50 Cent Visits Troy Ave In Hospital

(AllHipHop News) Troy Ave got a visit from 50 Cent today after he was shot two times on Christmas day.

50 Cent has showed an affinity for the young Brooklyn rapper for quite some time and reasserted his support on the holiday.

The elder rapper simply said, “Dope boy Troy all good, Merry Christmas.”

Ave was on his way to Christmas dinner with his family when he was shot in the arm and the head. The headshot grazed him and his wounds were non-life threatening. Roland Collins, Ave’s real name, was sitting in a red Maserati when the shots rang out.

This is the second attempt on his life. Earlier in the year, Ave was involved in a shooting incident that left him injured and his bodyguard dead backstage at a T.I. concert in Manhattan. For his role in the shooting, he was charged with attempted murder and eventually posted $500,000 bail in July.

Police are investigating this current matter, but have not released any information on the suspected shooter.

The Brooklyn-born rapper was shot in the arm and grazed in the head. He is in stable condition.

“Tonight, Troy Ave was targeted again… on Christmas. In Brooklyn, going to meet his family for the holiday, he was shot two times. Thankfully, he will survive the second attempt on his life. As we have said from the beginning — he is a victim. We pray for his speedy recovery,” said Scott Leemon to Billboard.
Earlier this year, Troy Ave was doing the shooting.

He was embroiled in a gunfight at Irving Plaza in Manhattan that resulted in multiple injuries and a death. Ave was charged with attempted murder for his role in the fracas. His bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter was the one killed.

Young M.A. Has Ghostwriters? She Denies King Yella’s Claim With PASSION!

(AllHipHop Rumors) King Yella gives Young M.A. a Christmas gift the Grinch would love! The Chicago gangster has charged that the BK rapper uses a ghostwriter! Normally, this wouldn’t be a big deal. Most rappers are corny. Young M.A. is not. So, apparently King Yella had a conversation with her management and they informed to him that she uses a ghostwriter and didn’t know what the Tookah line meant. Remember Tooka is the name of a street dude killed by a rival faction. Chief Keef most notably stay something slick about him. Young M.A. said something similar and it was a gross violation, which resulted in a price on her head. King Yella even decided to apologize to Young M.A. since she apparently didn’t even know what she was saying in the rap. I don’t know if she really uses a ghostwriter. In fact. I don’t believe she does. However, it may be time to call that management team on this one. They are good people and I find it hard to believe they would even TELL the enemy a deep, dark secret like that. You think?

Young M.A. has already denied the allegations and also apologized to Tooka’s fam. I believe her. Watch below.

E-40 Drops Five Figures To Help Local Salvation Army

(AllHipHop News) Rapper E-40 may help a struggling community center make it through 2017, thanks to a five figure donation.

E-40 recently donated $20,000 to the Salvation Army, which is over $40,000 behind last year’s budget.

According to the Mercury News, the 49-year-old rapper has fond memories of the local Salvation Army in Vallejo, where he and his family would stand in line for toys during hard times.

“Knowing how many families they can feed, helping single parents and whatnot, I’m glad to be a part of it,” E-40 said. “Vallejo is my city and I’m just giving back.”

The rapper is serious about his philanthropic work in Vallejo.

In August, E-40 donated over $25,000 to the students of Franklin Middle School, where he once attended.

E-40 put up the money, after he realized the middle school had lost a grant for school supplies their students needed to start the school year.

Earlier this month, E-40’s latest album The D-Boy Diary Books 1 & 2, landed in the Top 20 of Billboard’s Indie and R&B/Hip Hop Charts.

“Giving back is the most important aspect of my life,” Young Jeezy said. “It’s important to me that the less fortunate get opportunities to enjoy family time during holiday season. Some of these children don’t have biological families in their lives, so I decided long ago that I would open my arms and welcome them into my family, the Street Dreamz Foundation family.”

The rapper also handed out a gift card to each child for Foot Locker and Forever 21. The entire event was put on by Jeezy’s Street Dreamz Foundation and the National Lighthouse Foundation.

Viola Davis: Real Life Wonder Woman Brings Joy, Pain & Range To “Fences”

viola_davis_fences_jef_160927_12x5_1600

(AllHipHop Lifestyle) Viola Davis is a master and she brings almost all that she is as a thespian to “Fences,” based on the award-winning August Wilson play of the same name. The movie, set in the 50’s, chronicles an a seemingly ordinary American family in Pittsburgh. After a few minutes, it is apparent that the complexities and layers of The Maxson Family are anything but ordinary. As Rose the matriarch, Davis presents a character that is able to shoulder the massive weight and responsibility of guiding a family, where as Troy (Denzel Washington) falls short. She holds nothing back. “I’ve been standing with you,” Rose screams to Troy. “I give 18 years of my life to stand in the same spot as you!” The movie examines the relationship between father and song, husband and wife and family and life. There is something here for everybody. Moreover, “Fences” realigns the African American experience with the fabric of the country consciousness.

Chuck Creekmur talked to Viola Davis on the red carpet on the red carpet at the New York premiere of  “Fences.”

AllHipHop.com:
AllHipHop.com. Viola Davis, the master. I have to ask you about this movie and what it means to you and the broader audience, as well, as a body of work, as a film.

Viola Davis: What it means is bringing August’s work to a wider audience. He had a vision to chronicle every decade of life for African Americans in a century, American century cycle, and he did that before he died in 2005. His final vision was to see Fences brought to screen. He didn’t make it to see that, but it’s been done.

Yes.

Viola Davis: I have to believe that he, somewhere, is seeing this and seeing the impact it has on everyone’s life, because his gift to the writing world is the equivalent of Arthur Miller, Eugene O’Neill, Edward Albee, Tennessee Williams, because what he writes about is the human condition. He writes about the anti-hero, who is Troy, who is the center of his world and doesn’t know it. He writes about uplifting the average, that average man, the janitor at the McDonald’s, and he honors that life that, otherwise, would be invisible. I think people need to see that.

Absolutely. This is a year where Black women and Black girls are completely celebrated, I mean, everything from Serena [Williams] to Lupita [Nyong’o], et cetera, et cetera, and yourself, as well. Is there anything you would like to tell young women or young girls as a form of encouragement or advice?

Viola Davis: Yeah. You deserve it. That’s what, and you know, that’s a blanketed statement. However you interpret it, you deserve it. What kind of relationship? “Ah. This the kind of relationship I wa-.” Well, that’s because you deserve it. How do you see your life? What is your vision for your life? “Oh, it’s … My vision is this and that, but …” No, you deserve it. When you walk into a room, you’re pitching something, a idea to Hollywood, but “Ah. I don’t know if they’re gonna say …” You deserve it. You deserve it all. That’s what I will say to them.

Last but not least, I’m a comic nerd. I’ve seen you in DC Comics’ Suicide Squad.

Viola Davis: Yeah. Amanda Waller.

Do you have any tidbits you might want to share with us that may come to fruition later on?

Viola Davis: Absolutely not. I haven’t heard anything. All I [inaudible 00:02:36]. Listen. I had fun playing the bad woman.  I’m serious. I absolutely loved it. I thought it was a great exercise, and I love having that gun.

Denzel Washington Talks Candidly About “Fences” Opening Day

(AllHipHop Lifestyle) Critical acclaim for the movie “Fences,” from Paramount Pictures, starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis is incredibly strong.  Already having won a total of 17 awards and nominated for an additional 25, the pressure would seem to be off for “Fences” director and lead actor Denzel Washington, but in speaking with him, nothing could be further from the truth.

“ The reception has been tremendous critically,” said Washington on the early African American grassroots response, fueled by many strategic early screenings, but will it be enough to boost overall ticket sales come December 25th? For Washington, “Fences” has long been about having the proverbial “back” of African American playwright August Wilson, who wrote the original “Fences” as the last of ten connected plays before his death in 2005. For Denzel as a motivated producer with a nine picture deal from paramount, “Fences” real success lives and dies in it’s final box office returns.  “This is a fifteen year project of mine,” stated Washington, adding emphatically: “I’m going to take care of August Wilson and nothing is going to get in my way.”

ALSO READ: “Fences” Star Denzel Washington Has A Tough Love Message For Black Men

To that task, while Denzel revels in the fact that “Fences” has a universal appeal, with one viewer in Poland believing that August Wilson was “Polish” due to “Fences” winning portrayal of father son issues, when it comes to the Oscar Award Winning actor’s vision for the film, his desires are decidedly more specific.

“I have a nine picture deal to produce the other nine films. But if this one is not a success then we (black Americans) can’t talk about what roles are. In the nine plays that I’m producing there’s at least 100 or 150 (African American) roles or whatever. And we can’t complain about a lack of roles when there’s roles from one of the greatest writers in American history ready to go,” stated Washington of Wilson, adding with no small degree of exasperation: “it’s called show business. It oughta be called business dough because the next show will be predicated and determined by the business we do here.”

August Wilson wrote the original “Fences” as the last installment in a series of ten plays called “The Pittsburgh Cycle” with each play in the cycle dramatizing the triumphs and difficulties of being born Black in America on a decade by decade basis. It is Washington’s dream to see all of the plays in the cycle realized via his production shingle. Before Wilson died, mainstream Hollywood approached him about adapting “Fences” as a movie, but Wilson famously declined stating that the play could not be given it’s proper due by a director who was not of African American ancestry. “I declined a white director not on the basis of race but on the basis of culture, “ explained Wilson before his death, continuing: “ White directors are not qualified for the job. The job requires someone who shares the specifics of the culture of black Americans.”

In respect of this strong belief in cultural authenticity, Washington insisted on “Fences” being shot in the backyard of Wilson’s literal childhood community. “It was like being home for me,” said Washington of his colorful and intimate Pittsburgh experience. “ Mr. Greenlee, who lived behind us and couldn’t hear, he always wanted to make coffee for me. A woman on the corner made her house – she was watching me – she made her house a quiet place of prayer for me and I would go in there when things were just getting overwhelming, ” stated Washington, adding: “ some folks would just come out with their lawn chairs like they were watching television. They didn’t want to miss anything.”

However while the local population went out of their way to support Washington, they also never let him forget his responsibility to get the portrayal right and to make it count: “ There was one woman in particular, even before we started shooting,” said Washington. “I met her and I came out and I said “oh, you know, thank you for coming out,” and she said ‘we’ve been watching you for a long time.’ I said, ‘well pray for me,’ and she said, ‘Denzel, I’ve been praying for you for 35 years, my family and I.’ She said, ‘We’ve been watching you. We know how hard it is,’ remembered Washington adding ruefully, “you just never know – I even remember my mother saying that. ‘You just never know who’s praying for you.’ But I needed all those prayers and I needed all of that support. Well we all( the whole cast and crew) needed it.”

Lastly, Washington made no bones this week about the importance of buying a ticket come Christmas day and making it clear to Hollywood and the greater world community that something larger is at stake if “Fences” continues to grow only as a critical hit versus a financial one.

“it’s not for me. It’s not just for me. But we can’t complain about what’s not being done if we don’t show up….not only is it important for us to go out and support because it’s a good story – and I’m not just saying it because I directed it – but it’s important for us to go out and support so that we can continue to tell all of his stories.”

As a larger point on controlling who we are and how our different stories can be told better, I think that most all Americans can agree that Washington has a very very good point.

“Fences” starring Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Mykelti Williamson and Jovan Adepo opens in theaters nationwide on December 25, 2016.
