Ice Cube and Dr. Dre Removed As Defendants In Suge Knight Murder Case

(AllHipHop News) Former N.W.A. bandmates Ice Cube and Dr. Dre have been removed as defendants from a lawsuit over the death of a bystander on the set of their biopic “Straight Outta Compton.”

Rap mogul Marion ‘Suge’ Knight, who features in the hit movie, ran over one of the film’s technical advisers, Cle ‘Bone’ Sloan, and businessman Terry Carter as he attempted to flee the set following an altercation in January, 2015.

Carter was killed and Knight has since been charged with a hit and run, and last summer, the dead man’s widow filed a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against Knight, Cube and Dre, claiming “reckless corporate greed, disguised as a quest for authenticity,” led to “a foreseeable altercation that resulted in the death of a successful businessman.”

Cube and Dre, who were not around at the time of the incident, responded to the suit by insisting they committed no malfeasance, and that their only affirmative act was a “specific request” that Sloan direct Knight to leave the base camp for the film.

Now a judge overseeing the case has accepted the pair’s argument and cleared them of any responsibility in Carter’s death, insisting they cannot be blamed for Knight’s actions, reports TMZ.com.

Knight remains a defendant in the case.

He is currently being held behind bars and is due to stand trial for the murder of Carter and attempted murder of Sloan in February.

Safaree Drops Lawsuit Against Nicki Minaj and Says Meek Mill Played Role In Breakup

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj’s ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels has dropped all legal action against the rapper because he didn’t want to deal with the court process.

The former lovers split in 2014 after 12 years together, and the break-up turned nasty as they exchanged a number of bitter messages on social media.

Shortly after they parted ways, Safaree was rumored to have filed an unpaid royalties lawsuit against the “Super Bass” hitmaker, claiming he is owed money for allegedly helping Nicki write her rhymes.

Safaree stepped up the legal fight in May, when he reportedly had the Hip-Hop star served with papers accusing her of subjecting him to emotional and physical abuse during their relationship, allegations Nicki promptly slammed in an angry Twitter message.

She wrote, “Two years later this poor excuse of a man (Safaree) is suing me & claiming to have been physically & emotionally abused. Lol (laugh out loud). He’s so miserable.”

However, it appears Nicki will no longer have to worry about airing out her personal life in court as Safaree reveals he has since decided to withdraw his lawsuit.

Safaree, who now appears on reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood,” claims he chose to dismiss the court action because he didn’t want the dispute to drag on and prevent him from finally enjoying a fresh start.

“I’m doing a lot and I don’t want to have to deal with depositions and courts and all of that,” he continued, adding, “Ain’t nobody threatened me (sic). Ain’t nobody make me do it. At the end of the day, I didn’t even wanna do it… I just dropped it.”

He has also confirmed rumors suggesting Nicki’s new man, Meek Mill, played a role in their 2014 split, amid speculation the “Ima Boss” rapper had exposed Safaree’s supposed infidelity to Minaj, saying Meek definitely played a role in their breakup.

Nicki, who moved on to date Meek in early 2015, has not commented on Safaree’s revealing interview.

Michel’le Dares Dr. Dre To Sue Her!

Singer Michel’le is sticking to her side of the story in regards to her former relationship with Dr. Dre in her forthcoming biopic, ‘Surviving Compton’.

Michel’le was signed to Eazy E’s Ruthless Records, and Dr. Dre produced her self-titled debut album. The album gave us her popular hit “Something In My Heart”.

Despite Michel’le’s success, she suffered some pretty bad physical abuse at the hands of Dr. Dre.

Although their relationship was turbulent, Michel’le never called the police, so there is no record of the abuse.

Michel’le sat down with Wendy Williams, where Williams asked Michel’le why did she stay in the abusive relationship.

“After the first hit, you don’t think they’re going to do it again. I didn’t call the police because I didn’t want him to go to jail,” said Michel’le.

Dre has never apologized directly to Miche’le, but he did come out an issue an apology to all of the women he hurt over the years.

The film is due out later this month, and it’s suspected that Dre may sue Michel’le for defamation. Michel’le encourages Dre to sue her because she says he knows there were witnesses to the abuse.

“Please take me, because you have to do depositions and that’s when you have to tell the truth,” she said.

Beanie Sigel Issues Threats To Meek and His Crew In Second Diss Track “Goodnight”

(AllHipHop News) Beanie Sigel has dropped another diss record titled “Goodnight,” his second diss record aimed at Meek Mill.

The latest track comes on the heels of his previously released track “I’m Coming,” which Beans dropped earlier this week.

It seems as if Beans was just getting warm with “I’m Coming,” because he goes straight at Meek Mill on this new song “Goodnight.”

Meek has yet to respond with music to Beanie, but he did throw some shade toward the State Property leader on his Instagram page, claiming he was directly responsible for the Philly Cypher during the BET Hip Hop Awards which featured State Property members Peedi Crakk, Neef, Omillio Sparks, Freeway, and Beanie Sigel reuniting.

“I’m the one who pitched a Philly cypher and getting Philly more involved with BET,” Meek wrote on Instagram. “Alley ooping a n-gga that’s throwing shade but still catching blessings!”

That didn’t stop Beanie from dropping his new song, which accuses Meek of not really being street, and threatens to push Meek’s s##t to the white meat,” amongst other threats.

Beanie was roped into Meek Mill’s feud with Game. Their beef started when Game accused Meek of snitching on him after Sean Kingston was robbed of $300,000 in jewelry. Beanie made a brief appearance on Meek’s reply to Game’s original diss to Meek titled “92 Bars.”

Game followed up with a song called “Pest Control,” which trashed Meek and his crew, while featuring a brief appearance from Beanie.

Beanie was later assaulted at the Bad Boy Reunion tour stop in Philly, by an associate of Meek’s named Teefy Be, after Beans allegedly had an improper conversation with Game in the middle of the beef.

Is Desiigner’s Whole Persona & Style A Gimmick?!

Lawd knows most people are tired of Desiigner.

Sure “Panda” was catchy and featured a nice beat. “Timmy Turner” had traction but look, his style is getting pretty old, and quite frankly, we are tired of trying to decipher his lyrics.

Interestingly enough, new footage surfaced of Desiigner rapping before the fame, and get this, we can kind of understand him!

We are wondering how long the kid will last. It’s hard to believe that he’s only 19, and it’s even harder to believe he’s not on drugs.

What’s behind Desiigner’s whole current persona?! Is it a gimmick? Do you prefer the old style in the video below?! Even closed captioning gives up on Desiigner! Carry on…

Chance The Rapper Shares His Picks For Album Of The Year, Addresses Racism In The Music Industry

(AllHipHop News) The nomination process for the 2017 Grammys is close to beginning.

Billboard caught up with three potential Best New Artist nominees –  Alessia Cara, Maren Morris, and breakout Hip Hop performer Chance The Rapper.

The publication asked the three rising stars whether Adele’s 25 or Beyoncé’s Lemonade should be crowned Album Of The Year at the Grammys.

Chance gave a nod to Auntie Yoncé, but he also made an argument for his own critically acclaimed project.

“I thought Lemonade was a well-structured album, politically vocal, streets-ready and cohesive. Not to say that Adele’s album didn’t have any of those things, but I only heard it, I think, once,” replied Chance. “Coloring Book would be a strong contender for album of the year, too. I’m not coming for Beyoncé at all. She will be nominated but I’m just saying, why not Coloring Book for album of the year?”

The last few years have seen a lot of attention placed on what is perceived as a lack of diversity at major award shows like the Grammys and Oscars.

While the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has honored numerous people of color, there has still been criticism that the “Big Three” awards – Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Record Of The Year – rarely go to artists that are not white.

Chance spoke about the challenges that people of color face in relation to the Grammy Awards and the music industry.

“Colorism and racism don’t stop when you’re a musician or when you have wealth or when you’re in any given position,” said the Chicago representative. “Kendrick [Lamar] going home Grammy-less [in 2014, when he was nominated in seven categories] was an awesome moment for people to recognize that it plagues us regardless of talent or skill.”

Vashtie Pens Open Letter To Kid Cudi After The Rapper Checks Into Rehab For Depression

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this week, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi revealed he was checking himself into rehab because he was battling depression and dealing with suicidal thoughts.

The Cleveland-raised rapper/actor received support from fans and colleagues from around the world.

In addition, Cudi was praised for being willing to acknowledge his mental illness, an admission many men will not openly speak about.

Vashtie took it a step further in displaying her appreciation for her longtime friend.

The DJ, designer, and music video director posted an open letter to Cudi on her website.

Read Vashtie’s open letter below.

We’ve come a long way since our downtown New York City years. You worked at the Bape store and I was just starting my brand Violette while doing the parties at Santos with Q-Tip.

It seems like just yesterday we were in my apartment doing imporomptu skits for YouTube and acting foolish at every club we were let into.

But, in fact, it’s been a very long time since I’ve actually seen you friend. The funny days and crazy nights we had still echo in my heart.

I remember us getting made fun of when we walked into clubs wearing Supreme t-shirts and Jordans. That was back when labels didn’t think there was a “market” for your music and you refused to bend.

You were always surfin’ your own wave — even back then when being different was utterly the uncoolest thing to the mainstream. It’s much different now with clones of clones and the social media era. Now everyone wants to be on this “I’m different” trend. Maybe that’s why we became friends, because we mirrored each other in that way.

But you were always more courageous and unapologetic. Something I always admired. You owned your weirdness and were never afraid about what others thought.

Reading your confession today made me cry sadness, yet happiness.

Sad because, although we artists always battle internal suffering (humans in general, I guess), it’s difficult when the pain outweighs the joy and seeing a friend in pain is hard. But on the other hand, I am so very happy. Happy that you were able to recognize it and make a positive change for yourself, your family and your fans.

Most of us live with our depression, masking it for others and numbing it with food, alcohol, sex, drugs and even social media. Think about how many of us eat when we are sad, bury ourselves in our phones to mute out the people around us or have a drink to take the edge off a hard day – it’s numbing the pain and we all do it  or have done it in our own way.

But, it takes courage to recognize it, speak it out loud and commit to healing.

I guess this is just another way you are starting a new trend, blazing a new trail in your usual “Kid Cudi” fashion. For that, I thank you. You represent so many of us who struggle with the internal wars that we wage on ourselves, but speaking your truth will only inspire the rest of us.

No matter how long or how far, I have nothing but love for you Scott <3

xo, Vashtie.

50 Cent’s New Mixtape May Be Here Sooner Than You Think

50 Cent fans have been urging 50 to focus on his music instead of petty social media antics for a while. It appears that fans will now get what they’ve been waiting for as DJ Whoo Kid has been in the studio mixing songs off of 50’s forthcoming mixtape.

G-Unit fans have had it good as Whoo Kid presented a collection of unreleased music from 50 Cent, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and Kidd Kidd last month.

The real question is where is Street King Immortal? Are you here for new 50 Cent music?

Lil Wayne Gave A Skate Park To The Kids In New Orleans

(AllHipHop News) Even though Lil Wayne is going through a difficult, $51 million dollar lawsuit with Cash Money Records, the veteran rapper continues to give to his local hometown of New Orleans.

Wayne hosted his 2nd Annual Lil Weezyana Fest on August 27. The four-hour concert featured performances by Migos, 2 Chainz, Yo Gotti, Mystikal and of course Lil Wayne himself.

The concert, which took place in Champion Square, also featured a pop-up skate park, that was built by California based company OC Ramps.

OC Ramps is owned by businessman Tyler Large and family, who have been building skate ramps in Orange County since 1997.

The company built Wayne’s pop-up skate park, which was a hit, and attracted professional skaters like Dave Bachinsky, Jordan Hoffart, Tom Ryen and Christian Sereika.

After the concert, the ramps were scheduled to be broke down and shipped off to California.

But Lil Wayne decided he wanted to donate the ramps and the rails from the park at Lil Weezyana Fest to a skate park in New Orleans called Parasite.

The rapper was feeling philanthropic after the concert in his hometown, especially after witnessing the destruction caused by a massive storm that battered the state in August, causing  billions of dollars of damage to the city.

“We figured this is the least we can do in a moment of crisis,” a rep for OC Ramps stated.  “We love skateboarding and we love the city of New Orleans.  We have nothing but love for the skaters out there and hope they continue to enjoy the skate obstacles as long as possible.”

The gesture shows Lil Wayne’s commitment to the local community, especially after his own Trukfit skate park in the Lower 9th Ward, which closed to the public in August of 2014.

Cassidy Talks The Game, Meek Mill & Beanie Sigel Feuds (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Cassidy is one of the rappers to have gone head-to-head with Meek Mill.

As Meek continues to take shots from Los Angeles’ The Game and Philadelphia’s Beanie Sigel, Cassidy sat down with ThisIs50 to talk about the feuds.

The Philly rhymer admitted he was not closely following the situation, but he allowed his younger associates to kind of keep him posted on the happenings.

Even with his limited knowledge of the back-and-forth, Cassidy explained why he has no plans to jump into the dispute.

“I don’t feel no type of way about it. I see a lot of people commenting on social media like, ‘Yo, help Meek for Philly. You should really help Meek.’ It’s like, ‘What?’ Meek never helped me do nothing,” said Cass. “When I had problems paying a bill or something, it’s like, ‘Where was Meek?'”

According to Cassidy, he made money with The Game but never with Meek Mill.

The “I’m A Hustla” rhymer also stated he is happy to see competition in Hip Hop, but he just wants to see it stay about music and not violence.

Cassidy also suggested he did not fully understand why Beanie Sigel got involved in the conflict.

“I never knew Meek and Beans to be [a] team. I could see if a n-gga went at Freeway, then you have Beans. The man went at Meek and you heard Beans. I was kind of confused,” stated Cassidy.

In addition, the 34-year-old Split Personality album creator called on his city to refrain from turning the Meek versus Game battle into a Philly versus Cali or East Coast versus West Coast beef.
