Pete Davidson: I Would Have Killed Myself If It Wasn’t For Kid Cudi (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Kid Cudi has been in the news a lot the last few weeks.

The “Day ‘n’ Nite” rhymer made headlines for a Twitter rant taking aim at Kanye West and Drake for using multiple writers on their songs.

Soon after that situation, Cudi announced he was dealing with depression and suicidal urges, and he checked himself into rehab.

Then on this week, Drake faced significant backlash for “Two Birds, One Stone” song lyrics that appeared to bash Cudi for his battle with mental health issues.

Recently, SNL cast member Pete Davidson stopped by The Breakfast Club, and the stand-up comedian revealed Cudi played a significant part in his adolescence.

“If you’re 25 and under, I truly believe that Kid Cudi saved your life,” said Davidson.

He added, “I would’ve killed myself. Absolutely. One hundred percent. I truly believe if [Cudi’s debut studio album] Man On The Moon didn’t come out, I wouldn’t be here.”

The 22-year-old New Yorker also spoke about communicating with the Ohio rapper since he began his stint in rehabilitation.

“I texted with him, maybe, last Monday and he’s in really good spirits. I think I might go see him next week, ” stated Davidson.

Pete Davidson’s Comedy Central special SMD airs October 29 at 11 pm ET.

A$AP Mob Announces Release Date For ‘Cozy Tapes Vol 1: Friends’ (COVER ART/TRACKLIST)

(AllHipHop News) Members of the A$AP Mob have been talking about the crew’s A$AP Yams inspired Cozy Tapes for several months.

“The music is pretty much done. It’s in the process of being mixed,” A$AP Ferg told AllHipHop.com in June. “I don’t have a date, but it should be out real soon.”

The Mob is now ready to drop Cozy Tapes Vol 1: Friends on Monday, October 31.

Before the compilation hits the internet next week, the Harlem collective will release the singles “Telephone Calls” and “Runner” on Friday, October 28.

Cozy Tapes Vol 1: Friends is based on the blueprint formed by Yams prior to his death in early  2015.

“[Cozy Tapes is] the Yams album he was working on before he passed. It’s basically like an A$AP collective like your Ruff Ryders’ Ryde or Die Vol. 1 or [The Diplomats’] Diplomatic Immunity,” explained A$AP Rocky earlier this year. “[Yams] wrote down in his notes, and he would tell me who he wanted on there. We were about to start working on it.”

Kid Cudi’s Manager Believes Drake Is Corny AF!

Awww man! As you know, Drake came out swinging and taking shots at everyone with the four songs he released over the weekend.

The hype has been less about his forthcoming project, ‘More Life’, and more about the insensitive shots Drizzy took at Kid Cudi on “2 Birds, 1 Stone.”

Drake rapped,

“You were the man on the moon. Now you just go through your phases. I’m like a real estate agent, putting you all in your places. Look what happens soon as you talk to me crazy. Is you crazy?”

The shots seem to directly attack Kid Cudi’s current struggles with mental health. Cudi is currently receiving treatment in rehab for suicidal urges as well as depression.

Drake didn’t even apologize to him and Cudi’s fans who felt his lyrics were distasteful. Instead, he stated that Cudi and, we guess, other rappers alike need to keep his name out of their mouths.

Fans weren’t the only ones outraged by Drake’s lyrics. Kid Cudi’s manger Dennis Cummings took to Twitter to blast Drake for being corny and fake. He tweeted,

“How Aubrey and his writers take a shot with the same hands they used to beg for a feature?”

How do you feel about Drake’s lyrics? Were they that insensitive?

Ray J Plans To Clap Back At Kanye West With Chris Brown?

Rumor has it that singer and Love & Hip Hop Hollywood star Ray J is getting ready to clap back at Kanye West and his “Famous” with and assist from Chris Brown.

According to Billboard the singer said,

“I really wasn’t going to put out another album because I was doing my tech and bikes, but I went in the studio, and I felt like I was just connecting with the music. The bars started coming.”

Apparently Ray’s version of “Famous” will be featured on his visual album ‘Raydemption’.

‘Raydemption’ is Ray’s first studio album since 2008, and it will be streamed exclusively on LookHu.com.

According to LookHu’s CEO, Byron Booker,

“The visual album will be “a controversial record in which Ray sets the record straight, reclaims his power, and moves forward. [Chris Brown] is going to be talking about his rendezvous with certain celebrities in his past, as well as certain women that he helped catapult to fame.””

With Soulja Boy & Bow Wow recently dropping a joint album, you know we have to ask: are you interested in new music from Ray J in 2016? Do you think he can top Ye’s “Famous” as far as controversy?

Kanye West Shouts Out Kid Cudi During Concert After Drake Diss (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s longstanding relationship with Kid Cudi includes numerous song collaborations.

The two Midwest representatives reconnected for tracks off Ye’s 2016 album The Life Of Pablo.

Despite a very public spat last month, Kanye showed love to Cudi during a recent show.

The G.O.O.D. Music founder once again shouted out the “Frequency” rhymer at his stop in Inglewood, California.

“So Cudi is in rehab right now, but he got a #1 song on the radio, and I want you to sing so he can hear it,” Kanye told the crowd before going into the hook of the “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1.”

Cudi has also been a subject of a lot of conversation this week because Drake released the song “Two Birds, One Stone” which included disses directed at his rival.

Some social media uses took issue with what appeared to be an attack by Drake against Cudi’s mental health problems.

Drake then posted a comment on Instagram responding to a fan criticizing his lyrics aimed at Cudi.

The Toronto native wrote, “man needs to stop mentioning my name when they get geeked [okay] supposed to be all love out here word to my bro Pablo [Kanye West].

Hillary Clinton Talks Police Brutality, Systemic Racism & Jay Z On ‘The Breakfast Club’ (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton returned to The Breakfast Club.

While the former Secretary of State is leading in most election polls, Clinton used the nationally syndicated radio show to try and connect with Hip Hop followers.

Many topics were discussed during the interview including police brutality and systemic racism.

“That’s one of the highest priorities that I’ve had throughout this campaign because it’s something we have to be honest about,” said Clinton. “We have to face up to systemic racism. We see it in jobs. We see it in education. We see it in housing. Let’s be really clear, it’s a big part of what we’re facing in the criminal justice system.”

Clinton stated she will work to restore bonds between the police and the communities they patrol.

She also recounted meeting with the Mothers Of The Movement.

The group of women that lost loved ones to police violence or gun violence appeared at the Democratic National Convention in July.

When it comes to actual policies, Clinton wants to see a more comprehensive approach to addressing police reform.

“We need better police training. I think there should be national standards on the use of legal force. I think one of the big problems we’ve got – and police tell me this – is most police don’t know how to deal with mental health problems. So we need better mental health response,” said the ex-New York Senator. “There’s fear on both sides, and the best way to break down that fear is to spend time with somebody, put yourself in somebody else’s shoes.”

Numerous Hip Hop stars have announced their plan to vote for Clinton this year.

NYC emcee/mogul Jay Z recently revealed he will hold a “Get Out The Vote” performance in Ohio in support of Clinton.

Ohio is one of the key swing states that will play a huge role in determining which candidate will be the next Commander In Chief.

“Jay Z is doing a concert. I’m thrilled to have his support because I think one of the biggest jobs that I will face – assuming everything goes well – is how are we going to heal all these divides,” added Clinton.

In addition, Sec. Clinton was celebrating her 69th birthday.

Music legend Stevie Wonder was present to sing his “Happy Birthday” song for her.

We brought Stevie Wonder in to sing Happy Bday to Hillary Clinton (she don’t know that yet tho) tune in!!! @breakfastclubam

Dave East Is Staying Out Of Cam’ron & Jim Jones’ Beef

Jim Jones and Cam’ron and their brotherly love and hate relationship keeps us laughing. It even gave us a few laughs when it made its way into Hip Hop newcomer Dave East’s Instagram comments.

East made a post about Cam passing him the torch for Harlem, and Jim Jones decided to tell East to tell Cam to make him Dipset then.

Cam fired back at Jones telling Dave East that Jim Jones really doesn’t f-ck with East, and he had, in fact, been talking about him behind his back.

Dave stopped by Power 105.1 and spoke with Angie Martinez about how Cam and Jim Jones jumped in his comments to fight.

East said he didn’t feel like his Instagram was the place for that, but he laughed at it like everyone else. East says he was just trying to pay homage to both as he’s known both rappers for a long time.

East says he didn’t jump in because he didn’t have anything to do with it. He was comment creeping and tea sipping like the rest of us.

Dave also says he didn’t jump in because they can do that, as only Jim & Cam really know what’s up.

Big Freedia Drops Song “The Tony” with New Orleans Pelicans Star Anthony Davis

New Orleans Bounce rapper Big Freedia has linked with New Orleans Pelicans All-Star, Anthony Davis, for the new track “The Tony.”

Trick Daddy Has Successfully P##### Off Black Women Today!

Well Trick Daddy successfully p##### off all black women today.

Trick took to his Instagram to tell black women that they needed to tighten up because “the Spanish and white hoes are getting finer.”

Trick criticized black women for doing all of the extra stuff like getting butt and breast enhancements and paying $150 to get their makeup done, but truly failing to achieve anything.

Trick Daddy says,

“If they f-ck around and learn how to fry chicken you hoes is useless.”

Now how could Trick not know black women wouldn’t be completely outraged. It’s already crazy enough that some black men already don’t want to date black women because of stereotypes and various off-the-wall beliefs.

The real question is has anyone handed Trick Daddy a mirror?!!? A fan commented on his page telling him that he looks like he’s embalmed seven days a week.

EXCLUSIVE: Maggie Carrie Talks Being Shot During Troy Ave Incident & Appearing On MTV’s ‘True Life’

(AllHipHop Features) For days after the tragic shooting at New York City’s Irving Plaza on May 25, most of the media attention was focused on Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave taking a bullet in the leg and subsequently being charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

However, another person lost their life that night and two other individuals were wounded. Among the victims of the gunfight that took place inside the Manhattan venue was an innocent bystander named Maggie Carrie Heckstall.

The model was in a backstage green room for the T.I. headlining concert when several shots rang out. Maggie, a guest of NYC emcee Maino, was struck in the leg and is still recovering from her injuries five months later.

Besides her attorneys addressing pending legal action against Irving Plaza, Maggie has mostly remained quiet about the ordeal that caused her femur to be fractured. The Jersey City native is now speaking out about the traumatic experience on an episode of MTV’s Emmy-winning docuseries True Life.

True Life: I’ve Been Shot follows Maggie and Nashville deejay Jamarrius Kelly as the two entertainers tell their respective stories of overcoming gun violence. The program also highlights reports that African-Americans are more than twice as likely to die from gun violence than Caucasians and shooters of black people are less likely to be arrested than someone that shoots a white person.

In this interview with AllHipHop.com, Maggie Carrie talks about appearing on the latest season of True Life. The 26-year-old aspiring singer also gives more details about the lasting effects of being shot and offers advice to other people that are battling back from a gun attack.

How are you doing?

I’m getting better. I’m about 80%.

You had to go through a lot of therapy for your injury. Physically, where are you at this point?

At this point, I stopped going to therapy. I started going to the gym for a weak quad and a weak gluteus medius. I feel like therapy was kind of slow. They’re too gentle for me, so I started going to the gym myself and using the pool. The weather bothers my leg a lot. I’m still not back in heels. I can’t run. My leg gives out here and there. It buckles once or twice a day.

That’s a serious injury. How has it impacted your career?

For recording, it takes a lot of hours in the booth. I can’t stand for those hours. I was bartending, but I can’t wear heels. I was doing Wild ‘N Out. They had parties that I couldn’t go to because I’m not back in heels. I can’t do much of what I was doing before the incident.

Because it has affected your life so much, is it hard to think about that day?

It’s very hard to think about that day, but it’s reality. Thinking about that day is not the real hard part. It’s being able to go to another concert or go to my old neighborhood and not feeling safe or feeling vulnerable.

Why did you decide to tell your story on True Life?

True Life contacted me while I was still in the hospital. Maybe two or three days after I got shot. I was totally against doing it. This is too much. It’s a personal matter. After being in bed for three weeks, I was just like, “You know what? I’m going to do it.” A whole bunch of news organizations were hitting me up. I said, “I’m not going to do [interviews]. So I might as well document it.” Even though they didn’t get it from day one, it was something for me to do. It was time. I was getting out of the bed and I started going to therapy. It made me feel a little bit more like myself.

The episode focuses on two people that have been victims of gun violence. Has this experience changed your view on gun control laws?

No, I feel like no matter what, it’s going to be guns in the streets. We can try hard. We can remove a lot. It’s still some that’s going to slip through the cracks. I just feel like if I’m going to a place that has security and metal detectors, they need to do their best at that place. It wasn’t at a cookout. It wasn’t in the street. It was at a place that had metal detectors and security. It should have been enforced. It’s not going to stop, so places that I go should be safe and their security should be enforced.

Are you still pursuing legal action against Irving Plaza?

Yes.

What about your relationship with the NYPD? You were vocal that you felt they were mistreating you and not really supportive of you as a victim. Has that changed?

I haven’t spoken with the NYPD since I was in the hospital. I never had to go into the precinct. But when I tell you the precinct came to me…  they had my floor blocked off. They were just the worst. The last call I had with an officer, he hung up on me and told me that he has been up for two days when I was trying to get my family to the hospital. Then a lady came in and asked if I left the bullet in me on purpose. They treated me so bad that I don’t even want to hear anything they have to say. They can deliver whatever they have to say through my lawyers. I don’t have to speak to them at all.

Do you know if they’re still pursuing the investigation?

I don’t really know. I’m pretty sure they are. I’m pretty sure it’s an ongoing case. I don’t think it would be over that fast. It’s been about four months. I don’t think anyone is in jail. But they aren’t asking me anything.

My day in a nutshell. Follow up appt w| mvp @thelifeofsosa & back home ?: maggiecarriee

Have you heard from Troy Ave or T.I. since the shooting?

I don’t know Troy Ave. I’ve never met him. T.I. knows a friend of mine. So he contacted a friend of mine when I was in the hospital and apologized. Not on his behalf, because he didn’t have anything to do with it, I don’t think. [The apology] was just for the whole incident and being that it was his show. It was really sweet.

Are you still close with Maino?

Yeah, we’re very close.

Your music is another focus of True Life. What’s the status of your recording process?

I’m currently trying to see if I can last six hours on a plane to record with my old producer. He lives in L.A., so I need to get out there. I’m also trying to find new people to work with out here because I don’t want to fly to L.A. every time I want to record. But it’s kind of hard to find somebody with that same vibe. So for now, I’m writing at home and trying to get ready for that flight.

For a lot of people, this incident is their first introduction to you. How do you think you’ll be able to push past that [characterization] and let people see you as a musical artist?

Getting shot is a tragedy. It’s not like I was the shooter. I’m the victim, so I don’t think being a victim will affect my music in any way. To the outsider looking in, I just hope they get some type of message from me. Not even musically, but just to be safe wherever you are. It doesn’t matter how you look, what you do, where you’re from, how old you are – they’re hitting everybody.

As someone who has experienced it, what would you say to someone else who may be a fan of you or who may just look to you as someone that has gone through this horrible situation? What would you say to someone that has gone through that too?

We got to be strong. It’s a lot of people who are unfortunately not here. So the fact that this tragedy happened to us, we made it and we’re blessed. We’re supposed to be here for a reason to tell our stories. Pay attention. There are many different messages you get from it. But you can’t let it break you.

Queen Latifah Receives Highest Honor From Prince Albert II Of Monaco

(AllHipHop News) Queen Latifah received the highest honor of the Princess Grace Awards for her contribution to the arts on Monday night (Oct 24).

The “Chicago” actress was handed the Prince Rainier III Award, named after the husband of late actress and Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly, for giving back to the arts community.

She was chosen for the honor by the executives of the Princess Grace Foundation-USA, which awards grants and scholarships to emerging talents in theater, dance and film.

Upon accepting the award, she thanked her art teacher mother, saying, “I watched her develop their self-esteem, experience and their zest for life. Just the idea, that if they dream big they can go for it, was something they learned in her art class.”

Prince Albert II of Monaco, the son of Kelly and Prince Rainier III, said the foundation was privileged to give the award to the 46-year-old when it was announced earlier this month.

“She has demonstrated a devotion to helping others throughout her illustrious career as an award-winning actress, musician, and producer,” he said in a statement. “Her deep commitment to AIDS and cancer research and to programs that help the hungry, youth, women and LGBTQ community have made a difference in the lives of so many.”

The actress, who receives a grant of $25,000 to be given to an organization of her choice, follows in the footsteps of Julie Andrews, Dick Van D###, Denzel Washington, Glenn Close, and George Lucas, among others.

Former Hamilton star Leslie Odom, Jr. and choreographer Camille Brown were honored with the Princess Grace Statue Award for their work in the arts at the ceremony, which was hosted by supermodel Naomi Campbell at Cipriani 25 Broadway in New York City.

Leslie previously revealed to People magazine he received a $25,000 grant from the Foundation in 2002 to help him pay for college tuition and said the program was “a huge help to my family and it changed my life.”

The Foundation was founded in 1982 by Prince Rainier III after the death of Grace Kelly earlier that year at the age of 52.
