Kobe Bryant Responds To Jim Brown’s Criticism

(AllHipHop News)  If you have known about Kobe Bean Bryant for more than a day you should have already predicted that he would respond to Jim Brown’s disparaging remarks about the NBA legend’s understanding of culture and leadership. Speaking with the media following a practice last week Thursday (December 12th), Kobe Bryant countered Jim Brown’s criticism.

While on The Arsenio Hall Show Brown chided Kobe for his treatment of  former teammates and attributed Kobe’s seven years spent in Italy between the ages of six and 13 as reasons for his inability to understand how to “quite fit what’s happening in America.” According to Kobe, he was shocked by the comments but places a positive spin on the incident.

I mean, I’ve never even met him, so it came out of left field but I do think it’s a great opportunity to have these conversations, to have this discussion.

While Kobe admits that these type of incidents is “a good place to start to have a good conversation” about “perception of racial quality” he does believe Brown may be too old to reason with:

He and I, there’s no reason for us to have a conversation. We’re completely on opposite sides of the spectrum. I’m an old dog, but he’s a much older dog so he’s probably a lot more set in his ways than I am.

In 1967, Brown organized a summit in support of Muhammed Ali’s stance on anti-war stance and invited such Black athletes as Bill Russel, Kareem Abdul-Jabar and many others. Brown stated if he “had to call that summit all over, there’d be some athletes I wouldn’t call. Kobe would be one of them.” Kobe directly addressed this statement on his personal Twitter account prior to addressing the media:

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Kanye West Getting on Kris Jenner’s Nerves?

Sounds like all isn’t peace and harmony between Kanye West and Kris Jenner. In Touch is saying that the Queen Bee of the Kardashian Klan is getting fed up with Kanye’s megalomaniac antics. If you recall, lately he’s been ranting a lot more than usual and even compared himself to Steve Jobs.

“The recent bragging, name calling and calls for attention are making her brand look bad, and she doesn’t want anything to hurt her empire,” an insider told In Touch.  “She thinks he is pushing the envelope a bit too far when he brings up religion and is always picking a fight.”

Welp, Kris doesn’t play when it comes to her family’s brand. Sounds like she wants Kanye to get down or lay down. Two megalomaniacs fighting for power in the same space means trouble. Hopefully she knows who she’s in for a battle if she thinks Ye’s just gonna fall in line.

“Pretty Hurts” Video Director: My Crew Quit On Beyonce And Harvey Keitel

(AllHipHop News) Let Beyonce’s song “Pretty Hurts” be a lesson: the most immaculate things on the surface could have disastrous inner workings. In an interview with Vulture, the director of Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” video says it was the “slowest shoot I’ve ever been on” and accuses the film crew of quitting on the video.

At the 4:11 mark in Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” video she is briefly shown diving into a large body of water. According to video director Melina Matsoukas, the scene was meant to be longer and more integral to the video but ended up truncated due to her crew’s lack of support:

I originally wrote it was that she was stepping onstage and would fall, and it’d cut to her going into this water and drowning. But we didn’t get to shoot the trip, because the crew decided to quit on me because it was taking forever. But I felt like it was a good moment to break down the song and be in this really vulnerable, thought-provoking moment.

Matsoukas attributed the crew’s unwillingness to continue to New York City union rules and stated this does not occur in Los Angeles “because people actually care.” The director did admit that the shoot was long even resulted in high-profile guest actor Harvey Keitel waiting up to twenty hours to shoot.

Matsoukas has worked with Beyonce in the past on her music video for “Upgrade U”. She spoke on the pre-marriage relationship of Beyonce and Jay Z briefly:

When I worked with them they weren’t married yet. Now — I don’t know. I mean, they support each other — they’re best friends. They influence each other and they push each other to be better and to impress each other, too. I love them.

Exclusive Hip-Hop Rumors: How Did Beyonce Do It? Illseed Found Out!

So, this Beyonce thing had me confused. My “team” (aka me) and I were wondering how this top secret album managed to get past us without so much as a peep. Obviously, we knew Beyonce was working on music, but this drop just caught us off guard – as it did with the rest of the world. So, this is one of the few times we’ve done some outreach on the rumors side. So…here is what we determined.

First of all, there was a lot of talk that Beyonce dropped this album in this manner because her label was NOT in support of it. There were rumors that because of a couple dud songs like “Bow Down” they didn’t have faith in her. Well, that’s not true at all. The label was all kinds of behind this effort and they orchestrated it flawlessly. My sources tell me they have been plotting this move since late Spring or early Summer.

Everybody associated with the new Beyonce album had to sign an ironclad non-disclosure. I bet they had to give up their firstborn if they violated the agreement. Obviously there were only a few (a relative few) people that knew about what was going on. Now, here is what I find interesting. I was told that the iTunes part of it created a particular situation for Team Beyonce. This is where leaks happen. I heard that there is considerable time to get songs and albums in iTunes. Remember, Beyonce has 14 new songs and 17 new videos. That’s a lot of encoding and whatever other logistics they have to go through.

How did they hide it from the leaks ad cracks in iTunes? I was told that Beyonce’s album was listed as “The Secret” even on the inside of iTunes. I would think that would still create some sort of leak, based only on curiosity alone. But it didn’t or they kept it to themselves to avoid a public hanging or whatever the punishment would be. On top of it all, my sources say iTunes got everything associated with the album WEDNESDAY of last week! Remember, they announced the album THURSDAY. Crazy!

This is what I have right now. Gotta give credit where its due.

Beyoncé’s New Album Predicted To Sell Over 550,000 Copies

(AllHipHop News) Without any promotion, radio singles, or media coverage Beyoncé’s new self-titled album is about to have one of the best opening sales week of 2013. Billboard reports that BEYONCÉ is headed to first week numbers over 550,000 units. That total will be enough to give the singer her 5th solo number 1 album.

Industry sources say the iTunes exclusive project could reach up to 600,000 copies when the final numbers come out. The fact that Beyoncé may have the highest first week sales of her career with this project is even more impressive because she only had three days to do it. The surprise album was released on a Friday as opposed to the traditional Tuesday drop day.

A 550,000 opening week for Beyoncé would top other big debuts this year by One Direction (546,000), Luke Bryan (528,000), Kanye West (327,000), Daft Punk (339,000) and her husband Jay Z (528,000).

Louis Farrakhan Tells Kanye West Not To Bow To Jewish Pressure

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this month the Jewish Anti-Defamation League released a statement asking Kanye West to apologize for comments he made during an interview with The Breakfast Club.

During the discussion, Kanye said, “Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people.” ADL’s National Director Abraham H. Foxman called the comments “classic anti-semitism” and said they reinforced the stereotype that Jews are “all-powerful and control the levers of power in government.”

While some in the Jewish community were offended by Kanye’s quote, Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam has defended the rapper and his comments. According to Farrakhan, Kanye should not apologize because nothing that he said was untrue.

“Did he lie? No, he told the truth,” says Farrakhan in a video address.

He goes on to add:

You know what Mr. Foxman? I wish you and I could have a dialogue. You wouldn’t put that small time stuff over on me that you put on scared to death negroes, that if they mention Jew and you call them anti-semitic they start bowing to you and your pressure. Kanye West don’t bow to the pressure to apologize to anybody. You said nothing wrong.

Farrakhan and the NOI is preparing for their annual Saviours’ Day convention. The 2014 edition will be held February 21-23 at Detroit, Michigan’s Cobo Center.

YG, Nipsey Hussle, Ty Dolla $ign & Skeme Want You To Respect The West

On a cold Wednesday night out on the off-skirts of Downtown Los Angeles, the Cashmere Agency group and Adidas put together a showcase of West Coast talent for tastemakers and fans called “Respect the West.” Hosted by the beautiful Rikki Martinez of Power 106 FM, Respect the West brought out some of L.A.’s top rising Hip-Hop talent and spotlighted the new Mutombo sneaker by Adidas.

As the warehouse filled with arriving guests, DJ Mustard (one of the hottest producers in the game right now) kicked the night off with his popular self-produced jams and threw in some of his favorite classic club jams for good measure to get the party started right. Inglewood native Skeme (who’s Ingleworld album drops on December 17) was the first artist to hit the stage and after a few dope cuts, blasted the spot with his DJ Mustard produced club anthem “T.O.” Ty Dolla $ign (who we just featured) was next and encountered some microphone trouble which limited his first song. After a mic trade, Ty was good to go for his next few songs and finished things off with his popular radio banger, “Paranoid.” At this point, two drunk females right next to me began to scream and fight with each other over God knows what. Just as blows were about to get thrown and I began telling myself that I’m too old for this sh*t, we were informed that a special guest was in the house and ready to take the stage. Houston’s Riff Raff came out to a great surprise even though this was a West Coast showcase. After one song, Riff Raff then gave way to the highly anticipated Nipsey Hussle, fresh off the release of his $100 Crenshaw mixtape. Nipsey’s number one fan must have been right behind me because this dude was eagerly shouting in my ear for a performance of “Hussle in the House” and eventually got his wish as Nipsey capped things off with the Kriss Kross sampled jam. YG, set to release his Young Jeezy executive produced album on March 18, finished the showcase off led by a performance of “Toot It and Boot It” with Ty Dolla $ign and his current DJ Mustard radio hit, “My N*ggas.” All in all, it was a fun night of entertainment by young West Coast stars in the making ready to make their impact on the World. I myself am looking forward to Skeme’s album next week. Whether or not you respect the West, these young artists and plenty of others are making a great case for it. Hip-Hop Rumors: Migos Go At Chief Keef!

Chief Keef and Migos. It may be the pointless beef of the year. But, this is 2013 and this is what it is. Apparently…these guys are beefing. Remember, Chief Keef said something on twitter and then Migos said something back on Twitter. Now, Migos have a new song where they claim not to be sneak dissing, but its reallllllllllly reeks of sneak dissing. Their new song, “Jealousy,” doesn’t name check Keef by name but it definitely infers him. And in a new interview with MTV, its pretty clear.

MTV reports:

It all became public on December 5 when Keef sent out a tweet that read, “Heard Migos sneak dissin No Talkin.” Migos member Offset responded with a now-deleted tweet that read “Will b in Chiraq Next Week Pull Up @ChiefKeef.”The ATL group responsible for 2013 rap favorites like “Versace” and “Hannah Montana” sparked tons of speculation when they dropped “Jealously” this week, with lyrics including, “Ain’t never did a sneak diss/ ‘Cause my hitman quick to put you on that hit list.””Honestly, it caught us by surprise,” Offset said of Keef’s original tweet.Migos mostly downplayed any notion of beef, echoing the song’s hook and refusing to get into a subliminal back and forth. “You know, people gonna take it however they gonna take it and put it however they wanna put it,” Takeoff added. “If you listen to the song, it’s self-explanatory. If [I’mma] do one, [I’mma] say ya name to keep it 100. Ain’t no need for me to be sneak-dissin’.””We don’t do no sneak-dissin’,” Quavo concluded. “We make music, we get money.”

Well…I don’t know if this matters, but lets chalk it up to Friday the 13th!

Hip-Hop Rumors: Khloe Kardashian to Divorce Lamar Odom?

We’ve been going back and forth about this in the media for months, so there’s no telling if this report is legit this time. Radar Online is saying that Khloe Kardashian is expected to file divorce papers as early as Friday.

Khloe allegedly gave up on salvaging the turbulent relationship after a  video of Odom surfaced last month, with the NBA free agent rapping in reference to his alleged philandering, “When Khloe’s out of town/ I guess I still be on the DL.”

Kardashian wasn’t seen wearing her wedding ring following the release of the clip, and the final straw was said to be Odom’s refusal to enter rehab after the embarrassing incident.

Via Radar Online:

“Surprisingly, Khloe wasn’t upset about the cheating confession, but the video which proved to her that Lamar is continually abusing drugs and alcohol. He was obviously wasted when the video was recorded,” a source told Radar. “After she saw the video, Khloe demanded Lamar go to rehab… but he refused. Lamar admitted being under the influence when the video was shot, but insisted to his wife that he was once again sober.

And let’s not forget that multiple women have claimed to have had extramarital affairs with Lamar. This is way too much drama for a four-year marriage.

WTF News: Doctors Find 40-Year-Old Fetus in Elderly Woman’s Womb

An 82-year-old Colombian woman went to the hospital with stomach pains on Monday and got a gruesome surprise, according to Fox. It turns out that her discomfort was caused by a calcified fetus that she had been carrying for the past 40 years.

Bogota’s Tunjuelito Hospital originally thought the woman was suffering from gastro-enteritis, a form of severe diarrhea but when an ultrasound came back negative for the disease, doctors ordered an abdominal X-ray discovered the fetus.

The woman’s condition is a rare medical phenomenon known as lithopedion wherea fetus develops and dies outside of the uterus in the abdominal cavity. If development stops and the fetus is too large to be absorbed by the body, it calcifies to protect the mother from dead tissue.

The woman was transferred to another hospital where she will undergo surgery to remove the fetus.
