Music Executives Think Jay Z’s Tidal Will Fail In Less Than A Year

(AllHipHop News) Despite numerous exclusives from artists like Beyoncé, Lil Wayne, Prince, and Madonna, the Tidal streaming service has been off to a rough start. The initial roll out of the Jay Z led platform faced criticism for coming off as elitist, and the $20 price for the premium option was viewed as too expensive.

All of this has led to many insiders wondering how long Tidal will be able to compete against Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services. Billboard conducted a survey of over 50 top executives in the music business, and an overwhelming number of the brass believe Tidal will be dead by August 2016.

The survey also included respondents saying they believe Apple’s Jimmy Iovine is the most talented executive in the business. Rap music was also named the most despised genre, and a majority feel the industry is unfair to artists.

Another recent survey showed consumers are not responding to the new Apple Music service. Research company MusicWatch surveyed 5,000 Apple users. Forty-eight percent of those questioned no longer use Apple Music and sixty-one percent turned off the auto-renewal option.

Chief Keef’s lawyers claim Lauren isn’t being truthful, and believes that Keef is a target for women looking to come up.

Miley Cyrus Weighs In On Nicki Minaj’s VMA Criticism, Says Nicki Is “Not Too Kind”

(AllHipHop News) Miley Cyrus is hosting the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Nicki Minaj is scheduled to perform at the showcase. Things could get awkward that night between the two superstars after Miley offered her thoughts on Nicki’s critical tweets against MTV’s nomination process.

Back in July, Minaj questioned why her video for “Anaconda” was not nominated for Video Of The Year. She wrote, “When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get the nomination.”

Taylor Swift responded to the Young Money rapper which led to a highly publicized social media exchange. The women eventually settled their issues in private.

Cyrus was asked about Nicki’s comments during an interview with the New York Times. The VOTY VMA winner for “Wrecking Ball” felt Minaj made the situation about herself and not a greater racial cause. She even referred to the Queens native as not being a nice person.

Miley said:

You know what I always say? Not that this is jealousy, but jealousy does the opposite of what you want it to — that’s a yoga mantra. People forget that the choices that they make and how they treat people in life affect you in a really big way. If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it.

She continued:

If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: “This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type.

What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love. You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war. It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about. Now you’ve just given E! News “Catfight! Taylor and Nicki Go at It.”

I know you can make it seem like, Oh I just don’t understand because I’m a white pop star. I know the statistics. I know what’s going on in the world. But to be honest, I don’t think MTV did that on purpose.

Chris Brown’s Baby Mama’s Boyfriend Is The Real Criminal!

Photo via Chris Brown’s Instagram

Well this is interesting. It just got real in the battle between Chris Brown and his baby mama Nia Guzman. Guzman has been asking for $15,000 a month in child support, and she has also said she doesn’t feel safe having their daughter around “criminal” Chris Brown and the company he keeps. It seems like the true criminal is her boyfriend King Ba. Images of King Ba were recently shown on a Houston news program as a man wanted for forging checks. It’s hard out here apparently. Breezy pointed out the irony and said God doesn’t like ugly. Nia also claims she’s single now, yet she was just on vacation with King Ba. Hmmmm.

“I never made one dollar off Chinx Drugs as an artist. All I did with Chinx was me just helping him out, because I wanted to see my brother become as big as he can,” explained French. “At his peak this happened to him. That’s what I’m most hurt about. I want him to see how much people love him.”

The discussion also included French addressing his “beef” with 50 Cent. The two New Yorkers have been sending shots back-and-forth for years. French and 50’s most recent exchange was over Puff Daddy’s Ciroc vodka versus Fif’s Effen vodka.

“Did you ever see somebody in the club with an Effen vodka bottle?” asked French. “I feel like 50 is a marketing genius. He took it away from making music to selling vodka. He’s doing the same technique [as Puffy]. We’re just having fun with it.”

French would not directly say if he would ever collaborate with 50 on a record. He answered by suggesting his friendly rival is no longer focused on making music.

The Bronx representative also talked about working with Young Chop, Harry Fraud, and other producers on his next project. He addressed the Meek Mill/Drake battle, co-writing in Hip Hop, and Bruce Jenner changing to Caitlyn as well.

Scarface: I Don’t Like The Geto Boys Or None Of Those Albums

(AllHipHop News) The ill-fated 2015 Geto Boys reunion was not what many fans hoped it would be. The legendary group talked about reforming for another album, but Scarface has made it clear he no longer wants to join Bushwick Bill and Willie D for new music.

In an interview with Noisey, Face took that sentiment even further. The Deeply Rooted album creator expressed his disdain for previous GB projects like The Geto BoysWe Can’t Be Stopped, and Till Death Do Us Part.

“I don’t like the Geto Boys at all. I don’t like none of the albums, I don’t like none of the songs,” stated Scarface. “I’m done with that group, and I’m never going to be a part of it again. It’s just a part of my life that I want to forget. The Geto Boys and I can’t get no more money together. None. No more money.”

According to Scarface, chemistry among the trio was not the problem. It was other things associated with the crew that has led him to being done with the Geto Boys. The Texas native revealed he regretted making The Foundation and called Da Good Da Bad & Da Ugly a “f*cking trash album.”

“That was a time when Master P was taking over the airways, so J Prince wanted to Master P the game,” explained Face about the making of Da Good Da Bad. “I was like ‘wow like we f*cked up so bad trying to do Master P when we should’ve just continued to do us.’ I feel like that was the fall of Rap-A-Lot Records to me.”

Scarface did not hold back on his solo material either. He stated his dislike for The World is Yours, The Last of a Dying Breed, Balls and My Word, and My Homies Part 2. Face also referred to Made as his best lyrical work, The Diary as his Dark Side Of The Moon, and The Fix as his favorite.
