Errol Spence Jr. vs. Lamont Peterson Heats Up This Weekend

The event is presented by Premier Boxing Champions from Barclays Center, the home of BROOKLYN BOXING®.

SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING coverage begins live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will feature undercard attractions that will be announced in the near future.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and TGB Promotions, are priced starting at $50, and are on sale now. Group discounts are available by calling 844-BKLYN-GP. The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast will also be available in Spanish via secondary audio programming (SAP).

Here is what the press conference participants had to say:

 ERROL SPENCE JR.

“You’re going to see the same Errol Spence that you’re used to. I can’t look ahead because I know how dangerous Lamont Peterson is. I’ve been in training camps with him and I know what he can do.

“I’ve seen too many fighters look down the road and get beat before they get to the big fight. I have to be 100 percent focused and hungry. I’m fully dedicated to this fight.

“Lamont can push me to even greater levels. I feel like he is a better fighter than Kell Brook and has even more heart than Kell Brook and he can bring out the best in me.

“I think it’s going to start out as a boxing match, but as we go on, it’s going to be a dog fight. We both have big hearts. I’ve never known Lamont to turn down any fight. Not a lot of people wanted to fight me. The big names shied away from me but Lamont stood up and said he’d fight me. This is going to be a hard fight.

“I used to watch Lamont and his brother Anthony Peterson before I ever met them. I like their styles, the way they throw body punches and the fundamentals that they learned from Barry Hunter.

“I think I can be known as the best pound-for-pound in the sport, but I have to take it one fight at a time. I want to be the undisputed welterweight champion. That should be everyone’s ultimate goal – to be the best fighter in the sport. But first I have a big test ahead of me January 20.

“This is the business of the sport. I was a young guy when Lamont was giving me advice. Now we’ve gotten to this point. It really shows his longevity in the sport and how I’ve reached the ranks of being a top pro fighter.

“Sparring with Lamont Peterson was really great work. It was a learning experience. I was an amateur so I was going at a fast pace and Lamont was being patient, blocking and countering and picking his shots. He was fighting at a pro pace and I didn’t really understand it until I got farther into my career.

“You’ve seen me and Lamont fight. We’re not in boring fights. We have fan-friendly styles and you’re going to get a really good fight. We have the mentality to really go after it and give it our all to get this win.

“I want the best in this division to all fight each other. It’s time for everyone else to stand up and proclaim that they want to be great. That’s how we get this division to the peak. I don’t feel like waiting to fight the best. I want to prove myself.”

LAMONT PETERSON

“This is a world title fight and I’m thankful for that. I try not to make too much out of each fight. I just want to take it one fight at a time. I’ve done this for 13 years as a professional. All fights are the same. I’m going to go in there and take care of business.

“As a top fighter, you’re obligated to take what comes on the table. Regardless of who it is. It’s boxing. It’s a sport and we’re competitors. We want to go in there and compete to see who’s the best. We’re going to treat it like business like we always do.

“You already know when I fight, it’s a feeling out process to start, but in my head, I’m ready to go. It’s going to get rough in the trenches and we’ll see who wants it more.

“I knew six years ago when Errol was in my camp that we’d get to this point. I knew he would be a champion. For the most part, I’ve seen him improve and progress throughout the pro ranks and I believe he’s going to keep getting better.

“I don’t pay any attention to the outside noise. I respect everyone’s opinion. I just go out and train to do what I love to do. I do this because I love to box. I’m not here to get on a list. I truly love this sport.

“I can’t worry about people thinking that Errol is the next star in this sport. I believe that, but I can’t worry about it.  It is up to me and my team to come up with the right type of strategy and execute it.

“I’m not too worried about figuring out his southpaw stance. I’ve been around long enough and encountered enough southpaws. I’m confident I’ll be able to handle it.

“The size may seem like an advantage for Errol, but it’s up to me and my team to figure out the best way to negate it. I know who I am. I’m a competitive person. Regardless of everything, I’m going to come to win.”

Lil Xan Talks Getting Advice From Kendrick Lamar

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvVSg4tKIfU

(AllHipHop News) It appears Kendrick Lamar is embracing his role as a veteran in the Hip Hop game by sharing tips with newcomers. Fellow California-raised performer Diego “Lil Xan” Leanos recently revealed a conversation he had with K. Dot.

“He gave me some advice over the phone, ’cause my manager, Stat Quo, was part of the whole G-Unit sh-t, so he was around Eminem and Kendrick,” Xan told Montreality. “Kendrick gave me the best advice on the f-cking phone. He told me how to invest my money, what to do, how to act.”

Lil Xan is perhaps best known for his single “Betrayed.” The video for the track has over 93 million views on YouTube. Other clips like “Slingshot” and “Far” reached the 15 million view mark on the site.

While his name is a derivative of the drug Xanax, Lil Xan insists his music movement is anti-drug. The Columbia Records signee stated, “My message to the youth is please stop abusing not only Xanax, but dumb sh-t like Ketamine, crack, and heroin. Just stop doing that sh-t. I’m trying to bring a positive message. F-ck Xanax 2018, that’s how we’re coming in.”

Pounds – “Francis Ford”

https://youtu.be/Msl6RBXCyBg

Rochester, N.Y.’s own Pounds drops a VHS-produced track from the rapper’s great October release, Rules and Parameters, that further demonstrated his knack for delivering lyrically vivid mafioso rap.

After all, this particular sub-genre is at its finest when emcees can bring such harsh, difficult stories to life with their words. And to say Pounds does that on “Francis Ford” would be an understatement.

The New York rapper is conflicted not just on the track, but in the video as well. Otto captures this with scenes of Pounds contemplating his life as a hustler and as a father, two hats he wears proudly but, again, with severe conflict. It’s for those reasons that when he spits bars like, “The city’s on fire so I gotta vent/ Make it past twenty’s an accomplishment,” you can feel that mental struggle.

Check out the visuals, and support Rules and Parameters which is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming services.

Jay Rock Talks New Album, ‘Black Panther’ Soundtrack & Black Hippy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGyF1VC6Xmc&feature=youtu.be

(AllHipHop News) A new project from Jay Rock is coming. The first taste from the LP came in the form of the track “King’s Dead” which features Kendrick Lamar, Future, and James Blake.

Besides being the lead single for Jay Rock’s upcoming full length, the record will also appear on Black Panther: The Album. The Top Dawg Entertainment emcee stopped by Power 106 to discuss both projects.

“I was in the studio working on my album and Dot [Lamar] was next door,” recalled Rock. “I walked in and he was like, ‘You want in on this Black Panther project?’ I’m thinking he’s on some revolutionary sh-t.”

The Watts rep continued, “He started laughing. He was like, ‘Nah, the Marvel movie – Black Panther.’ He played the beat, he had the hook, and I just did my thing.”

When it comes to his own third studio album, Jay Rock promises the set will show his growth. He added, “You grow, you get wiser. You go through trials and tribulations, and you’re going to hear it in the music.”

The interview also included The L.A. Leakers wondering about the long-delayed Black Hippy (Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul) project. They even got TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith on the phone.

“If I tell you, I gotta kill you,” responded Top Dawg after being asked when the Black Hippy project would be released.

Company Wants To Seize Wyclef’s Assets Over $500,000 House

(AllHipHop News) Wyclef Jean has been ordered to pay almost $500,000 for allegedly failing to pay up in a legal battle over his foreclosed Florida property.

The former Fugees star bought the Miami Beach mansion in 2004, taking out a $2 million mortgage through a company he owns with several friends.

However, the property was left unfinished following a string of legal problems with the construction, and in 2008, he was sued for defaulting on the mortgage.

A judge ordered it to be sold off at a foreclosure auction and hit Wyclef with a judgment of $2.4 million.

The mansion was sold to a third party for $1.6 million, which left a total of $824,000 to be paid by the “Perfect Gentleman” hitmaker.

He formed a deal with The Cruz Family Irrevocable Trust, a plaintiff in the lawsuit, and agreed to pay them $350,000 in monthly installments until it was paid off in 2015.

However, representatives for The Cruz Family Irrevocable Trust have claimed in court documents that the 48-year-old never made a single payment and a judge ordered the singer, his company and his cousin/producer Jerry ‘Wonda’ Duplessis, to pay the entire $350,000 judgment as well as interest – bringing the total to $485,000.

Officials at The Cruz Family Irrevocable Trust have filed documents in New Jersey to start the process of seizing Wyclef’s assets to collect the money they are allegedly owed.

Did Drake Confirm That He Had A Baby With This P### Star?

By Ne’Richa

(AllHipHop Rumors) The Hip Hop community has been buzzing for quite a while now amidst rumors that Drake has a seedling in his heritage.

Allegedly, the rap star has knocked up a Parisian p### star by the name of Sophia Brussieux, who goes by the name of “SophieKnowsBetter” on IG.

She must know much, because she’s been very public about her pregnancy and the paternity of the child.

Although his PR team have done little in alleviating the rumor mill, Drake has done very little to show guilt or innocence.

Well, until now. IG Stans caught Drake following Sophie’s IG Page.

He unfollowed her shortly afterwards, maybe at a feeble attempt for damage control. But, as they always say, what’s done on the Gram will eventually come to light…

Do you think Drake really fathered this child, or was the woman just thirsty for attention?!

Oprah Praises Ava DuVernay For Work On Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time”

https://youtu.be/kEEBq1vDTa8

From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic.

The story takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love.

A Wrinkle in Time is a story about a girl named Meg who is imperfect, she’s all of us, she’s in a package that’s much different that most cinematic superheros. She’s a black girl with glasses and its the idea that any of us can be a hero,” Ava said.

Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

“I think that the particular discipline, organization and artful eye that Ava brings to the art inspires everyone thats working for her,” Oprah said of Ava.

Check out this behind-the-scenes look at Disney’s upcoming “A Wrinkle in Time” which debuted last night during TV One’s broadcast of the 49th Annual NAACP Image Awards.

“A Wrinkle in Time” opens nationwide on March 9, 2018.
