Rapper Saigon Set to Drop ‘Warning Shots 2’

Fresh off the positive reception of All In a Day’s Work, Saigon has confirmed with AllHipHop.com the release of Warning Shots 2.

Working again with label Amalgam Digital, the project will be marketed as a full-length album distributed through CD and digital formats.

Saigon’s previous 2009 LP, the Statik Selektah collaboration All In a Day’s Work, was recorded in 24 hours and released in just a week.

With the funds for traditional promotional campaigns shrinking, Saigon feels his recent projects offer a blueprint for artists on how to break the divide between mixtapes and albums.

“I’m enjoying my experience with Amalgam Digital and being creative to give music to my fans without all the bullsh*t,” Saigon explained to AllHipHop.com. “It’s a new way of thinking and it feels good to partner with an innovative company that’s ahead of its curve. I’m excited to get this album out!”

Saigon’s recent explosion of work is the result of a recommitment to his career following years of stagnation on Atlantic Records, where he remained under contract from 2004-2008.

Warning Shots 2 features an array of guests in Grand Puba (“Who Can Get Busy”), Lil Fame of MOP (“Rusy Gunz”), Ransom (“F*ck Me, F*ck You”), Quan, and O.J. Da Juiceman (“For Some P*ssy”).

The latter offering is the lead single, with a clean version ready for radio outlets.

The album also has production from Just Blaze, and will serve as a lead-in to their oft-delayed, but still highly anticipated project The Greatest Story Never Told.

Warning Shots 2 will be available at retail outlets on September 29.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Nicki Minaj Boots Gucci Mane? Nelly Boots A St. Lunatic? Miley Cyrus Causing Beef?

DISCLAIMER:

All

content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.THE DAILY TWO SENSE

I just want to shout out my big homey Jesse over in the UK. He gave me the super ill story about Jay-Z’s first reaction to Game at Wimbledon last year.

Check out the story HERE!

If you have a story about an artist, please share it with me.

And if you have any rumors, please send them over. Honestly, half of the fun of this job is interacting with the people. GET AT ME!

NICKI MINAJ DUMPS GUCCI MANE?!

These Young Money rappers are just doing whatever they want to do, eh? Nicki Minaj is the latest one to make a bold move. I got the scoop from the homey BlogXilla.com. Here is what he said:

I just learned that Nicki has cut all ties w/ Gucci Mane and his manager Deb Antney to go with Cortez & Gee (who also manage Young Jeezy, Kanye, & Drake) Cortez & Gee told Nicki that she can’t have ties to Gucci Mane and be on tour with Young Jeezy. Think about it, you couldn’t tour with Biggie and be down w/ Pac’s team now could you?

They told Nicki that Wayne would not f*ck with her if she had an outside manager. Now If you didn’t know Nicki sings and raps and young money promised her she could do both, but they have no intention of letting her sing because of Wayne’s focus on his girlfriend singer Shanell Brown (D Woods sister) who also recently signed with Young Money records.

Here is the tour footage that Nicki wanted to be apart of.

NELLY KICKS THAT MASKED GUY OUT OF ST. LUNATICS?

It has been a long time since I got a good Nelly rumor. I don’t know if there is a such thing. But, rumor around St. Louis is Nelly has kicked masked-man Slo Down out of the St. Lunatics. We hear there are some issues in the camp that make or may not have to do with money. Take that how you want to take it. Nelly’s little brother City Spud is home from prison, and rumor has it likely to replace Slo Down. Not sure if that’s the case or not, but I didn’t even know dude’s name until I got this rumor. He was “dude with the mask on.”

MILEY CYRUS SWAPS KANYE FOR JAY?

I’m not sure what Miley was thinking behind this. But, she has a song called “Party In The USA” and there is this weird lyric that goes as follow:

This is all so crazy, everybody seems so famous

My tummys turnin and Im feelin kinda homesick

Too much pressure and Im nervous

Thats when the taxi man turned on the radio

And the Jay-Z song was on

And the Jay-Z song was on

And the Jay-Z song was on

Well, I am hearing that Miley has changed the lyric from “Jay-Z” to “Kanye.” They are claiming that this leaked version of the song is a “demo” and that the “real” one references ‘Ye. What is going on here and is she trying to start a beef?

K-FED IS A GENIUS!

Kevin Federline is one slick S.O.B.! I don’t know if you know or not, but he has gained a WHOLE bunch of weight in the last year or so. He’s so big, he looks like a house. Anyway, this may be all in Feddy fed’s plan. Rumors are pouring in that K-Fed is actually allowing himself to get all-fat so that he can score a reality show about losing the weight! Is that not sheer genius? Dude is crazy with the gimmicks, if this is indeed a gimmick.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

I got a funny email from the Democrats and it had this line, “Dick Cheney called… he wants his empire back.” Funny and probably true.

Kwame Smalls is a reality star known to viewers as “IT” from VH1 Reality Shows “I Love Money 2” is running for City Council member in the 26th District of Queens.

There is a lot of Jay-Z in today’s rumors so I am going to try to chill. But, he is reportedly going to tell all about his marriage to Beyonce in his biopic due this fall.

Drake is already going back to acting? He’s bagged a gig for “Us and Them,” a fish-outta-water sitcom. Do tell.

Has Reggie Bush moved on with his love life? Rumor has it, he has moved on with Lil Wayne’s ex, Toya Carter. Nothing set, just talk.

Rumor has it Michael Jackson used special shoes in the “Smooth Criminal” video where he leans crazy to the front without falling down.

Also, apparently Joe Jackson has dropped a bomb, saying that MJ did have another kid.

Rihanna made $15 million last year. Why do I feel like I lost?

Is it me or was “Wolverine” wack? It definitely wasn’t a classic!

Have any of you heard that Nas may have another baby on the way? I sure hope not! The support could be backbreaking!

If you are going to see The Roots, you may see Jay-Z. I’m hearing tonight he’s gonna pop up in the Roots NYC show and do a lil set. Saw this on blackbookmag.com.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

In jail, only the strong survive. I think if Michael Jackson were to go to jail, he would be fine. Why? Because of people like Jeffrey Salery. Jeffrey Salery is a 51-year-old inmate that is a rider. Apparently a 21 year old thought it was a good idea to talk ish about Michael Jackson. Well, Jeffrey Salery took matters in his own hands and broke the jaw of the younger inmate. Nobody quite knows what dude said for Jeffrey Salery to attack him so, but I bet he won’t say it again. The 21 year old is in a hospital being treated. Jeffrey Salery has been charged with battery with great bodily injury. No dissing MJ or else.

RANDOM QUOTES

Kid Rock recently told Rolling Stone what he thought about Twitter:

“It’s gay. If one more person asks me if I have a Twitter, I’m going to tell them, ‘Twitter this [bleep], mother[bleep]er. I don’t have anything to say, and what I have to say is not that relevant. Anything relevant, I’m going to bottle up and squeeze it onto a record somewhere.”

DJ KHALED’S BROTHER IS A RAPPER

This dude named Young L’z is supposedly DJ Khaled’s half brother and also rumored to be working on a mixtape with big bro. Check out the song right here. I have not verified anything, but they look similar.

Cam’ron Announces New Crew, New Businesses

Original Dipset co-founder Cam’ron has formed a new company called The U.N. and has launched a subdivision titled Dipset West.

The new brand includes a film, music and DVD subdivision, which will be headed up by Omar “Iceman” Sharif, the CEO and co-owner of the new company, which includes a new roster featuring Vado, Begetz, Fly Boyz, Charlie Clipse, Byrd Lady and Young Hustle.

“When we started Dipset, it was more than just a crew, it was a movement. The U.N. is a continuation of that movement,” Cam‘ron told AllHipHop.com in a statement.

Cam selected Sharif to oversee the new operation because of his track record in the film and music business.

“His experience is exactly what we need to make strategic connections at the next level,” explains Cam’ron,” Cam said of Sharif, who also executive produced the American Rap Stars Hip-Hop documentary.

Sharif has also overseen a number of deals with Onyx, Fredro Starr, Sticky Fingaz, Mariah Carey, ODB, RZA, Loon, Xzibit and Death Row.

Cam’ron is currently preparing a new Gangsta Grillz mixtape with DJ Drama in addition to recording material for U.N. debut album.

Cam also divulged some details about his upcoming projects, including a movie on notorious Harlem heroin dealer Guy Fischer, who sat on the notorious “Council,” an infamous New York crime syndicated.

“We got a movie coming out called The Bakery and then we’ll drop the second installment of Killa Season,” Cam’ron revealed. “We’re also discussing the release of The Guy Fischer bio-pic. In between films, we’ll keep the streets hot with The Gangsta Grillz Mixtape and we’ll most likely release Vado’s album immediately after. Vado got the streets on smash, and in Harlem, he’s got an unbelievable buzz. Everybody in Harlem already knows what it is,” Cam’ron continued “Between the films and the music coming soon on U.N. and Dipset West, we gonna keep the ‘hood in a frenzy.”

Warning: Tweets Is Watching!

When I read the headlines of the death of boxing legend Vernon Forrest, I was stunned, but not nearly as stunned after a friend told me what he released to the internet. I was shocked after seeing what the former champ had sent out on Twitter a mere week prior to his murder.

On Sunday 19th July 2009, @vernonforrest said:

Man I had a nightmare last nite I dreamt I come home and found 4 guys were breaking into my house. I pull my heater and it was empty they chased me and was about to shot me then I woke up. The first thing I did was get my heater and made sure it was loaded. That dream will not come true.

(Note: If you are wondering how Forrest tweeted so much past the 140 character limit, he used twitlonger.com to extend what he could say. Also, a “tweet” is a short message sent out on Twitter.)

I say this respectfully, but I just feel like Forrest was divulging too much information about himself and possibly setting the table for disaster. And, not to say there is ANY connection between his death and that tweet, but I definitely feel that “the tweets are watching.” There are those that are always going to be one step ahead of regular, casual social networkers and some of them use their wisdom for nefarious activities.

A family went on vacation. The man decided it was a good idea to send out a “tweet” on Twitter informing all of his followers that the entire family was away from the house. Well, he didn’t do just that, but that’s what it ended up being. In telling everything about his vacation, he unwittingly tipped off burglars. They got in, robbed the home and escaped scott-free. Now, much of this is speculative, but that is what the family suspects.

There is another similar incident.

On May 24th, @izzyvideo dropped this on Twitter:

We made it to Kansas City in one piece. We’re visiting @noellhyman’s family. Can’t wait to get some good video while we’re here. 🙂

And then four days later …

Well, it’s confirmed. Someone stole my Mac Pro and two displays while I’m visiting relatives here in Kansas City.

As the digital divided disappears (does it still exist?) and the implementation of mobile technology, people are able to mobilize and stay connected easily. The ‘Net is no longer comprised only of invisible, tech-savvy geeks. Hey, crooks are all over the internet and often ready for a T.M.I. moment online. As it pertains to your favorite rapper and the streets, it pertains to the rappers with their “tweets.”

Not only are fans following, but so are schemers and law enforcement. In my imagination, I’ve seen a rapper tweet about being in the club, about the great time he’s having and bragging about what he has. A bunch of “followers” are the same guys watching, as depicted in movies like Jay-Z’s “Streets Is Watching.” You get the picture…

Many of my write-ups are cautionary and for good reason. I want people to take care of themselves and avoid disaster at all costs.

Vernon Forrest had epic boxing matches with combatants like “Sugar” Shane Mosley, but most importantly, he was a good man. He was a humanitarian that dealt with mentally challenged young adults, he helped Beyonce with charitable initiatives and took care of his step-children. Perhaps his slaying was just a random person trying to rob him or maybe it was more sinister. At press time there were no suspect, but perhaps he’ll be able to find justice in the digital breadcrumbs that linger on the internet.

P.S. I wonder if Jigga will consider doing a remix called “Tweets Is Watching”…? Til then, here is the classic record, “Streets Is Watching.”

Jay-Z: ‘Time For Me to Lay My Blueprint on a Generation’

Jay-Z recently revealed his motivation for creating another Blueprint album came from his desire to establish a second trilogy of albums.

“I always wanted to finish the series because the first In My Lifetime series…you know I had three of those so I wanted to do three Blueprints,” Jay-Z told DJ Semtex in a recent interview. “I didn’t really have a direction and I didn’t want to just do it for the sake of just naming an album Blueprint. So as time passed, I finally got direction and it made sense to bring the trilogy to its end, you know.”

The pending release of The Blueprint 3 comes years after the arrival of 2001’s The Blueprint and it’s 2002 follow-up The Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse.

Both albums included a string of classic singles such as “Takeover,” “You Don’t Know,” “ Izzo (H.O.V.A.),” “Song Cry,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “’03 Bonnie and Clyde” and “Excuse Me Miss.”

“[On] this one, we’re pretty much becoming the icons that we looked up to. All the Sinatra’s and the Marvin Gaye’s and all those people that we looked up to. So I felt it was time for us to lay our blueprint or for me to lay my blueprint on a generation. Especially now with the way sales are going down and everything and how people being forced to make one type of music because they trying to get on the radio.”

Jay-Z also confessed to anticipating the reaction given to the album’s first single “D.O.A. (Death of Autotune).”

Since it’s release, the tune has generated reaction from fans and artists concerning the use of the autotune device in many of today’s current hits.

“It’s not like I hate autotune,” Jay-Z admitted. “ I mean I like records, some records with autotune. I just don’t wanna hear 1,000 records with autotune. It’s just too much.”

Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 is slated to hit stores on September 11.

Earliest Tupac Recordings Surface In Upcoming Album

Thirteen years after his death, Tupac Shakur’s first Hip-Hop recordings will now become available through a forthcoming album entitled Shakurspeare.

The project is the brainchild of Darrin Keith Bastfield, CEO of Born Busy Records. Bastfield was one of Shakur’s early collaborators, and the two formed a group together called Born Busy when a 16-year old Tupac first began to rap.

For long-time fans, the album will offer the first glimpses of Tupac’s Hip-Hop journey, back when he was known by his first rap name of MC New York.

“I was there when Tupac heard himself for the first time rapping on a recording. As he sat in the cafeteria of the Baltimore School for the Arts it was as if he couldn’t believe that he was listening to himself,” Bastfield told AllHipHop.com. “Just as Tupac was quietly amazed by hearing himself, I want people to hear Tupac as a young artist in his very first recordings ever having fun, rapping about issues that concerned us, and most importantly giving a cautionary and timely ‘Message of Peace’ in his own voice as if he was already a big rap star with a reputation to uphold.”

The title Shakurspeare is an allusion to a conversation between Bastfield and a 17 year-old Shakur, where the aspiring emcee revealed that he dreamed of becoming as renowned Shakespearean actor.

The LP cover will illuminate this motif by having a Bastfield oil painting depicting Shakur as Shakespeare.

“This project was a very spiritual undertaking for me, but most importantly it is about creating art and being educational. The vocals to the songs we wrote were all recorded accapella in 1988 on a cassette tape,” Bastfield explained. “Through technology the vocals were able be extracted, digitally mastered, and put to contemporary music that was produced in 2008. I wanted to keep the recordings as close to the vein of our ideas from back in the day. As far as new material to assist with the concept of the album as being like an audio documentary, I chose to work with producers and artists in my own backyard which are native of Baltimore, Maryland which includes International Jazz recording artist Maysa. My life and times with Tupac Shakur all happened in Baltimore, so I wanted the spirit of the Shakurspeare album, just as the book, to stay consistent.”

The new album will mark Bastifield’s second Tupac Shakur project. In 2002, he released the book Back in the Day: My Life and Times with Tupac Shakur through One World/Ballantine.

At press time, Shakurspeare will be released digitally on September 13 through Born Busy Records.

Sean Kingston: From Yesterday to Tomorrow

Through the years, the Reggae/Dancehall fan base has grown in America, especially through its popularity in most nightclubs. Reggae artists in particular who carry the torch within our society include Bob Marley’s sons Ziggy and Damien,

Shabba Ranks, Barrington Levy, Beenie Man, and a host of others.

Sean Kingston is another Reggae-inspired artist soaring to new heights and garnering commercial

success. The teddy bear framed singer with the glowing smile broke into

the spotlight in 2007 with his catchy hit single “Beautiful Girls.”

His self-titled debut

released via Epic Records went to number one in 21 countries and sold

over one million records worldwide. He also sold more than six million

digital singles and more than 4.5 million ringtones.

Now Kingston is back with

his sophomore effort, and he’s promising that this one will leave a

mark! His first single “Fire Burning” is blazing in the clubs,

has sold more than one million downloads on iTunes and is also nominated

in the Choice Summer Song category at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards.

We spoke with the entertainer about his new album Tomorrow, his

home country Jamaica, his fly new crib in Florida and where he would

[if he could] take actress Meagan Good on a date!

AllHipHop.com Alternatives: On September 22nd, you

will be dropping your sophomore album. Can you talk about this new project?

Sean Kingston: Tomorrow is a sick album; I feel like it’s going

to be a classic! It’s way better than my first album and I worked

with a lot of people on it. I feel like with this album I grew up so

much vocally, concepts of the songs, the melodies, my writing skills

and everything.

I worked with Lil Wayne, The-Dream, Wyclef, Good Charlotte. It’s an

amazing album, this album is going to set Sean Kingston apart and let

everyone know I’m a real solidified artist.

AHHA: So what is behind the title Tomorrow?

Sean Kingston: It’s

so futuristic. I feel like it’s ahead of me like as far as the sounds

of Pop, Reggae, R&B, Rap, creating all of them and fusing them together.

We all live for tomorrow, we don’t know what tomorrow holds for us in

life. So I feel like nobody’s going to know what this album holds,

their going to be really shocked. It’s definitely ahead of me! My last album

was yesterday and this is the new Sean now, this is the new me,

so Tomorrow.

AHHA:

When it comes to the production on the album, how much control did you

have in the selection?

Sean Kingston: I spoke

to my A&R and told him who I wanted to work with. I wanted to work

with Wyclef; I wanted to work with Detail because he’s a new producer.

He has been doing things for Akon and it has been sounding great! I

also wanted to hook up with Red One because he did all of Lady Gaga’s

stuff and I wanted that type of crossover. Red One has that sound that

just brings it to a whole different level.

I still got my big brother

holding it down J.R. [Rotem], who produced like four or five tracks

on the album. So I’m the one who told my A&R who I wanted to work

with and he just put it together, which was cool and everybody came

through.

AHHA:

While creating this new album, did you find yourself comparing

it to your first album?

Sean Kingston: The last

album was good, so I had to come back dope on this. I had to do it bigger,

there are alot of artists out there you can hear their growth. You can

see their growth when they come out with their sophomore albums. That’s

what Sean Kingston is going to do, it’s not going to be the same old

stuff, and it’s going to be dope!

AHHA:

Right now we are back stage at a Barrington Levy concert, what brings

you here?

Sean Kingston: Barrington

Levy, he knows my mom, I’ve been to plenty of his shows. He’s definitely

an icon in Jamaica. He’s somebody that I look up too from his performance,

his music and his writing skills. So I had to come check him out!

AHHA: As an artist representing

Jamaica, how do you believe the country influences your music?

Sean Kingston: Just

the scenery and the life down there. People have so much to write about,

poverty, the struggle and the stuff that’s going on makes you want

to write about so many things. A lot of people don’t know it, Jamaica

does have all of the tourist spots and all that, but it is a gritty place.

The different stuff that you can explore and see I think it makes your

music come out more stronger and better.

AHHA: So how are you

received when you go back to visit Jamaica?

Sean Kingston: It’s

big; Jamaica has alot of love for me and I have love for Jamaica. Everything

I do, I represent Jamaica, I throw Jamaica in there, I don’t forget

them at all. So they see that and they cherish that, when I go home

through the airport it’s chaos, the kids, everything, it’s great! It’s

nice and I feel at home.

AHHA: So I was watching

the MTV cribs and you were showing off you new fabulous home in Florida.

How much of a role did you really play in selecting this home?

Sean Kingston: That

same area where you saw my house, before I was signed I actually used

to drive around there and say you know I’m going to get a house around

here. When stuff started coming in and my dream came true, I was like

mom this is where I want to live. So that crib was actually built from

the ground up and it’s just how I wanted it. It’s a great house, I’m

comfortable, I’m blessed and I’m excited!

AHHA: Now you’re always

serenading the ladies, so do you have a special young lady in your life?

Sean Kingston: I’m single;

I haven’t found the right one yet. I’m really focused on my career now,

so for someone to come into my life they have to be able to complement.

They can’t come in, bring me down, and have me stressed out because

being in this industry is already stressful. So I just want to focus

on my career and take my career to the next level. If something comes

along, I’m not going to stop it! I’m going to see what it’s about,

but I’m not really going out there searching.

AHHA: I was on your Twitter

page and one of your Tweets said, “I

can’t stand girls who are over 21, but act ten.” Can you tell us

about the situation that prompted that tweet?

Sean Kingston:

I keep getting these unknown calls from these same girls. They keep

blowing me up, playing on my phone, and I’m like that’s so childish!

These girls are not ten years old, so I’m like why do they keep calling.

I got angry, so I posted that Tweet.

AHHA: What are some characteristics

in a female that you don’t like?

Sean Kingston:

I don’t like drama, so I don’t want the “he said she said,”

I don’t like that at all! Liars, attitudes, girls be quick with there

little attitudes. There are a lot of things!

AHHA: So let’s say

you could take any chick on a date, who would it be and where would

you take her?

Sean Kingston:

Oh Meagan Good! We don’t even have to go any further [laughs]. Meagan

Good, she’s beautiful! I would probably take her to Jamaica. We would

go to the beaches and I would show her where I’m from and just have

fun.

AHHA: This is a cutthroat

business and sometimes I know it gets hard, what keeps you pushing to

stay in this industry?

Sean Kingston:

My family and my label Epic Records, they’ve been great! I have a

good team, I can’t be mad. Everybody, we keep it pushing and we work

hard. I bring the music and they bring exactly what I’m doing right

now, which is amazing. This is a good look to be on AllHipHop.com!

AHHA:

If you were talking to a group of young singers, rappers or producers,

that were trying to break in the music industry, what would you say

to inspire them?

Sean Kingston:

Stay humble, keep God first and persistence is the key. You have to

have persistence, you can’t give up. You have to keep going, practice

makes perfect. I wasn’t always where I’m at and I still have room

to grow. Jordan wasn’t always Jordan and Ali wasn’t always Ali,

you just have to keep going!Fire Burning – Sean Kingston

ATLANTA – YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!

Here is a crazy rumor that’s almost certain to affect Hip-Hop. Somebody sent me something and it referred to Africa as “The A.” Now, the first thing I thought was that “The A” is actually Atlanta. African Hip-Hop is on the rise…do you think African Hip-Hop could actually turn into the new “The A?”

WHAT’S STEPHON MARBURY’S ISSUE WITH JAY-Z?

Man, I cannot spell dude’s name with out having to google it. Nevertheless, the dude Starbury (way easier to spell) was dissing Jay-Z during his live stream situation over the weekend. According to my girl ltma from Twitter, S.M. repeated the very beginning of Nas’ “Ether” like 10 times over and over and over. Then he talked about how much he wanted to lay Beyonce down and make sweet love to her. Well., he didn’t say that, but that’s what I heard he inferred in talking about how much he admired B. Starbury even banned a person from the chat that said that Jay was better than Drake. Wow. Then he started crying. No more 24-hour webcasts please!

Illseed’s note: A few years ago Starbury got robbed for his jewels at the light and Jay-Z rapped about it. Like yall not gonna get me like Starbury. Well, he didn’t like that.

DID REGGIE BUSH CHEAT?

After she and Reggie Bush broke up, Ki9m Kardashian BOLDLY proclaimed that nobody cheated on “nobody.” Well, I am hearing things to the contrary. Rumors say he did cheat on the bootiful Kim with a Latina stripper from “The A.” And that “A” is for Atlanta. If you happen to know a Latina stripper from Africa, I want to see her. Anyway, sorry for getting off track. The word on the street is when Kim and Reggie Reg weren’t together, the Latina was flown in to handle the business. But, the Latina was about to run to a tabloid and expose all the goodies and Kim blocked her, cutting a deal with the tabloid. She didn’t want to be embarrassed that he would cheat on “her.” She dropped him at a better moment – when things were cool.

EVERYBODY’S A FUNNY PERSON…WHOO KID DISSES JAY-Z!?!?

I thought they were so cool. WTF?! Jay-Z likes AHH and I hope to keep it that way.

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

They are giving away an AK-47 with the purchase of a new car. I think this is absolutely insane. I will just take the $450 and give me a .22. LOL.

“The only 911 I need is a chamber in a round.” A lot of dead men said that.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

I don’t think this is what Beyonce had in mind for “Single Ladies.”

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

I don’t know if you care, but I just happened to stumble on some pics of K-Fed and the dude has gotten super fat!

Nick and Mariah are doing it…they are still together! Defying the odds.

50 Cent is filming a movie called “Morning Glory” in New York. 50 is making this transition very nice.

The craziest thing happened. Amber Rose was seen with Nicki Minaj. You may not remember this, but Rosey said she totally would “get” with Nicki if she was with it.

Lionel Richie GETS IT IN! He’s pushing like 60 and yet, he has been seen swooning with Bai Ling, the actress.

I’m hearing rumors that Lil Wayne’s rock CD may NEVER come out.

I heard DJ Kay Slay is going to do a full show devoted to gay rappers. Interesting.

The dude Eko Fresh that dissed Joe Budden isn’t a well-lied guy in Germany. I got several letters affirming that. Here is a vid of him getting hit with a bottle. Dag!

CHECK OUT FEEZY!

You know something? I have to hand it to this dude Feezy. I had an opinion about a mixtape he did and dude didn’t even get offended. I didn’t like a MJ mixtape he had and son didn’t even cuss me out. For that, Feezy gets another shot here on the rumors page. Check out his new song and this is a better explanation of what he does.

ANOTHER DRAKE PARODY

This one is actually very funny, but you have to watch until the end to get it.

Dorrough: Walking The Walk

Dorrough is not your ordinary up-and-coming rapper. The rookie is out making a name for himself and gaining success that rivals veterans in the game, and he’s only had a record deal since early this year. The Dallas, TX native already has two char–topping singles back to back under his belt with “Walk That Walk” and “Ice Cream Paint Job” creating a huge buzz on both radio and television. But for those that know the man hit singles really shouldn’t be that big of a surprise. Dorrough was featured on fellow Texan artist Superstar’s local smash “Halle Berry”, which was reworked by Hurricane Chris this year and became a huge nationwide hit. Dorrough took the momentum from that collaboration as well as the buzz that he created from his mixtape grind and turned it into a record deal with E1 Records (formerly known as Koch) that included his own imprint, Prime Time Click. If early success is any indication of what’s to come it seems inevitable that sooner rather than later the whole industry will be walking to Dorrough’s beat.

AllHipHop.com: What’s it like as a new artist to have two big back-to-back singles already?

Dorrough: I mean as a new artist, first off I’m fortunate to be in a situation where I have two singles that are actually working, and not necessarily that they’re just big but the simple fact that they’re working. Seeing that it makes me want to work harder and come up with an album, which I already did. Seeing that, it really just inspired me to keep doing it.

AllHipHop.com: What was the inspiration behind those two singles?

Dorrough: mainly most of it just started off as mixtape tracks. With “walk That Walk” I was down at the HBCU college scene at the time and I was just going by different females and all the sororities and all that and the environment was what I was feeling and vibing to when I made the track. “Ice Cream” paint Job it was really just off the mixtape s### that I had been working and putting together and that was one of the songs that I ended up putting out and it just caught on. Really it wasn’t anything abnormal about me doing those tracks, I do a lot of songs and those were just the two that caught on.

AllHipHop.com: I’ve heard that you’ve done over 25 mixtapes since 2005. How do you keep up with that pace and come up with material that fast?

Dorrough: Man I mean at the time that like all I literally did. It was easy for me to have access to the studio and studio equipment and I would get different beats and put something on them and send them out to DJs. It really wasn’t that hard to get in contact with different DJs, it was just about me just doing the material and giving it to him and after that just getting on the mixtapes.

AllHipHop.com: So you went to college right?

Dorrough: Yea I went to Prairie View A&M, outside of Houston. It’s an HBCU.

AllHipHop.com: When did you feel you were ready to stop school and pursue music fulltime?

Dorrough: Man, almost when I got down there. Honestly it was like I was doing music full time even when I was down there. I didn’t stop going until fall of this year. My last semester was Fall 2008 which is last December. Basically when it all started taking off and I started just performing a lot. I really wasn’t able to be down at Prairie View as much as I should have been, so I just kind of felt like I wanted to take off a semester to avoid conflicts with the music you know. That’s when a label also came to the picture too. I got signed and from there kind of made it full time.

AllHipHop.com: Would you say being around the college campus atmosphere and being able to push your music on the students helped you out a lot?

Dorrough: Yea I man that’s what probably gave me the biggest buzz more than anything. I took advantage of that whole situation. I can’t even think of any situation that would help me out more than that because I was around everything that I needed to be around you know what I’m saying, especially with the music that ended up catching on. I would have to say definitely.

“Ice Cream Paint Job”

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

AllHipHop.com: Where would you say you fit into the Dallas, Texas Hip-Hop scene right now?

Dorrough: I’m trying to fit the standard right now, so whatever category that puts me in that what I have to say.

AllHipHop.com: How did your deal with E1 Records (formerly Koch Records) come along?

Dorrough: Well “Walk That Walk” had kind of got big in the South. Radio wise it was real big in Dallas and Houston. Then they came in and the started pursuing me after that and right after we negotiated a deal “Ice Cream Paint Job” was popping up on the radar in California, San Francisco. That’s one of the biggest markets you know what I’m saying. So with me having two songs in three big markets, huge markets and its two songs I guess they were kind of like well this dude busts, so being that they came and eventually they started working for records.

AllHipHop.com: So I heard they gave you your own imprint with them called Prime Time Click?

Dorrough: Yea Prime Time Click

AllHipHop.com: What type of responsibilities does that bring on you?

Dorrough: Right now I’m more about branding it and I’m more about branding it with myself. My point is to get as hot as I can and branding it as much as I can so when we start putting out projects people will respond to them. That’s all it is really its just trying to open doors.

AllHipHop.com: Down South rappers seem to be categorized or stereotyped as being gimmick rappers. People tend to bunch most of the new southern artist coming out as club rappers instead of lyrical all around rappers. Do you feel that description fits you?

Dorrough: Nah, I’m definitely lyrical and one thing is when this album drops people will get a real feel for me as an artist and really see I’m the real deal. Really I don’t really do too much speaking I’m more about showing people. People can say what they want and people can talk as much as they want, so I don’t really do too much speaking on that I’ll just show them. So once the album drops August 4th the music will speak for itself and then people can correct their opinions after that.

AllHipHop.com: What can fans expect from the new album?

Dorrough: They can expect it to be the best album to drop this year, I put a lot of hard work into it. We’re expecting four to five singles to come off the album including the two that are already out. Man I mean it’s some fire on it, it’s complete. It’s got different feels different songs different styles different everything. No song is going to sound like anything else that anybody else has, it doesn’t sound like the singles that are already out. It’s just a well balanced, complete album.

Dorrough “Walk That Walk”

AllHipHop.com: For people who aren’t aware of you yet, how would you describe yourself as an artist?

Dorrough: I’m an artist that for one is real passionate about what I do and I’m always trying to breakthrough and give them something that they’re going to feel. I want people to know that I’m an artist that caters to my audience. I’m always trying to kick something hot for them, always trying to kick something that they’re going to relate to, something that’s relevant to them. So that’s saying I’m always going to relate to my audience.

AllHipHop.com: What type of fan and audience are you trying to bring in with this album?

Dorrough: With the album I’m just trying to touch everybody that ain’t already feeling it. I feel like there ain’t no age limit, no specific age group that it can only touch. Basically anybody who ain’t already familiar with me or fans of me that’s who I’m trying to reach out to.

AllHipHop Chartwatch: A Slow Week In Hip-Hop, Brighter Future

Welcome back to Chartwatch where we look at the top 10 for the week and showcase a few new Hip Hop albums. Not too much is going on in the world of Hip-Hop this week. Flip through the reviews section and you’ll see that someone has actually heard Only Built for Cuban Linx II so we now have proof the album actually exist. Hopefully it will be released soon. That and the Slaughterhouse album should hold me over until Jay drops a new one. I know I said that The Game and Jay are going to have a lukewarm feud but apparently it might heat up. I like them both so it should make for a few good songs.

If you have been reading the charts for the last few weeks then you are probably familiar with Michael Jackson’s dominance in the top ten. Now, the Billboard charts do not include Jackson’s recent sales boost because for some reason there is a rule that albums older than two years don’t make the charts no matter what they sale. Well we include the actual sales here so don’t be confused if you see it different.

Jackson holds the first, fifth, and sixth spots with Number Ones, Thriller, and The Essential Michael Jackson.

All the parents can chime in on this next one. Who is Demi Lovato? She’s on Disney and has the number two album in the country, Here We Go Again. Is Disney growing these pop kids in a lab somewhere? This chick has two albums and this is the first I ever heard of her. I’ll just blame it on your kids and say, once again, they have to listen to something.

American Idol alum, Daughtry, follows the tween princess with his album Leave This Town at number three.

Maxwell grabs the number four spot with BLACKsummer’s night. His fourth studio album continues to hold on to the charts moving an impressive 75,000 copies over the week.

The Now compilation stays at the number seven with the newest installment Now 31. That is followed by the other Disney star, Hannah Montana. The Hannah Montana 3 soundtrack comes in at number eight.

I haven’t been too kind to this group over the past couple of months but despite my opinion they continue to sell. The Black Eyed Peas sell 53,000 copies of their latest studio album, The E.N.D, moving them up one spot to number nine.

Rounding out the top ten is another American Idol alum. The winner of the sixth season, Jordin Sparks, releases her second album, Battlefield, and claims the number ten spot.

That means Hip Hop is being represented in the top ten this week by The Black Eyed Peas. Well….wow. Let’s keep going until we get something else.

Eminem’s Relapse jumps up a spot to number 18 selling 25,000 copies over the week.

Twista was in “Dropping this Week” a couple of weeks ago and now holds spot 32, moving 16,000 copies of his new album Category F5.

Out of the top fifty albums in the country, 3 of them are Hip Hop. And out of those 3, one of them…is The Black Eyed Peas. Let’s move on to dropping this week.

Dropping This Week

This week we have a few “best of” albums so let’s#### them first. They are reissuing The Best of Busta Rhymes so if you don’t have a lot of his albums give this one a shot. It starts off with his Leaders of the New School days up to…Extinction Level Event (E.L.E)?!? Dudes had like five albums since then. I know it’s a reissue but come on. You know, even though this compilation cost six dollars it would probably be better to just go buy a couple of Busta albums (start with Extinction Level Event).

The next album in the reissue compilations category is by MC Lyte. The Very Best of MC Lyte has some of her greatest hits except….”Lyte As A Rock”?!? What is going on with the compilations? Granted this is not as bad as the Busta collection so if you’re a fan (or just not familiar with one of the original great female MC’s) then pick this one up.

Now the first up this week in the new releases is none other than Fabolous. The Brooklyn MC releases his studio album Loso’s Way. The album, themed after the 1993 crime drama Carlito’s Way, features Jeremih, Keri Hilson, The Dream, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Ryan Leslie, and Marsha Ambrosius. That’s a lot of R&B artist for a rap cd but he’s had some good songs with Ne-Yo so maybe he found his formula. There is also a deluxe version of the album that comes out the same day with an attached DVD.

Next up, Los Angeles based independent label Stones Throw Records releases another one from Dudley Perkins. His fourth album Holy Smokes drops this week and if you like the independent sound coming out of Los Angeles then it is a must have. If you haven’t heard some of Dudley Perkins earlier works then just know that he has done a lot of work with producer and labelmate, Madlib. (Plus, his new album has one of those interesting artistic covers that I like so much.).

Staying in the vein of independent westcoast MC’s the next album is from Long Beach rapper Sareem Poems. Black and Read All Over features Georgia Anne Muldrow, Pigeon John, Akil of J5, Othello, Ragen Fykes, Propaganda, Stro, and Ohmega Watts. Now, I’ll be honest and say I have no idea who most of those guests are but I heard parts of the album and it sounds pretty good. If anyone is up on Sareem then let the rest of us know.

Now it’s time to test your memory! Remember J-Kwon? Anyone? Given Hip Hop’s short term memory staying out of the game for five years after the release of your debut is career suicide. Well, J Kwon released Hood Hop in 2004, followed by Hood Hop 2 in February of this year as a digital download, and now comes Hood Hop 2.5. Now I wasn’t the biggest fan of “Tipsy” but it sold well (real well). Plus the song “Hood Hop” off of the first disc had one of the hardest beats out. We’ll see if this album will refresh Hip Hop fans memory of J Kwon.

I’m only going to say a lil’ bit about our next artist Lil Atlanta a.k.a Lil A. He’s from the group TrillVille. He has a new album It’z Me. It has songs like “Real N#####”, “Money Ain’t a Thang”, and “3 Gunz” so I’m guessing the album is about…real n*&&@’s, money, and guns. You know, I’m probably being a little too hard on Lil Atlanta (Especially since I didn’t say anything about Fabolous’ gangster cinema inspired album). If you like the TrillVille sound then pick this album up.

Next up, Lord Infamous (original member and co-founder of Three 6 Mafia) joins with T-Rock and II Tone to release the album Blood Money. Lord Infamous has produced a pretty big body of work and has a strong regional following. Those that are fans of the sound coming from the Hypnotize Minds camp should be looking out for this one.

That wraps it up for this week. Some of these albums were selling for less than eight bucks so hit some of the stores and support an artist or two.
