-Z. The legendary rapper has been just as active as he’s always been in these first three months, with no signs of slowing down. From being the most nominated artist at the 2018 Grammys with eight nominations, being honored with the Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award at Clive Davis‘ annual Pre-Grammy Gala, and upping his net worth from $810 million to $900 million, Jay-Z has proved time and time again how he has made an indelible mark on both music and business. Hov has even topped this year’s “Forbes Five: Hip Hop’s Wealthiest Artists” list this year. AllHipHop caught up with T.I. who expressed his excitement in seeing Jay-Z being honored and celebrated this year.
“I mean it’s unmentionable. I think that his contributions to the culture to the industry have been immeasurable throughout the years. I think that he has the greatest numbers, the greatest amount of classics, the greatest amount of Grammys. I think that this is a time that I would say is long overdue but considering how young he is in the culture, I think that it’s just about that time. So I’m happy to be able to be here and be present and represent for a guy that I’ve come up patterning a lot of my moves after, and actually have the pleasure of working alongside in the business,” said T.I.
What’s next for Tip you ask?
“More music, more movies, more fashion, more money, he added.”

Donald Glover Talks ‘Atlanta’, Trap Music, & Migos Shout Out

(AllHipHop Features) Donald Glover and fellow members of the cast of ‘Atlanta’ hosted a season 2 premiere screening in Atlanta for the hit FX show! The screening took place at East-Atlanta’s Starlight Six Drive-In theater. The “black carpet” featured Sonny Digital, Sahbabi, Kawan “KP” Prather, and Isaac Hayes III. At the closing of the red carpet, attendees had a chance to view the first two episodes of season 2 of ‘Atlanta’ which has been titled, “Robbin’ Season”. The cast and Glover also joined those in attendance for an after party that featured Atlanta-based rappers and an ATL-themed video booth. In a red carpet-turned-press conference, the media had a chance to hear Donald Glover’s thoughts on trap music, how Atlanta as a city is perceived and reflected in the show, and his epic Migos shout out. On trap music:
“It’s like Reggae or something where the elements are very small. It’s like five major elements, and then you just do what you do with it…I feel like everybody around the world can do it. It’s kind of like soccer; all you need is a ball. All you need is really like the bass drum and the trap drum, so like everybody can do it. But everybody can’t make it good. I feel like it’s a great equalizer of music,” said Donald.
On “Bad & Boujee” Migos shout out:
“I …..did not…… I mean this like honestly. I said it as a joke, cause I was like yeah everybody knows that song is hot. Then at that moment when I saw the crowd, I was like none of them know this song, like none of them have heard this song. I’ve heard this song like 20 times this week,” Glover added.
Donald Glover expressed that the show and the city of Atlanta represent how the city is a city with a lot of finessing, and a city where you can truly be whomever it is that you want to be.

Remy Ma Talks Honoring Jay-Z & “Melanin Magic”

(AllHipHop Features) The ultimate Hip Hop mogul and businessman Jay-Z took the number one spot on the Forbes Hip Hop Cash Crown list for “Forbes Five: Hip Hop’s Wealthiest Artists” list, and it’s evident that the Brooklyn-born emcee has no plans on slowing down his endeavors anytime soon. AllHipHop caught up with Remy Ma who expressed her excitement about Hov being honored for his musical achievements and contributions this year.
“Jay is the homie like I think its a lot of times we honor our legends when they are gone. To see so many of them in recent years getting them while they’re still here. It’s amazing; it’s wonderful,” said Remy.
Remy also expressed her joy in seeing Hip Hop & R&B dominate this year’s Grammy nominations.
“We’ve been trying to tell ’em forever but they wouldn’t listen. It’s a wonderful thing I mean I do Hip Hop, and R&B is in my blood. I’m glad that once again that we’re getting our recognition. “Melanin Magic (Pretty Brown)” that’s my latest single. You can download it. You can stream it. You can buy it. It’s everywhere. Pretty Brown is what it’s about right now. ‘7 Winters & 6 Summers’ the album coming soon though,” said Remy.

Did Lil Wayne Take Shots At Birdman On His ‘Vizine’ Song?

(AllHipHop News) The years-long legal drama between Lil Wayne and Bryan “Birdman” Williams is still not resolved. While Birdman has been civil toward Wayne in public, the Young Money rapper apparently still holds a personal grudge against Baby.

Some of Wayne’s bars on the RGB 2 track “Vizine” have listeners speculated that he’s taking shots at his Cash Money label head. Weezy raps, “No one man should have all that power/If he can’t afford to pay the light bills.”

The lines – which interpolate Kanye West’s “Power” – were taken as a diss about Birdman reportedly losing his Miami home after defaulting on a loan. “Vizine” also arrives after news that Wayne is taking Williams back to court for allegedly refusing to turn over documents related to YMCMB artists Nicki Minaj and Drake.

Quavo’s Assault Case Investigation In NYC Reportedly Stalling

(AllHipHop News) Quavious “Quavo Marshall was accused of being involved in an assault and robbery in New York City during Grammy festivities. TMZ reports the case is now stalling since supposed victim Eric The Jeweler is not working with investigators.

Eric recently posted a message on social media claiming he and the Migos member don’t have any issues. He also blasted the press for perpetuating the story.

“Just for the record since the media likes to put things in their own words and elevate things that aren’t really true to another level, I am not suing or pressing charges against Quavo,” wrote Eric on Instagram. “The media got it all twisted it was all just a big misunderstanding. We are on good terms and back to conducting business as usual!”

Migos returned to NYC over the weekend to appear on Saturday Night Live. The Atlanta-based group performed “Stir Fry” and “Narcos” on the NBC program.

After Sit Down With Hot 97, Lil Xan Says He’s Done Doing Interviews

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgEljsUNCe4

(AllHipHop News) Ebro has built a reputation for challenging new artists during interviews. The Hot 97 morning show host repeated his pressing questioning style while speaking with Lil Xan.

The conversation included Ebro expressing his confusion on the California rapper’s name. He also admitted that he doesn’t listen to the Stat Quo protégé’s music.

Yesterday, Lil Xan took to Twitter to announce he has a new policy when it comes to speaking with the media. The “Betrayed” performer posted, “No more interviews… I love my fans to death but I can’t let these companies keep taking advantage of me and using me to further there [sic] sh-t, it’s f-cked.”

It’s not clear if the artist also known as Diego was directly responding to his sit down with Hot 97. However, the message did come on the same day the Ebro In The Morning crew recapped the discussion with Xan.

“In an art form that’s very competitive, if we want the best, I believe [in] being heavy-handed. This ain’t Romper Room to me,” stated Ebro. “We’re at that point again where we gotta have the convo between minor and major leagues. Just because you got a lot of IG followers and one hit song doesn’t mean you’re prime time.”

The former station program director added, “The only thing I cared about Lil Xan is he’s named after prescription drugs and he’s not doing them anymore, and I wanted to hear how he even went down that path.”
