Rapper C-Murder has pleaded no contest to attempted murder charges. The rapper, whose real name is Corey Miller, plead out to two counts of attempted second-degree murder will be sentenced to 10 years in prison in a deal with the state at the recommendation of the prosecutor. Miller will also receive credit for time served in jail since August 2001. Miller’s trial began today and the 38-year-old rapper was accused of trying to shoot the owner of Club Raggs, a venue in Baton Rouge, and a bouncer at Plank Road nightclub in August 2001. A no-contest plea is nearly the same as a guilty plea in criminal court, but does not mean an individual has admitted to guilt in a civil court case. video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

Chris Brown Breaks Silence On Rihanna Incident

For nearly three months, R&B singer Chris Brown has been keeping a very low profile, keeping public appearances and performances to a minimum.

On Tuesday night (May 26), Brown, who celebrated his 20th birthday earlier this month, made direct contact with his fans globally for the first time since he allegedly attacked then girlfriend Rihanna in early February.

During a bowling game, Brown revealed that he is currently working on a new album entitled Graffiti, and while he didn’t provide a release date for the project, he announced that the first single will be released this summer.

Brown went on to indirectly address the pre-Grammy altercation that has, for many, forever changed his public image.

“We ain’t going nowhere,” he stated. “Everybody that’s hating, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love y’all. I ain’t a monster.”

On Wednesday, rapper Bow Wow announced his support of Brown, who he says is like “his brother.”

Following a live phone call, prompted by view requests, Bow Wow made it clear that their friendship had not been affected by the recent events.

“That’s my best friend, I hold him down,” said the Atlanta-based former child star. “He good with me. F**k what a hater got to say. Ain’t nobody f**kin’ with that boy, man.”

Chris Brown is due in court on Thursday (May 28), where he will face one count of felony assault and one count of making criminal threats.

During his April 6 arraignment, Brown plead not guilty to both charges.video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

Wednesday Fashion Feature: “Celeb Style: Ashanti”

Do you think Ashanti is a stylish woman?

She seems to gravitate towards big shiny jewelry and outfits that hug her curves tightly.

As you may have heard in recent news, it was announced that the “Princess of Murder Inc.”, may be dropped from the label.

The label head, Irv Gotti, has said that they haven’t been on speaking terms for a while, and there is nothing he can do but end their musical/business affiliation.

He recently told MTV, “the relationship has run its course, the chemistry of what’s needed — we’re in two totally different places”.

TOP 5 DEAD OR ALIVE PRODUCERS: DJ Premier

DJ Premier aka Preemo is the standard by which all Hip-Hop producers strive to be. The notion is absolute, like it or not. From his innovativeness to his uncompromising style to his tour of duty – Preem is it. He’s done it all from his professional debut in 1987 with Gangstarr to his modern work with Christina Aguilera and the innumerable acts in between.

Only a select few can match the repertoire that Preemo has cultivated over the last 20 years. But, this is an intro about those beat maestros that Premier loves and respects. Understand, Premier is no child so his influences and Top 5 is reflective of his background.

Without further delay, DJ Premier’s Top 5 Dead or Alive…

LARRY SMITH

“Larry Smith is a producer that used to work with Kurtis Blow, Run DMC with “Rock Box” and all that. He did a lot of the Whodini records. Very, very, very good producer.”

[Early in his Hip-Hop career, Smith crafted songs for Kurtis Blow and Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, rap’s early super stars. He later produced Run DMC’s first two albums, their self-titled debut (1984) and King of Rock (1985). Additionally, Smith wove a string of hits for Whodini, including their 1984 debut Escape with hits like “Friends.” – source AllHipHop.com]

MARLEY MARL

“Marley Marl is my idol of Hip-Hop. He’s like the James Brown of Hip-Hop.”

“At Your Own Risk” – King Tee (Produced & remixed by Marley Marl)

QUINCY JONES

“Quincy Jones is a no-brainer too. He did movie soundtracks back in the 50’s and 60’s when he was a young cat and all the way up until he produced “Thriller” for Michael and all that. He broke the code of music theory and created his own lane on how to count and start on the “2” and not always on the “1.” You gotta watch him to know when to change up, because he’s so unorthodox with his production and his talent as an artist.”

“Summer In The City” – Quincy Jones (Sampled by Pharcyde and Black Moon)

RICK RUBIN

“Rick Rubin is a major, major reason – no disrespect to Russell, because we know Russell’s that dude… Rick Rubin did a lot of them beats that transcended…hard reality of production. And to be a founder of Def Jam Records when it was Def Jam…before it got soft and watered down. Signing groups like Public Enemy and the Junk Yardband. Showing that they can sign a Go Go act. All the way to all the old Beastie Boy records when they used to have the purple label. When MCA and Berzootie and Jimmy Spicer. Even with Russell and Jazzy Jay with the record Def Jam. LL Cool to be the first official artist that they signed with “I Need A Beat.” T La Rock “Its Yours” on the Party Time label which is really the official first Def Jam record ever. That’s how far back it goes so shout out to Rick Rubin too.”

“Give It Away” – Red Hot Chilli Peppers (produced by Rick Rubin)

“Rock The Bells” – LL Cool J (produced by Rick Rubin)

Preemo Bonus – GEORGE CLINTON

“On some real s**t, I gotta make it six. George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic, Booty’s Rubberband, Eddie Hazel, Parlet, the Brides of Funkenstein. He [George Clinton] was James Brown spaced-out – on some other s**t. James Brown was spaced out anyway, but George Clinton living is just the epitome of funk and all that other s**t.“

Attempted Murder Case Begins for C-Murder

Yesterday (May 26), court proceedings began for C-Murder (Corey Miller) on attempted second-degree murder charges.

Prosecutors allege the New Orleans rapper tried to kill a bouncer and the owner of a Baton Rouge nightclub in August 2001.

The constant delays in the case were due to the East Baton Rouge district attorney’s office.

Because of Miller’s upcoming, high-profile murder case in Jefferson Parish, East Baton Rouge prosecutors waited until the rapper’s appeal attempt was decided.

According to court documents, the near-fatal encounter occurred when Miller refused to be searched before entering Club Raggs.

After a brief argument, the rapper attempted to fire a semi-automatic pistol at the club owner and a bouncer.

The shooting was averted when the weapon unexpectedly jammed.

On August 3, Miller will begin a retrial on second-degree murder charges for the shooting death of 16-year old Steve Thomas at a Harvey club.

The former No Limit solider was granted a retrial from his 2003 conviction, after an appeal revealed prosecutors failed to disclose the criminal background of 3 eyewitnesses.

C-Murder’s posted $1 million bond requires him to remain under house arrest, with exceptions made for court appearances.

The second-degree attempted murder case is scheduled to end tomorrow (May 28).

The Usher Chronicles: Evolution of an Entertainer

Within the confines of the world of music, singers with one

name represent an exclusive group who have mastered the art of name recognition

without the last name.

Prince, D’Angelo, Maxwell and Madonna are true masters in

their own right, as well as Usher. In fact, the Dallas-born crooner has

expanded his moniker with forays into acting and business, all while making the

time to plant roots with a wife and kids.

Long before coming clean in 2004 with his hit album Confessions, Usher Raymond IV set the stage for international

stardom with a stint in the group Nu Beginnings and an appearance on the TV

show Star Search. The appearance

segued into an introduction with LaFace Records co-founder L.A. Reid, who

signed Usher to the label and introduced the singer to a national audience with

the single “Call Me a Mack.” The tune was featured on the soundtrack to the

1993 Janet Jackson/Tupac Shakur film Poetic Justice.Call Me A Mack – Usher

Usher’s self-titled debut arrived a year later with featured

production from Sean “Diddy” Combs on several songs. In addition, the offering

included the hit singles “Can U Get Wit It” and “Think of You,” the latter of

which featured a video showcasing dance moves choreographed by TLC’s T-Boz.

And while selling a little more than 500,000 copies is

impressive, Usher continued to aim higher with his 1997 opus My Way. Not only did the album produce a string of popular

tunes (“You Make Me Wanna,” “My Way” and “Nice and Slow”), but it marked the

beginning of Usher’s alliance with So So Def head Jermaine Dupri as well as the

emergence of his chiseled physique and sex symbol persona. You Make Me Wanna… – Usher

Add to that the more than multi-platinum status the album

eventually achieved, as well as the same fate for its follow up (2001’s 8701 and singles “U Got It Bad” and “U Remind Me”) and

Usher’s star was well into orbit.

Pouncing on the opportunity to expand his résumé, the

vocalist spearheaded an invasion of the small screen with a recurring role

alongside fellow R&B singer Brandy on her show Moesha as well as acting experience on the soap opera The

Bold and the Beautiful, The

Twilight Zone, 7th Heaven and American Dreams. Those looking to dodge Usher at the local movie

theater were out of luck as the singer/songwriter marked his arrival on the big

screen with his film debut in the 1998 feature The Faculty. A starring role in 1999’s Light It Up provided preparation for fans who noticed Usher in

the romantic comedy She’s All That

as well as the 2001 vehicle Texas Rangers.

Yet despite everything, there was no one for the crooner to

share his success with. Enter T-Boz’s TLC group mate, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas.U Got It Bad – Usher

The couple, who began dating in 2001, were seemingly a match

made in heaven, as one was never far from the other. Whether it be an awards

show, red carpet movie premiere or normal outing at a local hot spot, Usher and

Chilli were the equivalent of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. A picture perfect

couple that could do no wrong in the early millennium.

Or so we thought.

Three years later and paradise becomes undone. As Lauryn

Hill and Mary J. Blige have proven, with personal tribulation comes great

music.

Usher’s pain from his break-up with Chilli yielded huge

album sales with his most successful album to date, 2004’s Confessions.

Released on March 23, the Arista Records release garnered a

healthy buzz as it made an immediate dent with the Lil’ Jon and

Ludacris-affiliated super hit “Yeah.” Powered by  follow-up singles such as “Confessions Part 2,” “Burn” and

“My Boo” (a new addition featuring songstress Alicia Keys that appeared on a

special edition of the album), Confessions

received a Grammy Award for best contemporary R&B album while selling

nearly 20 million copies around the world and going platinum and gold in more

than 20 countries.

Needless to say, the music was good. But the question

lingered regarding how faithful the tunes were to Usher’s past relationship

with Chilli. Usher himself planted the seeds among fans by saying the album

will shed light on “his own little secrets.”

“All of us have our Pandora’s boxes or skeletons in our

closets. I let a few of them out, you know. I’ve got a lot to say,” said the

entertainer told MTV News about what he considered to be his most personal

offering yet. “I’ve got a lot of things and stuff built in me that I just want

to let go of.”

Details of the Usher/Chilli break up, which occurred in

January 2004, surfaced during an interview Chilli granted to an Atlanta radio

station the following month. Rumors that the album’s lyrical content stemming

from infidelity on Usher’s part had ran amok among fans.

Although Chilli alluded to the singer/actor doing “the

ultimate no-no” as the reason she “will never be with him again,” Usher brought

his side to the forefront by saying the relationship “just didn’t work out.”

“But cheating is not what caused the relationship to collide

and crash,” he explained to MTV. “That ain’t what broke it up.”

Nevertheless, the rumors persisted, even as Dupri claimed Confessions

reflected what he, not Usher, was going

through. With more than one million copies sold in its first week of release,

the album became a historical achievement, as it emerged with Soundscan’s

highest-ever first week sales by an R&B artist and second-highest first

week sales for a male artist.Yeah – Usher

As a result, there was no better way to go out than on top.

Riding his wave of good fortune, Usher took time off to star in the movie In

the Mix as well as try his luck on Broadway

with his portrayal of Billy Flynn in the long-running musical Chicago. Although he didn’t release solo material during

this time, Usher occasionally made it into the studio to lend his vocals for

songs by Lil’ Jon (“Lovers and Friends”), Jay-Z (“Anything”) and R. Kelly

(“Same Girl”).

In addition, the Chilli era officially came to an end with

the revelation of the singer’s relationship with his stylist, Tameka Foster,

whom he became engaged to in February 2007. The union raised more than a few

eyebrows as Foster triggered less than flattering commentary from fans and

internet bloggers. Chatter about Foster’s tense relationship with Usher’s

mother, Johnetta Patton, came to a head when the crooner fired Patton, who also

served as his longtime manager.

Despite rumors of the termination stemming from Foster and Patton, not

getting along, Usher went into damage control mode during a July 2007 interview

with VIBE magazine,

“I decided to not fire, not get rid of, but to give [my

mother] the ultimate compliment — to retire her to be a full-time

grandmother,” he said. “My mother and I decided to change her situation,

together,” Usher told the publication. “There was a conversation. I didn’t

write her a letter or pink slip her.”

Fed up with constant criticism leveled at Foster, Usher

sounded off in an open statement, saying how:

“It’s disturbing that the media and bloggers (under the

guise as ‘fans’) continuously speculate on the personal aspects of my life,

therefore making assumptions and wrong insinuations that my fans are subject to

believe. I am happy, excited, completely clear and independent on my direction,

feelings, decisions and I am NOT BEING LED. Some media and bloggers have been

totally intrusive, they have misconstrued aspects of my personal life and,

because of this, my ‘true’ fans are not sure about what is fact and what is

fiction. There is a difference in stating an opinion versus drawing a

conclusion that is incorrect.”

“…I understand the fact that I must sacrifice some anonymity

for the career I love, however some things are personal like having a child or

a marriage. These aspects are not for the public and, to me, are sacred. I

would hope my privacy in these areas would be respected.”

Ultimately, love did conquer all as the couple finally

married on Aug. 3, 2007 in a private ceremony. By the end of that year, the

Raymond’s welcomed their first child, Usher Raymond V. Naviyd Ely Raymond

followed a little more than a year later.

Between the births of his first and second born, Usher

released his fifth album Here I Stand.

Unlike his previous efforts, the album carried a more mature theme that

reflected his new outlook with track such as “Moving Mountains,” “Trading

Places” and the title song. Despite the current frame of mind, Usher unveiled a

throwback to the past with his hit lead single “Love in This Club” and its

accompanying Beyoncé and Lil Wayne-featured remix.

To help support the album, the singer capitalized on his sex

symbol status to embark on a tour for ladies only.

Despite all of his accomplishments, the presence of singers

like Justin Timberlake and Ne-Yo offer a legitimate threat to Usher’s dominance

in the years to come. But with a part-ownership of the NBA’s Cleveland

Cavaliers franchise and his own record label, US Records, (not to mention his

nonprofit organization New Look), Usher can take comfort in knowing that life

after music will not be difficult.

Nevertheless, the challenge for his fellow entertainers may

be to amass as much, if not more, recognition and a sense of fulfillment that

comes with making your first name an entity unto itself.Love In This Club – Usher **To get the latest AllHipHop Alternatives Features, follow us on Twitter @ www.twitter.com/AHHalternatives**

Tinchy Stryder: Prince of Grime

If the UK grime scene had a family tree it would go something like this. Wiley aka the ‘Godfather of grime’ would sit at the top of the tree. Former Wiley protégée Dizzee Rascal would be the next heir in line and as the tree splitters down and sideways popular names such as Ghetto, Kano and Chipmunk would appear. Second ‘cousins’ Sway and Lethal Bizzle would also make an appearance but if grime were to have a nephew – it would be Tinchy Stryder.

Hailing from the ‘spiritual’ home of grime – Bow E3 – Tinchy Stryder is to grime what a bun is to a burger, the two just go together. Under the wing of grime’s Godfather Wiley, Stryder burst onto the underground scene aged just 16. His small stature, rapid delivery and intense flow coupled with some east London swagger made Tinchy a popular feature on pirate radio stations such as Rinse FM.

With several underground hits and a promising debut album under his belt, it was merely a matter of time before the rapper made it to the top of the charts. His back to back commercial hits Stryder Man and the number three charting Take Me Back – have already made him a household name.

Now 22 (and still 5’1) the rapper – who has been number one in the UK singles chart for three consecutive weeks – is currently putting the touches on his sophomore album Catch 22. Michelle Adabra caught up with the mc to talk about life on top of the charts, the future of grime and taking on the US.

AllHipHop.com: How are you feeling about your number one record?

Tinchy Stryder: It’s one of those things that you dream about. When I first heard the news I just couldn’t believe it really, I’m very happy right now.

AllHipHop.com: So you’re the first artist in the UK to go to number one with a record called ‘Number One’- not even Kanye and Pharrell could manage that…

Tinchy Stryder: …I know I heard that I’ve set a record (laughs). I didn’t call it Number One thinking, ‘I’m going to number one’ but it happened anyway so I’m thankful.

AllHipHop.com: You’re currently working on your new album Catch 22– what can we expect from it?

Tinchy Stryder: It’s like a new sound for me on this album. I’m really experimenting, obviously there are some grime sounding tracks because that’s where I’ve come from but I’ve tried to not limit myself in terms of sound. I didn’t want to go to crazy on the collobos, so far I’ve got a track with N Dubz and Frank Music – who are both doing big things in the UK right now.

AllHipHop.com: So was it a conscious decision to move away from the traditional grime sound?

Tinchy Stryder: No it wasn’t really conscious, sometimes it just depends on the producer you’re working with. If I’m working with someone who makes those really dark, grime beats then that’s what I’m gonna record. The difference is, this time around I worked with different producers and just tried to experiment more, I’m really excited about the stuff we’ve done so far.

AllHipHop.com: You’ve been dubbed the ‘prince of grime’; do you still see yourself as a grime artist?

Tinchy Stryder: Well yeah I’ve come from the grime scene, so that will always be a part of me. Obviously the singles I’ve released recently aren’t really grime but they connect more with the mass. Things are changing there are a lot of artists from the grime scene who are making different types of music now. I never called myself that name, it was given to me but at the end of the day I have come from the grime scene and I’ll always be proud of that.

AllHipHop.com: Like you said a lot of grime artists are moving in other directions – do you think there still is a thriving grime scene?

Tinchy Stryder: The people at the top of the grime scene do seem to be moving in other directions however I’ve been writing and spitting since I was 13. I can look back now and see a new wave of kids coming up and doing their thing in grime and these kids are going to experiment and take the music even further than we did.

AllHipHop.com: A lot of UK acts are having success in the States at the moment – do you have any plans to do the same?

Tinchy Stryder: Yeah, hopefully. UK artists are doing pretty well at the moment so in time I’d like to see if I could penetrate the US market. Hopefully they like my music and want me over there!

Hip-Hop Rumors: Pretty Ricky Explains Gay Dance! The Dream’s Boston Fail! Drake & Teyana?

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

Man, if feel bad for all the people that have recently lost somebody in their lives. I’m thinking about King Tee, who lost his teen daughter. I’m thinking about Young Dro, who I heard lost his sister. I’m thinking about Mike Tyson, who lost his 4-year-old daughter just yesterday! Man, life is a MF. Sometimes, I feel like I’m just here and going wherever the tide takes me. Anyway, God bless these people and anybody else out there that has lost anybody. Crazy times.

Not to be a downer, so lets move on to the rumors.

T.I. supposedly married Tiny just before he went to jail. Well, that’s a nice gesture. Click here for the story.

OJ Simpson has appealed the verdict in his case claiming there was a lack of diversity in the jury.

A man was arrested in the UK for trying to give Jay-Z his demo. They thought he was trying to attack Beyonce. Demos are so 90’s and 80’s.

DRAKE WAS IN NYC, BUT LETS TALK ABOUT CALI!

Here is a dose of facts, according to the people I know out in Cali. Here have been rumors about why Drake wasn’t at Elements in Hollywood. The real truth, according to my sources, is Drake WAS there 100%. The problem was the promoters implied or lied to their patrons and promoted the event as a concert when it was really just an appearance and afterparty, my SOURCES SAY. So when Drake and Co. arrived to see the whole crowd in front of a stage like it was a show, he wasn’t having it. He didn’t want to let the crowd down by not performing, but he wasn’t paid to do so. So, it wasn’t Drake’s fault.

I after I did all that writing, somebody sends me Drake’s own words and here they are:

“I WANT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE THAT TRANSPIRED AT ELEMENT NIGHTCLUB IN LOS ANGELES ON SATURDAY MAY 23RD. ANYBODY THAT ATTENDED CLEARLY SAW ME ARRIVE AND LEAVE WIHTOUT THE PERFORMANCE THAT THEY WERE PROMISED. I LEFT THE VENUE BECAUSE THE PARTY WAS PROMOTED AS A FULL PERFORMANCE AND NOT AS A NIGHT THAT I WAS HOSTING. THE FLYER FOR THE PARTY SAID “MAIN SHOW” WHICH LEAD PEOPLE TO BELIEVE I WAS GIVING A SHOW AND ALLOWED PROMOTERS TO CHARGE 40 DOLLARS A PERSON. I HAD A SHOW AT CAL STATE THAT NIGHT AND AT NO TIME DID I INTEND TO DO ANOTHER SHOW AT ELEMENT. I WAS BEING PAID TO HOST A PARTY AND WHEN I SHOWED UP THE MONEY I WAS PROMISED FOR THAT SIMPLE TASK WAS SHORT. THE PROMOTERS WERE ASKING ME TO “JUST DO ONE OR TWO SONGS” AND LEAVE BUT I AM AN ARTIST AND I TAKE PRIDE IN THE SHOW I’VE PUT TOGETHER. I REFUSE TO STEP ON STAGE AND ALLOW PEOPLE TO BELIEVE THAT I AM OKAY WITH THEM PAYING 40 DOLLARS TO SEE ME RAP OVER TWO RECORDS THAT MY DJ PLAYS. I LOVE MY FANS TOO MUCH FOR THAT AND THEREFORE I LEFT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EXPLAINING THE MISHAP IN THE HANDS OF THE EVENT ORGANIZERS. I APOLOGIZE TO ANYBODY IN LA THAT WAS DECEIVED AND I PROMISE THAT WHEN I RETURN I WILL DRAIN MY BODY OF ALL ITS ENERGY WHEN I HIT THAT F***IN STAGE AND GIVE U ALL THE BEST PERFORMANCE I CAN. I LOVE YOU ALL.”

Question: why do rappers type in all caps?

THE DREAM’S NIGHTMARISH FAIL

Dream was at the Boston House of Blues with Keri Hilson and them. For some reason, Keyshia Cole wasn’t there, but that not the point. The point is, the crowd was super-hype to see The Dream. Dude didn’t realize that he was in the home of the BOSTON RED SOX. And he made the mistake of rocking a Yankee’s fitted. Some member of the crowd got every loud and belligerent in there. During The Dream’s set, they kept screaming “YANKEE’S SUCK, YANKEE’S SUCK.” By the end of the show, Dream got the hint and put on a rhinestone hat. I heard that he gave the hecklers the middle finger for good measure.

I don’t know what this is all about but, one of the homies hit me up and said he and some of his boys almost got into it with Nore and his clique. Like 4am in the morning the were on 42nd street in Manhattan and they saw Nore. Well, he said that Nore said something like, “What’s poppin, Purple City?” in a way that they felt was disrespectful. He said they were outnumbered 2 to 1 so they didn’t do anything at first. He said they came back about a minute later and Nore was gone. They got into it with the remaining members of the crew though, but they were most interested in getting Nore! I don’t know if this is true, but we don’t need any dead rappers!

WHO DID WHAT WITH WHO?

This is coming from the Twitter of p### star India. Now, I didn’t really know who Claudia Jordan was until today. India spilled the beans on this Jordan woman by saying she did a “professional” on Diddy. I can’t confirm or deny this, but only report it as what India claims. How India can make this claim is anybody’s guess. Here is what she said:

At any rate, Claudia was very diplomatic and positive about the mess by saying the following:

DRAKE AND TEYANA?

She may not have liked the Rihanna rumors, because suddenly these Drake pics pop up.

She says they are just friends so…we’ll see.

THE ORIGINAL PRANK

You remember the prank yesterday? Well, this is the original. He GOT GOT! Now, I see why he got his boy back so bad. These are some serious PRANKS!

CHARLES HAMILTON REPLIES!

It is on the record. I tried to hit up Charles Hamilton on twitter, but he wasn’t around so the rumor ran. Any star that wants to get at me directly may do so at [email protected] or twitter.com/illseed.

Here is some of what Charlie had to say about the rumor that Interscope wasn’t feeling his album:

First off, thank you Illseed for my morning coffee. Actually cooled me down a lil bit to know that my album’s “status” is worth being in the AllHipHop rumors section. Now if I can only get a review of anything other than my face’s ability to block punches…

NOW.

What Jimmy told me was to do my thing, and use the business to my advantage.

Interscope is used to a certain sound, as evidenced through the latest Em release (“Relapse”). The crystal clear, uncompressed sound, usually mastered by Dr. Dre (or Ron Fair) is what makes an Interscope album an Interscope album. Content and production wise, they LOVE “This Perfect Life” (much to the dismay of the email).

As far as sound quality, they don’t understand it.

“This Perfect Life” was professionally mixed, but in the mastering, I did things a little bit different. Each song was ran into vinyl, before digitally remastering each vinyl-ly mastered song, before mastering the album together as a whole. So you hear actual dust from the record.

So it sounds a lot older than it really is.

Quite literally, you hear the needle drop on the record.

The point of me doing that is, the mainstream way of presenting music is getting old. Yeah I know, “Charles this mix sounds like crap.” That’s kinda the point. You have to LISTEN. The points I bring up with this album on every song go beyond the 30 second sound-byte of a ringtone. There are solutions to problems that we all face that need to be heard.

Or is that not what an artist is supposed to do?

There is a plan to put “This Perfect Life” in stores after it’s online release, as a box set, with a DVD of animated videos that string the concepts of the song together to make a movie. There will also be a collage if you will of my interviews and interviews with celebrities, politicians, and commonfolk about what a perfect life would mean to and for them.

We’ll work on those music reviews.

And, Charles…because I care…here is a new babe for you until things are smoothed over with Briana. This woman is Ms. Stitz and she has the largest breasts on Earth. Don’t say I never did anything for a playa.
