Wiggin’ Out: Nicki Minaj And Personal Wig Maker Settle $30 Million Lawsuit

(AllHipHop News) Fans of Nicki Minaj can rest assured the femcee is no-longer at risk to lose millions of her hard earned dollars.

According to reports by TheJasmineBrand.com, the hair former designer for Nicki Minaj, Terrance Davidson, has dismissed all claims against the voluptuous chart-topping female rapper.

In February of 2014 Nicki was slapped with a lawsuit from her Davidson for $30 million, after claims that she stole designs from her “wig guru.”

Davidson alleged that Minaj was selling and licensing his wig designs made exclusively for her,

Their partnership began in January of 2010 when he designed numerous wigs for Nicki and continued until 2013 when he left over “creative differences.”

He also claimed that The Pinkprint rapper was dodging promises to feature Davidson in a reality television show that never aired.

Davidson says that Nicki’s management encouraged Davidson to not partake in a multi-million dollar TV show in order to preserve his partnership with the multi-platinum femcee.

When the suit originally settled, Terrence Davidson was to be awarded nothing from the suit as a judge agreed with Nicki after learning that there was no paperwork on any of their agreements.

The legal back and forth then continued last year in April as Davidson then filed an appeal .

The now dismissed appeal stated that while Nicki and Terrence had no written contract, that didn’t mean the rapper could steal his designs and sell them on her own.

Recently Nicki was rumored to have been responsible for the Nick Young/Iggy Azalea/D’Angelo Russell debacle that’s fueled gossip sites in recent weeks.

There has been no word on the suit from Nicki Minaj or her legal team at the time of publication.

Young Dolph South Carolina Show Canceled After Alabama Concert Erupts In Violence

(AllHipHop News) A sold out Young Dolph concert in South Carolina has been canceled.

According to Fox News 6,  the concert which was scheduled at the Memmenger Auditorium in Charleston and was subsequently dumped by Spoleto Festival USA, Inc. due to safety concerns.

Organizers allege the Charleston Police refused to provide security, an accusation the Charleston police deny.

Despite the sold-out concert in South Carolina, Charleston Police are seeking to neutralize any violence reported at other Dolph shows.

Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis said a police lieutenant in charge of event planning uncovered shootings at two separate Young Dolph concerts in Charlotte and in Dallas.

Just days earlier, a Young Dolph concert in Montgomery, Alabama broke out in violence and made headlines across the Internet.

While details are still sketchy, in the video that was uploaded to VladTV.com, it’s clear that people were being thrown over tables as concert goers scrambled for safety.

Rumors began to surface after the Alabama show that Young Dolph got his chain stolen by goons, but several recent Instagram posts say otherwise.

In an Instagram post Sunday night,  Young Dolph made no references to the incident or his cancelled show saying “i shut Montgomery down last night… Tonight we in Pittsburgh wit it ?? #PaperRouteEMPIRE”

It’s been a tumultuous few months for Young Dolph as his publicly known beef between Young Dolph and Yo Gotti reached a peak recently.

Some have speculated that the incidents in Alabama, Charlotte and Dallas are related to the battle for the “Crown of Memphis” with Yo Gotti.

Last month the beef picked up with Yo Gotti when Dolph said he was intimate with Yo Gotti’s baby mama on a song rapping,  “Any ngga that record when it’s time for gangsta sht. He the police …and I f*cked your boss man baby mama same hotel 4 weeks. Never send a little boy to take care of grown man business. If I was you I’d be mad at me too..so I ain’t tripping.”

Refunds are expected for the show and Young Dolph is not reported to have been involved in any of the shootings at the time of print.

Manny Pacquaio On Anti-Gay Controversy: “Who Am I To Condemn Anyone?”

Last week, AHH reporter Kylie Krabbe was able to catch up with world renown boxer Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38KOs) during his last media workout at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles, CA before leaving for his April 9th battle at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada to compete for the third time against Timothy Bradley, Jr. (33-1-1, 13KOs) in what is being billed as Manny Pacquiao’s farewell professional fight.

With much public debate swirling even within Pacquiao’s own camp that this is indeed the illustrious Filipino fighter’s last professional fight, our correspondent had many questions also – including exactly what Pacquiao’s stance is today in regards to the anti-gay statements attributed to him in the Philippino press that ultimately lost the boxer/congressman his longstanding and profitable sponsorship with American multinational corporation titan NIKE.

See the full interview below and make your own conclusions in the wake of the lead up to Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley Jr., scheduled for April 9, 2016 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada live on HBO PPV, 9pm ET/6pm PT:

UPDATE: D’Angelo Russell Speaks On Nick Young And Iggy Azalea Drama, Says He’d “Get Physical Back” If Confronted

(AllHipHop News) In the aftermath of last week’s saga surrounding the leaked video of the Los Angeles Lakers’ Nick Young confessing infidelity, D’Angelo Russell is letting his feelings be known.

In a candid interview with ESPN, D’Angelo spoke about the situation and elaborated on the current vibe of the locker room since the leaked video hit the internet.

“It’s at the point where you need your space,” Russell told ESPN of his relationship with Nick Young.  “You can’t force peace. You have to let time heal it.”

“I’m getting over it,” Russell said. “But if the person that it hurt the most gets over it, then I feel like it’s done. Until he lets it simmer down, then I think it will still be an issue.”

Iggy thanked D’Angelo publicly via Twitter for uploading the video and since has been said to be “chillin” On Nick Young.

While the team leans on time to heal the situation, in the mean time D’Angelo let it be known that he would get physical if confronted by Nick Young or any other teammate in regards to the incident.

“I would get physical back,” D’Angelo explained . “It’s a point where you try to solve it the right way with words, but if we’re at the point where there’s a sign of disrespect or violence is involved, sometimes you have to let people feel you and let people know, if you disrespect this guy, you know you have to bring it.”

“Win or lose, the respect is still going to be there. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s gotten to that point or it’s there yet, but if it does, you have to deal with the consequences.”

While rumors are circulating about a Nick Young leaving the team, nothing has been set in stone.

Iggy Azalea and Nick Young announced their engagement in June of last year, but were recently rumored to have already been married privately.

Roach Calls Atlas “Full of Sh*t” and Pacquiao Anti Gay Controversy Out of Context

In the lead up to the third fight between professional boxers Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38KOs) and Timothy Bradley (33-1-1, 13KOs) in what has been labelled by Pacquiao as his last professional boxing fight ever, AHH journalist Kylie Krabbe was able to talk up close and personal with Pacquiao’s longtime trainer Freddie Roach during last week’s media workout at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles, California.

While this particular Los Angeles media workout was not as packed to the gills with reporters as it was during the epic media blitz preceding Pacquiao’s fight against the now retired Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (49-0, 26KOs), the turnout was still impressive with media outlets from around the world jockeying to get statements from hall of fame coach Freddie Roach as well as iconic fighter Manny Pacquiao.

With many new subjects up for grabs, such as Roach’s opinion of Bradley’s new trainer Teddy Atlas in the wake of Bradley’s split from longtime coach Joel Diaz, and Pacquiao’s recent image problems due to anti-gay statements attributed to him during his political campaigning in the Philippines that lost Pacquiao his lucrative and longtime endorsement deal with American multinational corporation NIKE, Freddie Roach was in rare candid form in talking to our correspondent as can be seen here:

Does Snoop Dogg Have His Eye On This Real Housewives Reality Star?

Last year it seems that Snoop Dogg’s wife, Shante Broadus, may have hinted at trouble in the couple’s marriage. Either the two worked out the rough patch, or Snoop wanted to present them as a united front to the public, as he posted several Instagram posts showing his love for Shante. One post even had the caption,

“26 years and still going.”

Now, Page Six reports that Snoop Dogg is interested in dating ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Brandi Glanville. Apparently the two met while appearing on an episode of ‘Kocktails With Khloe.’ Page Six says Snoop wants to date Brandi, but she won’t take him up on his offer until he makes his divorce with his wife final. Say it ain’t so! Nah we want to see Snoop and Shante work things out!

Lil’ Kim Denies Involvement In All-Female Rap Event With Foxy Brown & Remy Ma

Well if you thought you would see an all-female rap event featuring Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, and Remy Ma anytime soon, think again! Lil’ Kim got wind of an article and a rumor going around that she would be co-headlining an all female rap weekend performance for DC pride weekend. Not only did the Queen Bee let her fans know that this simply wasn’t the case, she even went as far as to say,

“I will definitely NOT be doing this.”

Dang Kim; it’s like that? This could’ve been a nice little idea for a tour. They still must have a little more patching up to do.

Diddy Shuts Down Talk Of Having Tupac Killed

Diddy made headlines earlier this year when Netflix announced a documentary alleging that he paid $1 million to have Tupac Shakur killed. Diddy was said to have hired a killer to shoot Tupac Shakur in a drive-by in 1996. In the documentary there have been claims that Diddy hired Crips gang member Duane Keith ‘Keffe D’ Davis to kill Shakur and his manager Marion Hugh ‘Suge’ Knight for $1 million. There have been claims that the rap mogul plans to sue the company over the allegations in the documentary with a defamation suit. Diddy says he had nothing to do with the death of Tupac. Puff recently stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about his latest endeavors. Charlamagne began to ask Diddy about the documentary and Diddy politely shut the question down saying,

“We don’t talk about things that are nonsense. We don’t even entertain nonsense my brother, but I appreciate you as a journalist asking.”

The Breakfast Club said that’s all other guests have to do as they have a job to do with asking the tough questions during interviews. Charlamagne stated that they never believed that the rumors of the documentary were true. Diddy seemed aggravated by the question, but who wouldn’t be annoyed with years of accusations of allegedly paying to have Pac killed? What are your thoughts?

Photo via Drake’s Instagram

Drake already revealed that his ‘Views From The 6’ album would be coming out in April, but it may be coming out any day now with hint after hint and leak after leak. Sources have also claimed that with Drake being from the 416 that he may be looking to do a surprise release on April 16th, making it a 4/16 release date in homage to his beloved city. We also have to acknowledge the fact that in the first week of April alone, four new tracks with Drake have surfaced online, including a song featuring PartyNextDoor called “Tell Me” and another with Pimp C called “Faithful.” Are you ready for Drake’s new album?

Haitian Fresh Wants To Fight Rick Ross?

I do not know Creole, but if Haitian Fresh had a problem with me, I would find out. Apparently, Haitian Fresh – the legendary OG – has issues with Rozay and his buddy DJ Khaled! I would not want these issues, quite frankly! It seems like Haitian Fresh has a million if Ross will fight him one-on-one.

EXCLUSIVE: Malachiae Warren Discusses His New Project ‘Heard U Was In My City’

(AllHipHop Features) Last summer Malachiae Warren arrived on the R&B landscape with his Hip Hop influenced The Ride Out EP. Eight months later, Malachiae has returned with a new collection titled Heard U Was In My City

[ALSO READ: #ATLRiseUp: Malachiae Warren’s “Ghetto Smooth” Sound Is Merging Atlanta’s Hip Hop & R&B Traditions]

Heard U Was In My City is a special project to me simply because it’s the first body of work I’ve officially released on a major. The EP’s theme and title track is a real situation that I had with an ex-girlfriend of mine. I heard she was in my city, but she didn’t bother to hit me up,” Malachiae tells AllHipHop.com. “Of course my mind started racing, thinking that she was with another guy and not tripping on me anymore. It started to make me have second thoughts about how I treated her. I guess it’s art imitating life.”

Last year, Malachiae released his first official single, the Migos-assisted “Thank Yo Momma.” The Atlanta raised singer-songwriter calls the creative process for the song a learning experience, and the crooner believes he has matured a lot since writing the record back in 2013.

“I think that’s the main difference between ‘Thank Yo Momma’ and the songs on this project – growth and maturity. I’m in a different space, especially on records like ‘Minute Made’ and ‘Lie to Me,’” says Warren. “Those songs have a bit more edge and substance. I feel like I have a platform to really be myself and speak about the things I really want to speak about.”

Malachiae began taking music seriously around the age of 11. He eventually signed with the iconic Motown recording label and began building a fan base that currently includes a combined 233,000 followers on Twitter and Instagram.

“My fans are truly great and inspiring to me. For me to be so new at this and have fans that will drive hours to see me and wait hours to get a picture is crazy to me,” expresses the #ATLRiseUp alum. “All I can do is try to accommodate them and thank them every chance I get, because they have a choice of who they are going to support, and they have chosen to support me. That’s love.”

With The Ride Out EP and Heard U Was In My City already under his belt, Malachiae is looking to continue adding sultry cuts to his catalog. The goal is to eventually see his name among the top talent in the industry.

“Last year was my introduction, so this year I really want to cement myself in this game. I know that comes with hard work and great music. I’m prepared to deliver both,” Malachiae states. “I’m looking forward to touring this year, so I can see my fans face-to-face, and I’m working on my album, but there is no rush. Timing is everything, so I’m just gonna keep pushing and keep grinding.”

Big Sean & Jhené Aiko’s ‘Twenty88’ Closing In On #1 Spot On Album Chart

(AllHipHop News) Big Sean is close to earning his second #1 album, and Jhené Aiko is looking to grab her first chart leader. According to HitsDailyDouble, the duo’s Twenty88 is competing for the top spot on next week’s album tally.

[ALSO READ: Big Sean & Jhené Aiko Discuss Their Joint Project ‘Twenty88’]

At the moment Twenty88 is predicted to sell between 35,000 – 40,000 copies with a total around 40,000 – 45,000 including sales plus streaming. Those numbers are putting Sean and Aiko in a close race with Lukas Graham’s self-titled LP (30,000 – 35,000; 50,000 – 55,000 SPS). The result could be Lukas Graham taking the Billboard 200 album chart while Twenty88 could reach #1 on the Top Album Sales chart.

Sean previously scored a #1 album with 2015’s Dark Sky Paradise. Aiko’s highest placement on the 200 chart came with her debut LP Souled Out opening at #3 in 2014. If Twenty88 is able to claim the pinnacle of album releases in America, the project will join Future’s Evol and Kendrick Lamar’s untitled unmastered as the only Hip Hop albums to land at #1 in 2016 so far.

“I believe with all my heart that my brother and I could do music together. I believe that we could really impact Hip Hop in a very profound way,” said No Malice. “I believe the gift that God has given us could touch a lot of people. As a duo it would just be doubly strong.”

No Malice then added he would not shut the door on doing more tracks with Pusha, but he also expressed that whatever music Clipse makes in the future would “come from God.” The brothers did collaborate on the 2013 song “Shame The Devil” off No Malice’s Hear Ye Him.

Businessman Don Peebles Says Jay Z Fits White America’s Code Of A Black Man (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z, the drug dealer turned rapper turned businessman, has been both praised and criticized for his ascent to the 1%. Famed real estate developer R. Donahue “Don” Peebles spoke with Nitecap with Peter Bailey about mainstream America’s perception of Jay. The discussion centered around the idea of black youth feeling the need to come from struggle or a life of crime to become successful.

[ALSO READ: Puff Daddy Talks Wanting To Go Into Business With Jay Z & Hip Hop Creating Economic Power (VIDEO)]

Peebles stated:

That is how American society is comfortable defining black men. Unfortunately, we perpetuate it, because we as a community will hold them up as role models. We will buy into that. It’s a safe example for white America to see black men doing this as opposed to running a business like I am or being Robert Smith of Vista.

That’s different. That doesn’t fit the box. Jay Z fits the box, and he fits the code. Think about: Did Mick Jagger have that kind of influence over Richard Nixon or Ronald Reagan? Did Frank Sinatra become the spokesperson for the Reagans?

Entertainment is a business, but the entertainers are not those that are setting policy or are role models held up for their kids. Very few white parents want their kids to grow up and be Justin Bieber or Britney Spears. They’re not saying put all your eggs into being Britney Spears. They’re saying put all your eggs into getting an education and that the American Dream is fully accessible to you.

As the founder, chairman and CEO of the Peebles Corporation, Peebles runs the largest African American-owned real estate development and ownership company in the United States. The 56-year-old entrepreneur has also been very active in Democratic politics, and he is an author of two books.
