WTF News: Glow-in-the-Dark Pigs Created Using Jelly Fish Genes

Scientists in China created 10 piglets that glow green under black fluorescent lights, using a technique developed by the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Medicine.

Via Huffington Post:

A group of scientists from South China Agricultural University were able to do this by injecting fluorescent protein from jellyfish DNA into pig embryos, thus creating the green-glowing pigs.

This same technique was used to create the world’s first glow-in-the-dark bunnies in Turkey earlier this year, where they are currently working to produce similar results with fluorescent-glowing sheep.

Scientists, however, are not creating glowing farm animals for seasonal décor. The goal of the research is to have an efficient and cheap way of getting a beneficial gene into humans that could help treat many genetic disorders.

Dr. Stefan Moisyadi, a UH Manoa bioscientist with the Institute for Biological Research, says, for example, that this technique could benefit people who suffer with the rare blood-clotting disease hemophilia. “We can make [blood-clotting] enzymes a lot cheaper in animals rather than a factory that will cost millions of dollars to build,” Moisyadi said in a press release.

Master P Uses Proceeds From 'The Gift' Album To Buy Christmas Presents For Underprivileged Kids

Master P aka Percy Miller, No Limit Forever Records CEO, loaded up his tour
bus on Christmas Eve with Bicycles, Xbox Ones, Games, and Toys to brighten up Christmas for underprivileged kids that lost their parents due to senseless violent crimes.

Master P’s The Gift Album is one of the hottest records on the street but instead of celebrating his success, he spends his proceeds from The Gift Album project to help inner city at-risk youth. Master P stated, “Hopefully, I can be like a guardian angel to these kids during this tough time as they celebrate Christmas without their parents. These kids are special, our mission is to uplift and encourage them even though they’ve been scarred by these tragedies. If we can help them learn how to smile again, have hope and overcome their adversities with time, their wounds will eventually heal. Our goal is to help Let The Kids Grow. Christmas is a time of celebrating Jesus’s birthday with family, love and joy. Although these kids have lost their parents, we want them to know that there are still people who care and love them.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Scott Disick Headed For Rehab?

Kourtney Kardashian has allegedly had enough of Scott Disick’s drunken mischief and wants him to go to rehab.

Radar Online reports that a recent incident where he made drunken spectacle of himself at a Kanye West concert was the last straw. Kourtney is now begging him to go back to rehab or to at least attend AA meetings.

The pair allegedly plan to get married next year but Kourtney refuses to move forward with him unless he handles his addiction. Kourtney is also concerned about Mason, her 4-year-old son, and Penelope, her 18-month-old daughter, because she doesn’t want them to be traumatized by having a drunk dad.

Audio Push Says T.I. "Sh*tted On Us" Before We Collaborated (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) In the music industry, you have to earn your stripes before you are allowed such privileges. While appearing on Cipha Sounds’ Take It Personal Hip Hop improv show last Friday (December 20th), the west coast duo Audio Push spoke on how the privilege of collaborating with a legendary rapper almost escaped them.

On their 2013 mixtape Come As You Are, Audio Push collaborated with T.I. on the Hit-Boy produced song “Theme Song”. According to the duo, T.I. “sh*tted” on their request to collaborate at first until he heard the beat and proceeded to freestyle his verse on the song. The UCB improvisers took T.I.’s lack of writing and demonstrated what would happen if he applied that to other real life situations.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Kenya Moore is Looking For Sperm

When viewers first started watching Kenya Moore on Real Housewives of Atlanta, she presented herself as a marriage and baby hungry maniac. That plan didn’t work out so well so, she seemingly ditched her dreams of marital bliss with then alleged boyfriend Walter and went on to terrorize the rest of the cast with her wacky behavior.

Fastforward to today, she’s back on the show and still not mentioning her dreams of having a family but word is, she’s hasn’t given up hope. She can’t control the husband factor (assuming there’s no good bribe involved) but she is planning to get artificially insemenated. She recently told Life & Style that she plans to do in vitro with the hopes of getting pregnant within the next six months. Of course, if this works out she’ll have her baby just in time to be filmed for the next season of RHOA.

Google Penalizes Rap Genius For Link Schemes

(AllHipHop News) After the lyric website Rap Genius was accused of uses link schemes to get unnatural hits, Google has apparently penalized the site. A link to “rapgenius.com” is no longer available on the first page for a Google search of “rap genius.”

Rap Genius was recently exposed as using an “affiliate program” to garnered traffic to the site. The “growth hacking” plan offered bloggers a tweet mentioning their post in exchange for back links to Rap Genius. This would help Rap Genius increase their Google search engine ranking position which is a violation of Google’s linking policy.

The founders of Rap Genius did issue a statement on the matter. Writing in part:

We’re going to be requesting that site owners take down links to Rap Genius that don’t fit well with their editorial content. Going forward, we do believe a track list widget that bloggers can embed has value, but we’ll develop one in JS rather than HTML.

Rap Genius is the product of many passionate communities collaborating to create a massive, living knowledge base for the world to enjoy. We do not want to break Google’s rules, and will do whatever it takes to learn them inside out and comply with them. Thank you very much!

Earlier this year Rap Genius was sent a take down notice by the National Music Publishers Association for publishing licensed lyrics without permission. RG later announced a licensing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing allowing them to keep up lyrics from Sony/ATV artists.

You do something to me, and I do something back. Then you may press charges on me. That ain’t keeping it ‘G’.”

Yo Gotti also addresses rappers who use “fake beef” for publicity. For him, that’s not a tactic he participates in even though he has been involved in public spats. Gotti was one of the artists Gucci Mane mentioned in his infamous Twitter rant earlier this year. The two southern rappers also had issues over their mixtapes being released around the same time.
