FLICKS/VIDEO: Yeezus Storms NYC’s Governors Ball Festival; Kendrick, Nas And More Perform

“At this point I don’t give a f*ck about selling a million records. I just want to put out an album that you can rock to this summer.” -Kanye West

12 inches of mud, rain and even a tropical storm couldn’t keep the 30,000+ attendees at the 2013 Governors Ball Music Festival away from Randalls Island in New York City this past weekend. Festival-goers from across the globe all converged on the “wetlands” to see talent like Guns N Roses, Nas, Kings Of Leon, Erykah Badu, Kendrick Lamar, Bloc Party and most of all Kanye West perform for fans and music-lovers alike.

Over the course of three days and spread across four stages, the 30+ acts that performed at Governors Ball all had the crowd in a frenzy despite the conditions that were less than stellar, yet everyones spirits stayed high.

West, who headlined the festivals final night, performed 4 tracks from his new album Yeezus, which hits stores next Tuesday (June 18), that included “New Slaves,” the rumored to be Daft Punk-produced record “On Site,” “I Am A God” and the high-energy cut “Black Skinhead” which he opened and closed his set with. In addition to the new material, Yeezy did classics like “All Falls Down,” “Touch the Sky,” “Stronger,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” and even threw in the now-expected Ye rant in towards the end of his set.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Benzino Quits Love And Hip-Hop? Steroids Accusations?

I don’t follow the follies of Benzino too much these days, but I am hearing that the former Source head honcho is quitting the show Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta! Apparently, the windfall behind “Smash The Homie” has turned into a full blown hurricane for the Bostonian.

But, he’s saying that he and Stevie J are THROUGH! In fact, he’s saying that Stevie is jealous that people are loving his new song! Uhhhhhhhh….

Benzino has been posing a lot without a shirt and Stevie J said dude is using ‘roods!

Kanye Asks Fans For Graffiti To Promote “Yeezus”, Gets Rick Rubin To Executive Produce

(AllHipHop News) The quiet ones always hold the most profound secrets. While J. Cole and Mac Miller are holding listening sessions, doing interviews and trying to promote their project, Yeezus promotional push is virtually nonexistent.

To the eye untrained in Yeezy.

After performing a few new songs from the upcoming Yeezus album, posters of Kanye’s clear jewel case album cover with the words “Please Add Graffiti” appear in New York City.

The poster was inspired by “hub of all Yeezus covers” YeezyGraffiti.com which posted the “Please Add Graffiti” image last week. The site was created by  Leighton McDonald.

As you would expect from a man who refers to himself as Yeezus, Kanye has been pulling out all the stops in crafting this masterpiece. With Frank Ocean and Chief Keef already alleged to be on Yeezus the New York Post reports that Kanye has enlisted the help of Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin to executive produce his album at the last minute.

Known for being meticulous with his albums and working until the last possible minute, industry insiders tell the New York Post “even by Kanye West standards, this is pushing it.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: There Are Problems When Ray-J And Rape Are In The Same Headline!

YOOOOOOOOO! I got a crazy rumor today. But, before I go into it, I want to be clear, Ray-J didn’t rape anybody (that I know of). This is not why I am here. BUT, I will say this Ray-J may very well be embroiled in a new controversy dealing with a member of his entourage, who may stand accused of raping somebody. Ray-J may be caught up in this mix. I only have a few details right now, but more are coming down the pipeline. But, from what I have right now is that perhaps Ray may be looking at somebody looking to pull him into the fray to make sure some justice is served. Rape is serious and memories are long. Again, this rumor is not saying Ray raped anybody.

More on this, I promise!

J-Diggs Of Mac Dre’s Thizz Entertainment Arrested On Drug Charges

(AllHipHop News) Jamal Diggs, aka J-Diggs tha Rockstar, was arrested in Utah yesterday for a third degree felony drug warrant issued in Hawaii.

St George News is reporting that Diggs was also charged by Washington County, Utah officials for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

j-diggsDiggs is a part of the late Mac Dre’s Thizz Entertainment. Diggs, Mac Dre, and fellow Thizz partner Kilo Curt were all convicted in 1992 for conspiracy to commit a bank robbery.

Diggs was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Mac Dre received five years, and Curt served eight years.

Mac Dre consistently stated that he was innocent of the charges, and claimed that it was his loose association with the “Romper Room Gang” (a Vallejo, California robbery gang) that led to his conviction.

In September of last year, Diggs was also arrested on assault and attempted murder charges in Hawaii, and reportedly was released on $150,000 bond.

A $30,000 bond has been set for the new felony drug charges.
