FEEL RICH VIDEO: Power 105 Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee On Staying Fit While Crazy Busy

Editor’s Note: “Feel Rich” is our partnership with QD3, the talented son of music legend Quincy Jones. “Feel Rich” is all about creating a healthy lifestyle for Hip-Hop culture – both the artists and the fans. Enjoy!

Angela Yee is a very busy woman who manages to work out and eat well. She shared her tricks for balancing working full-time as a radio personality in New York City for Power 105.1 and prioritizing her health. It may not come easy, but Yee makes it work, and her tricks will help you to do the same.

Here are some tips for getting fit and working it out like Angela Yee:

Stop drinking calories. Drink water, tea (no sugar), coffee (black), and zero-calorie diet drinks. Juice is just sugar water, and sports drinks aren’t necessary unless you’ve just run for over 90 minutes. Alcohol counts, too — drinking a six pack will cover yours up. Save your calories for food. Bonus: The more non-caffeinated fluid you drink, the less fluid you’ll retain — less puff, more buff.

No gas station food. Except for the basket of sad-looking bananas at the register, there’s not much in the gas station that won’t own your attempts to drop weight. Tricky labeling, substandard ingredients, and insane calorie counts add up to fatty, and you are what you eat. Instead, think ahead, and bring healthier, low-calorie snacks with you if you know you’ll be hungry while you’re out. Fruit, raw vegetables, and low-fat cheese are portable and delicious.

Level Up:
Cardio is key. Get at least 30 minutes of continuous heart-pounding activity most days of the week to increase your overall daily calorie burn. Make it something you enjoy, and you’re more likely to stick with it. If you can manage an hour per day, the fat will melt quicker. Bonus: Do your cardio in the morning before breakfast to draw energy straight from fat reserves.

Don’t be a pig. Don’t pile your plate with as much food as it will hold, because you’ll probably finish it whether you really need it or not. Take about half of what you think you want — you can always go back for seconds. Learn to eyeball portion sizes — a serving of pasta is the size of a softball, and a serving of rice is half that. Your steak should be the size of a deck of cards, and cheese should be the size of four dice.

Like a Boss
Call in the science. Use an online calorie calculator to see how many calories you need, and plan out your carb, fat and protein percentages. Planning your diet ahead of time helps you avoid hunger traps that cause bad decisions, and you’ll stick to your diet.

Ramp it up to rip it up. Interval cardio torches fat like no other workout, and takes about half the time. Alternate your pace between “pretty hard” and “really freakin’ hard” every two minutes or so for about 30 minutes total. The slower periods burn calories from fat, while the faster periods burns more overall calories. Bonus: Intense exercise also reduces appetite, so you’ll eat less on top of burning more. Should we schedule a photo shoot now?

VIDEO: Casey Veggies Hits Up Jersey’s Bamboozle Festival; Subtly Announces Three Upcoming Projects For 2012

Fact: Casey Veggies knows how to command a crowd. The kid from California has had one hell of a year and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, which is a point that was made very clear at The 2012 Bamboozle Festival last weekend in New Jersey, when the Inglewood native rocked an energetic yet hypnotic, 30-minute set for a beach full of concert-goers.

Casey spoke to AllHipHop.com about the difference in performing for hometown crowds versus crowds of 40,000 at the New Jersey festival, how the fans have responded to his April-released mixtape, Customized Greatly Vol. 3, and most importantly, what’s to come in the future from the 18-year-old. EXCLUSIVE: Jimmy Henchman’s Son Comments On Father’s Cocaine Trial

(AllHipHop News) The son of James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond recently sat down with AllHipHop.com to discuss his father’s cocaine trial, which is currently taking place in Federal Court in Brooklyn, New York.

Rosemond Jr., who celebrated a birthday over the holiday weekend, remains optimistic and convinced of his father’s innocence.

James Rosemond, Sr., who managed acts like Sean Kingston, Game, Mike Tyson, Akon, and others, is facing a life sentence for allegedly masterminding a $10 million-a-year cocaine operation.

“I am blessed to celebrate another year, but at the same time my heart is heavy,” James “Lil Henchman” Rosemond told AllHipHop.com. “If I had one wish, it would be to have my father free and home with me and my little sisters.”

The elder Rosemond was arrested in June 2011 on cocaine distribution charges, after a 30-day, nationwide manhunt.

“It’s been a year since we have had to hear lie after lie about my dad, but mind you all, I know the truth because I lived with him,” added Lil Hench, who has attended each day of testimony since the trial began on May 14.

Although his father is charged with serious crimes, Lil Henchman said that his dad raised him well and helped him better his life.

“I am who I am today because of my dad. I am enrolled in college because of my dad,” Lil Hench told AllHipHop.com.

“I have experienced different cultures and learned to give back because of my dad. I want to dedicate my birthday today with ‘Free James Rosemond’ and a birthday wish of him returning home to his family. Love you dad, and we are going to fight this fight!”

Testimony continues today (May 29).

Hip-Hop Rumors: Meek Mill Confirms Rihanna Rumors, Says She Let Him “Watch The Throne”

It’s about to get real hot in here! Rumor has it that Chris Brown dropped Meek Mill’s verse off of the track “Don’t Judge Me” from his Fortune CD, because of his alleged extracurricular activities with his ex Rihanna.

Well, Meek Mill pretty much confirmed both rumors via his Twitter the other day, and threw some shade at Breezy at the same time. Check out Meek Mill’s tweet below:

Meek Mill deleted the tweet shortly after it posted, but it seems as if Chris Brown may have seen the confession. Breezy later tweeted “She’s a dream chaser! There are alot of dreamers so she’ll be running forever!”

This is subliminal overload! Rihanna’s done started a Twitter war between these two. Expect a freestyle addressing the matter from one of these two soon.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Mike Tyson Sex Tapes With Who??

PRAY THIS HAS NO TRUTH TO IT!

Now this is strange. So, strange, it is, I am not sure how factual it is. There are a couple variables that come into play here. Basically, rumor has it Mike Tyson has recorded many videos of himself in the bed doing many famous celebrities. The rumor goes he’s got Janet Jackson, pre-marriage Jada Pinkett, Angie Stone, Angela Bassett and even Mary J. Blige. Now, I’m not so sure I believe this, but I got to thinking that it may be true. Mike was a beast back in the day, and I don’t mean in the bad way. I mean in the good way as a ferocious athlete. Then came that rape situation. It has been speculated that after that bid in jail, Iron Mike began to record his romps in the bed as insurance that he didn’t rape the women he knocked down. Only thing, is I’m not sure I can see these ladies doing anything with a post-rape Mike. Well, maybe Mary – lol – just kidding. Anyway, we know Robin Givens KO’d Mike back in the day and I never heard of any other chicks in his life. This may just be a crazy rumor. I don’t think we’ll see “evidence” of the truth anytime soon unless Mike REALLY wants to make some money.

Janet though?

I don’t know about this one!

VIDEO: DJ Pauly D On Working With 50 Cent, Setting Himself Apart and Babysitting For Snooki at the Jersey Shore

Last December, DJ Pauly D officially inked a deal with 50 Cent’s G-Note Records. The record label differed from his well-known G-Unit brand in the sense that G-Note artists came from all genres, including R&B, Dance, Pop, and more.

Not long after the ink dried, Pauly and 50 revealed another part of their “plan,” which was to have the DJ, most famously known for the reality show “Jersey Shore,” release his own line of custom SMS Audio headphones. Fast forward a few months, and Pauly D has dropped two singles, wrapped and aired the first season of his solo reality show, “The Pauly D Project,” and landed residencies as DJ at both The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and Harrah’s Pool in Atlantic City, NJ, all while working on his debut album for 50 Cent and G-Note.

Pauly D spoke briefly to AllHipHop.com as he hit the Jersey Shore once again last weekend to perform for a full house of rabid fans at The Bamboozle 2012 Festival. Pauly talked about the G-Note deal with 50 Cent, who will also appear on the DJ’s debut album, what sets him apart, and more. Check out our exclusive interview with DJ Pauly D below:

Mixtape Review: 50 Cent’s “The Lost Tape”

Rating: 7.5 / 10

It’s not like 50 Cent’s been silent lately; he’s been making music and remaining relevant in several different aspects, whether it’s slick-talking his way into news headlines, partnering up with champion boxers, or verbally abusing anyone who rubs him the wrong way on Twitter (label included). Yet for some reason, when he dropped his previous project (The Big 10), although according to normal standards it did well, it was still nowhere near the level of buzz and appreciation 50’s used to getting for his stellar album releases.

It’s with that said that 50 Cent decides to get back to his roots; the aggressive side of his demeanor that made him notable to begin with. At times he’s a contradiction and other times he’s an enigma of sorts, but he’s never NOT entertaining. The issue for most has been seeing if he can maintain that charisma for an album like he’s done in the past. If you let 50 tell it, he’s sure he can.

His label, more or less, doesn’t seem to be so certain from their actions.

So 50’s taking matters into his own hands by partnering with one of the undisputed kings of the mixtape circuit. DJ Drama has linked to try and spark something special with 50, and The Lost Tape is the gritty result. It’s not perfect by any means, and it’s not even one of the best tapes to be released this year, but it serves its purpose of reminding us why we initially loved/hated 50 Cent in the first place.

From the moment “Get Busy” drops, 50 stakes his claim again with all original music (excluding the “Riot Remix” that has him and 2 Chainz trading bars within each verse), and most of them work (excluding the cheesy hook and production for “Swag Level”). It’s the same 50 Cent that we’ve grown accustomed to musically, and that’s not a bad thing. The in-your-face vibe of “Murder One” and “You A Killer? Cool” help to back that statement, alongside the radio-esque sounds from “I Ain’t Gonna Lie” (feat. Robbie Nova) and “Planet 50” (with Jeremih), and it all works somehow.

Curtis also uses his platform to show off his newest additions to G-Unit as well; Kidd Kidd and Precious Paris all come through and improve their stock in the ears of the listeners (most notably Kidd Kidd; Paris proved she was nice with her latest mixtape From Paris With Love). The features are also slick, but still pale in comparison to the man of the hour. Even on smooth, radio ready joints like “I Ain’t Gonna Lie”, 50’s patented trash-talk outshines the vocals on the hook and makes the song memorable, but familiar all the while.

And that may be the problem for most people that hear the tape. Yes, 50 drops some quotable lines and proves that he can still make music, but it doesn’t sound too different from music he’s done in the past. If you rock with 50, this will reinforce your support, but if you’re wanting that special “something” like we got when we first heard Get Rich Or Die Trying (or for some, his unreleased/scrapped and heavily bootlegged Columbia Records LP Power of the Dollar), then maybe that’s coming in July when he supposedly drops his album. For now, it’s a great statement to listeners and artists alike that 50’s not playing when it comes to music. Let’s just hope The Lost Tape isn’t the last highlight he provides.
