Yeah were back once again with your favorite rappers favorite column TOP 5 DEAD OR ALIVE. We know some of you were outraged last week with your boy Max Bs picks, but everybody sees the game different. Regardless we still make the world go around.
Up this week we got Corey Gunz. Admit it; he murdered Lil Wayne on his own ish. If youre still in denial go back to that A Millie one more time to see the light. Since then the kid has gained notoriety for ripping down other peoples beats like he bought them. Always spitting something crazy, Coreys choices shouldnt come as a surprise.
Jay-Z
Corey Gunz: On the real it’s tough for me to narrow it down to five people because so many dudes have influenced me so I don’t want to offend anyone. Let me get that out. But I have to go with Jay-Z first and foremost. Being the lyricist he is, the trends he sets in Hip-Hop and how he approached the game. He made a movement. Hes dope. Hes monumental, hes a lyricist too.
Hes one of the legends. I was raised in a real musical household and I grew up listening to a lot of different stuff. When I first heard Jay it was around Reasonable Doubt, I was around eight [years old] I think? I was attracted at the beats at that age. I was memorizing his sh*t at that age. For him to carry those criminal flows based on sh*t that has more than one meaning; that was unheard of.
Nas
Corey Gunz: I would have to say Esco because he paints pictures with his words. When he spit it you could really feel it. At the same time he is so witty and humble, it goes over your head. Jay is more disrespectful with his approach where Nas is like “Im your brother but stay in your lane.” Like yo he gave us I Gave You Power, and New York State Of Mind; I could go on [laughs].
[In response to Nas having one foot in the grave when Takeover dropped.]
I mean who didnt think that? I knew Nas was going to come back because I knew his capabilities. But I dont think anybody in their wildest dreams knew what kind of impact he was going to have when he made Ether. For him to come back the way he did after Take Over and then he came with a classic right after [Stillmatic].
Eminem
Corey Gunz: Im a Hip-Hop fan at heart. Im into lyrics. I dont care if your name is MC Garbage Pail, if you spitting something crazy, Im f***ing with you. At the end of the day, Eminem was spitting some bugged out sh*t but it was fire. I also relate to him as an artist, hes come from a lot. He came up from the grind. I grew up in this game battling but with him it was so much differences with him.
First of all hes white, him having to go to different hoods and get respect shows he came up from nothing. And bottom line his lyrical abilities, his concepts, his wittiness is crazy. Yo to be honest I know this is going to sound on some real Stan sh*t, which is really not the case. I cant name one joint that is my favorite from Em, he has so many joints where he went off.
Big Pun
Corey Gunz: How could I not mention Pun? Like Im going to keep one hundred with everyone; if you cant hear Big Pun in my flow then youre a retard because Ive grown up listening to that dude. In 98 I was one of the only dudes on my block pumping his music period. I would be repeating the bars from Twinz. I would be repeating number seven off Capital Punishment [The Dream Shatterer]:
“Reverse that / I curse at / The first wack n**** with the worst rap / Cuz he aint worth jack / Hit ’em with a thousand pounds of pressure per slap / Make his whole body jerk back / Watch the earth crack / Hand his purse back / Im the first Latin rapper to baffle your skull…”
[In regards to Puns passing]
It struck heart and home when Pun passed. My pops and Tariq took it real hard, so did The Bronx as a whole took it hard. He just came off making history, Pun was history walking. That sh*t hit people hard. Him and my dad did a lot of shows, so me going to their shows chilling and meeting him it hit me hard when he died.
&
Lord Tariq / Jada Kiss
Corey Gunz: Im not going to lie; my last choice is a tie. It got to be Lord Tariq and Jadakiss. Honestly Tariq has been a big influence to me period. Lyrically hes ridiculous. Hes so underrated and one of the greatest to touch the microphone. People just havent listened to him and paid attention. The streets will say it; the legends will say it too. Tariq recorded with Biggie; dudes overlook that. They did a song together called Think Big. Even from when I was in elementary school, Tariq was always putting work in. So dudes dont pay him respect.
But at the same time my cousin Jay put me onto to The Lox at a very young age. This is before Puff snatched them. Jada is one of the most spit in your face kind of disrespect there is. Honestly he is one of the most consistent sixteen bar spitters; thats why hes in my top five. You got to think about it, Jada has always been on point. Ive never heard him spit something trash. Think about that. I keep my ear to the streets and hes never spit anything wack.
The Sidebar:
Corey wants to clear up things up about a record recently blasted out that was supposed to be him featuring T-Pain. Mr. Autotune was no where to be found; as it was a reference for another artist that got leaked. So dont think the son of Peter fakes the funk. In closing Corey felt in a terrible way when Shaq went on stage him asking Kobe how his ass tastes. Pause.
Artist: Jamie FoxxSong: Infatuation?Year: 1994?Album: Peep This?Hey everybody! Its Wednesday and it’s time for another R&B Rewind! Every week I am fortunate to get suggestions from many of you about which songs to cover next. I appreciate all of your ideas, so please keep them coming! But anyway, lets get to this weeks pick. He got his start back in the 90s. Some of his accolades include a stint on In Living Color where he played the character Wanda, the television show The Jamie Foxx Show, and just three years ago he won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles. Well before the Oscar and the television show, and before landing on the hit song Slow Jamz with Kanye West and Twista, and releasing Unpredictable in 2005, Jamie Foxx dropped his first actual first CD Peep This back in 1994. I actually have this disc in my archives collecting dust with all my other CDs from the 90s, and I must admit every time I see it I smile because I wonder how many other people actually have the CD too. If youve followed Jamie Foxxs singing career you probably remember the single Infatuation even though the album Peep This was more of an underground release. Man, this song takes me back! I remember I didnt even know that Jamie Foxx could sing until I caught his stand up Straight from The Foxx Hole back in 1993. All I knew at the time was that Jamie Foxx was the guy from In Living Color who was funny as hell. But when I saw him sing during his stand up, I was taken by surprise. He wasnt someone that harmonized well and could hold a note, but a singer that touched you within when he sang. He had that take you to First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church sound, something a lot of us love and appreciate. Jamie Foxx has excelled to levels unimaginable today and Im sure some of you probably didnt know his singing career stretched this far back. And coming up this Sunday I am going to touch on a new single from him off his new album so make sure you check out Sunday Selection this week. I have a few things to say about Mr. Foxx and the current direction of his singing career and new album. Well yall thanks for taking time out to read what I had to say. Until next week yall enjoy this weeks R&B Rewind Jamie Foxxs InfatuationInfatuation – Jamie Foxx
If you looked at Jim Jones ten years ago you would never have thought
hed be where he is today. After a string of hits (youve said it loud, “Ballin!,”
admit it) and savvy business moves, the former second in command of the
Diplomats movement has really come into his own.
Going from hype man, to entertainer, to businessman, Jones resume
reads like a how to story for would be entrepreneurs
and hes still not done. After he gets his holiday money from the recently
released A Tribute to Bad Santa, Jim
Jones plans on hitting fans with his first major label album called Pray IV Reign.
With music, movies, and a stage play [Inside the Life & Mind of Jim Jones] all under his belt, Jim
Jones may have to officially change his name to Renaissance man.
AllHipHop.com: Youre
known for your rough image and street music so most people were shocked when
they heard you had a stage play. How did that come about?
Jim Jones: The
play was just an idea of mine. Did a new deal, trying to do something big. I’m
trying to get people to listen to the music. It’s just something innovative,
something new. I told my idea to the play director. He and I talked about the
ideas and my music and it turned into a musical.
Pop Champagne – Jim Jones & Ron Browz Feat. Juelz Santana
AllHipHop.com: Now
that you have it out whats the next step?
Jim Jones: I’m
trying to get it on the road right now. We’re trying to figure that out right
now so hopefully it’ll go through.
AllHipHop.com:
You have a Christmas album coming out, which is a little rare to see in
Hip-Hop. What made you want to do it?
Jim Jones:
Christmas is my best season. I love Christmas music. I did Dipset Christmas so this is my double back. I built a good rapport with
Mike Epps. He’s real funny so I told him let’s do a Christmas album with him as
Bad Santa and he was with it. We locked in and did it. Juelz
gave me some songs. So did 730, Sin City gave me some songs and we got some Byrdgang songs.
Even got a couple R&B bangers in there and smashed that thing
together. It’s genuine Christmas music but it’s Christmas music we can relate
to.
AllHipHop.com: You
mentioned Mike Epps but I remember Katt Williams was
tapped to be the official comedy representative for Dipset
a while ago. What happened?
Jim Jones: Katt is still Diplomats. He’s Diplomats/Comedy Central. He
runs the comedy division and we’re trying to build a movie division. Katt is a business man and we’re all
doing business.
We all cool. I haven’t spoken to Cam but as far as all the
other players, the ones who started it with me, we all cool. We’re still the
tight family we was. As for the artists, they’re
opinion really don’t matter anyway.
AllHipHop.com:
In keeping with the Christmas theme, what do you remember most about
the holidays when you were growing up?
Jim Jones: What I
remember most about Christmas is the G.I. Joes and Voltron
toys. The Lumber Jack jackets, the sheepskins and the
v-bombers that we were so thirsty to get.
AllHipHop.com:
Christmas is a holiday about togetherness and unity. Do you think theres a
chance well ever see unity among Dipset?
Jim Jones: I
don’t know what it’ll take, but there’s definitely a chance. There’s always a
chance to make money.
Bad Santa Intro – Jim Jones ft. Sen & Shoota
AllHipHop.com: Whats
you relationship like with the other members?
Jim Jones: We all
cool. I haven’t spoken to Cam but as far as all the other players, the ones who
started it with me, we all cool. We’re still the tight family we was. As for the artists, they’re opinion really don’t matter
anyway.
AllHipHop.com: In
another interview recently published on the Internet, you were quoted as saying
something to the effect of Cams ego being part of the break up?
Jim Jones: I
don’t think I said Cam’s ego but I will say it was both of our egos. Once
people’s egos get bigger than the money [then] these types of things tend to
happen.
AllHipHop.com: Can
you pinpoint where the disconnect between you two
happened and if so, is there anything you wouldve done different?
Jim Jones: I
couldn’t tell you man. I really can’t say.
AllHipHop.com: You
have a 50/50 deal with Columbia. Youve done pretty well with yourself as an
indie artist so what can fans expect from you now that youre on a major?
Jim Jones: A lot
more of me. A whole lot more of me. I’m sticking to the script. Nothing’s
changed. I’m still Jones. Except now I’m going to be all in your house, all in
your momma’s house. I’m definitely going to be a household name.
AllHipHop.com:
Artists have a tendency to lose a bit of themselves when they make the move to
the majors. Can we expect to see a difference in Jim Jones anytime soon?
Jim Jones: I
still do my music for the people I know. I do my music for the hood. I do my
music for the struggles and everything that came from the struggles, whether it
was success or not. I can never forget that. I put my experience in my music.
My music brings the people from the suburbs to the cities, to the hoods, to the
ghettos.
AllHipHop.com: You
have a longstanding relationship with Dr. Benjamin Chavis
of the Hip Hop Summit Action Network. With you becoming more of a household
name can we expect you to be even more active on social issues?
Jim Jones: I give
back as much as I can. People ask me to do things and I try to reach out. If
it’s for the kids Im always there for that. I’m not the biggest social
activist but I give back when I can. Like I’m on the board for Entertainers 4
Education.
AllHipHop.com: Your
first single was originally a song by Ron Browz. How
did you two link up and will you collaborate on anymore
projects?
Jim Jones: Ron
did like three or four songs on my album, Pray IV Reign. I heard the Pop
Champagne record and I told him Id give him some help and put a verse on
there. It turned into something way crazier than we would’ve thought.
AllHipHop.com: Who
else contributed to the project?
Jim Jones: C####
Santana, Byrdgang, Ludacris,
Busta, Ryan Leslie.
AllHipHop.com:
Speaking of collaborations, you and Dame Dash have been spotted a lot together.
How involved is he in your projects?
Jim Jones: That’s
my business partner. We got a bunch of ventures. We’re going in on these
suckers.
AllHipHop.com: So
youre officially bringing Dame Dash back to the music business?
Jones: Sky’s
the limit. Y’all n****s better be ready. We coming. We
better be on you n****s radar. The bleeps is louder than a motherf**ker right now.
AllHipHop.com: And
this is not a slight at Jay-Z in any way?
Jim Jones: Nah.
Why would it be? I don’t give a f**k about that n***a.
I don’t think about that n***a during the course of my
day. The only time I think about that n***a is when
the media mention him then it becomes a joke to me. I don’t give a f**k about that n***a.
AllHipHop.com: Whats
going on with your group, Byrdgang?
Jim Jones: We
just did a movie called Bird Flies High.
It’s kind of like a Pulp Fiction
meets Blair Witch Project type of
thing in the hood.
AllHipHop.com: Im
curious to see how that combination played out. It sounds like something that
would difficult to make happen?
Jim Jones: You’ll
see. Hopefully it’ll be out in a couple of months.
AllHipHop.com: You
and Juelz Santana are the only ones that are still
visible and representing the Dips the same way Wayne and Baby rep for Cash
Money. Is there a chance you two will do an album similar to the one they did
together?
Jim Jones: We’re
doing an album together. We’re probably going to attack that more after both of
our solo projects come out.
AllHipHop.com: Youre
being pretty secretive about the moves youre making. You dont want to give
the people something to look forward too?
Jim Jones: You
just got to stay tuned. I don’t like to f**k up my cover. I like to get that
low money.
We fly high – Jim Jones ft Diddy, Juelz & Lil Wayne

TODAY’S RUMORS!I said this yesterday and I’m just re-running it.
You know how Barack said he wasnt going to take money from the big corporate financers and really relied on the people? Well, that is how I am going to approach the rumors from here on! I want the thousands of people that read this page to help me make it better and better and better. I am only one person, lets be real here, and I bust my tail daily. I have Shelz helping me out a too, but thats two people. If you help me, help you its a win/win.
Soooooo if you SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING! Email me at al*************@***il.com. You know, there is no rumor thats too small, no tip that I ignore so people lets do it!
YOUNG BUCK GOING TO GRAND HUSTLE?
I have a lot of respect for Young Buck as an artist. Hes
damn good. Sadly, he is still tied into a deal with G-Unit. From what I heard,
Buck and his new management have been trying steadfastly to get out of the
G-Unit deal to get on with the business of making music. Anyway, if Buck can
get out of this deal, I am hearing he could sign with T.I.s
Grand Hustle. It would be a good way to start off 2009, since 08 was a tough
one.
A REAL DISTURBING OF THE PEACE?
A man by the name of Charles Miller was arrested a
fort-night ago after he was involved in an altercation of sorts with Chaka Zulu
of Disturbing Tha Peace. I dont have the full scoop,
but it seems that Miller was involved in the altercation at 300 Bowling Alley
in Atlanta.
This Miller man is related to that chick that accused Shaq
of stalking her. The charges were later dropped. Now, somebody told me that Shaq and Chaka are cousins. Now, thats seems to be the
spark that got thinks lit right up. Anyway, the chicks crew was there and they
clashed with Chakas DTP crew. I dont believe Chaka was involved overtly, but I
heard they were getting their tussle on right there in the bowling alley. There
was even food being thrown around like a good ol
fashioned food fight.
THE LATEST BREEDING GROUND DOWN WITH DRE?
AllHipHops Breeding Ground has
done pretty good, but the unsigned portion of AHH might have hit the jackpot. Checkout the latest in rumor land. Breeding Ground artist
Rain is allegedly being pursued by the good doctor himself. The rumor is that Dre might be backing the North Carolina rapper who has been flying in
and out of LAX over the last month and a half. What could he be doing out
there? Dre is recording the infamous Detox album that has been anticipated by millions of fans
across the world. Will Rain be featured on the album as his newest protege? Guess we will have to wait and see. Story
developing…
A MUSLIM FAN WRITES BUSTA RHYMES ABOUT ARAB MONEY
Well, I tried the hold off on this as long as I could, but
it seems that there is some ire raised in the Muslim community about the new Busta song, Arab Money. I am not an expert on being
Muslim, but I have gotten several emails on this. The following represents the
most articulate, well spoken and respectful of all of them.
Dear Busta
In Arab money remix
pt1 in the chorus you used (bismillah ulrahman ulrahim alhamdullillah rab ulalamen) which is a Quranic
verse from the first surah (chapter) in the Holy Quran, as an Arab and a Muslim it’s prohibited to sing or
cite a Quranic verse in combination with music and
most Muslims will find this disrespectful, as a fan I think it’s great to have
a song about you getting Arab money, and you mentioned Prince Walid bin Talal AL Saud and I am from the same country as he is and I’m sure
both of us respect the value of your work. I’m afraid this misunderstanding
will be interpreted as an offensive and disrespectful way by some people and I
trust that you wouldn’t upset and disrespect your Muslim and Arab fans and I’m
quite sure that you didn’t know that using a Quranic
verse in a song is disrespectful and for that you are excused as in Islam if
someone did a sin without knowing it is a sin, he/she will be forgiven by
Allah, Mr Busta If you are
looking for a hot Arabic verse you want to use in Arab money remix part2 plz contact me. (If you want to get at him, let me know, Busta people.)
I’m really lookin forward for Back On My B.S.
and keep that hot lava comin.

WHAT! KANGOL KID AND ROXANNE MAKE OUT?
This is definitely one for the old school. It is interesting
though. You know the UTFO hit Roxanne Roxanne,
right? Well the song was huge and also spawned the career of The Real Roxanne,
a hot Latina
not to be confused with Roxanne Shante. That song
came out like 25 years ago! One of the rappers in UTFO, Kangol
Kid, was tonguing down The Real Roxanne at a recent event. Apparently,
there was a huge beef with these two and it looks like they made up in a big
way! The two had not spoken until last week at a show in New York where the olive branch was
delivered and sealed with what appears to be more than a
friendly kiss. WOW.
ILLSEEEDS QUICKIES
You know, I have concluded that Slaughter House (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce and
Crooked I) might be the saviors of hardcore Hip-Hop. But, I am hearing that
Stat Quo might be trying to join the crew as their Southern Connect.
I am sure somebody is going to have something to say about
this, but I am hearing Hot Rod has been dropped from G-Unit.
Kenjo (of Field Mob fame) is
working with a new R&B cat who has just signed with DTP. I dont have his
name but I heard the tracks are fire. Also, Field Mob and solo Smoke are still
working on their music.
Ron Browz is totally on Motown
Records. Stevie Wonder has to feel some sort of way
about that. Check
out Stevie get down on the talk box like 45 years ago
way before T-Pain!!
Ludacris, T.I. and Young Jeezy came out in support of Democratic Senate Candidate
Jim Martin during a Rally For Change. I am not sure
if this move helped, because the Republican won.
I didnt even know The Dream was set to release a new CD.
Guess what? His scalp has receded and the album has been pushed back.
Jim Jones just finished a movie and, from what I heard, its
a Blair Witch for the hood.
You probably heard this already, but Will Smith might be
playing the part of Captain America.
Hmmmm .not
sure about that one.
If I wasnt clear yesterday, I want to clarify: I think Plaxico Burress is a damn fool.
JASIRI X RETURNS!
My homey Jasiri X brings back that
political, real heat with the second season of This Week With
Jasiri X-Episode 10. Check it out.
JR WRITER VS MAX B
As you know Max B has said on the record that Jr Writer got jacked or something for his jewels or
something. Now, this rumor has been lingering around the hood for quite some time.
Anyway, Jr Writer has issued a diss
of Max B here it is:
JIM JONES NEEDS MAX B?
Uh, I dont think that Jimmy needs Max B for anything
really. It seems like hes doing OK. But, a person that recently saw Jim at the
Mercury Lounge in New York
seems to think otherwise. Obviously, everybody has opinions, but this dude
really knows Jims work. I am really not all that familiar with Jim and Maxs
working relationship, but apparently Max did a whole lot of singing on the songs.
Well, there seemed to be a stand-in doing the Max B parts, but this person
really wasnt able to carry a tune like Max. Anyway, I didnt know Max could
sing like that. I heard Jim performed in front of a live band and also had a
DJ. I heard the crowd went nuts for the old Dip Set songs though. Freakey Zeke was there and did some of his songs he did not
bite anybody though! Juelz was also there too.
Apparently there was some dude named Mel Matrix that was very impressive. There
you have it.
SHEESH!
I know when a rumor is going to start some mess and when its
not. I should know better! Like I said, I dont confirm anything on this page,
because they are all inherently false a rumors. Sooooooo .yesterday,
there was a rumor about Global Music Group, but they
have issued a counter statement of sorts. Their side changes how things are
viewed indeed.
Greetings,
I am Roland Turner the CEO of Global Music Group. I
am writing you today to show my displeasure in your website for posting rumors
and or stories about our company without even investigating the source. The
rumor today was sent to you by one of our artist FORMER employees that was
fired last week and also banned from our forum.
Global Music Group is a very reputable company with
19 great artists. I will always be available for any question and will be glad
to give full disclosure about our company.
Sincerely,
Roland Turner
Global Music Group, CEO
Roland sounds like a nice guy. I just dont need to talk to
him really.
SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END
AW, HELLLLLLL NO! This mess is going to be over by 2013!
According to a recent report by CNN, terrorists are going to attack the US with
biological weapons within the next five for so years. See the report:
Terrorists are likely
to use a weapon of mass destruction somewhere in the world in the next five
years, a blue-ribbon panel assembled by Congress has concluded.
Police watch over
travelers at New York’s
Grand Central Terminal before Thanksgiving.
They are more likely
to use a biological weapon than a nuclear one — and the results could be
devastating, the chairman of the commission told CNN.
“The consequences
of a biological attack are almost beyond comprehension. It would be 9/11 times
10 or a hundred in terms of the number of people who would be killed,”
former Sen. Bob Graham said.
He cited the flu virus
that killed millions of people in 1918 as an example.
“Today it is
still in the laboratory, but if it should get out and into the hands of
scientists who knew how to use it for a violent purpose, we could have multiple
times the 40 million people who were killed 100 years ago,” he said .
sucks. Read the full story by clicking here.
SHELZ GETS BIZZY WITH THE RUMORS & NEWS
Dupre Still Looking for Representation?
Just In case you were concerned about Violator reppin Spitzer’s favorite h#####, as I’m sure many of you
were. Violator released this statement
on Monday:
“Despite media reports, Chris Lighty
and Violator Management do not represent Ashley Dupre.
Lighty helped negotiate an interview for Dupre with Diane Sawyer, and has no further involvement in Dupre’s career.”
Now there, you may sleep well tonight.
Meth Gets Back at Flex .
This might be old. I don’t know, but the interview was like
two months ago. Anyway, Funkmaster Flex was interviewed by the good folks here at
AHH and mentioned that Method Man was the most overrated rapper he ever
encountered. Meth obviously didn’t like the statement
too much and his reply included, but was not limited to:
“He can’t even put a price tag on what I do and even
say I’m overrated because I got love out here in these streets. Can he do
that? Can he go around his way and walk
around free with his jewelry on? Hell f*ck no.
How overrated is that my dude? I ain’t bragging. I’m
just being honest. Overrated? Eat a d*ck
up until you hick up you fat f*ggot.”
Did Meth mention anything about
his lyrical ability? Flex didn’t say he
was an overrated around the way jewelry wearer. I’m just sayin..
Curtains and Fred ?
Never heard of them, but a Clark Kent co-sign is no small ish. I’m digging
through the internets right now. Check him giving his take on the state of NY
Hip Hop, something I have been pondering as well.
18 Minutes of Clarification.
I could have sworn I heard that Friends
Betrayed joint months ago. (illseed note: THAT SONG IS OLD AS DIRT!) Maybe I had it confused with something else.
Anyway, Jaz-O talks about his music and Jay and a lot
of other things; including the infamous “sh*tty deal” the Roc offered
him.
They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!

Former Philadelphia Hip-Hop rivals Beanie Sigel and Gillie Da Kid have put their differences aside and will appear on stage during a free concert next week.
The free Brotherly Love Concert, which is being presented by Nikes ACG brand, will also feature performances by Freeway, Reed Dollas, Joey Jahad and E-Ness.
The concert was the idea of Sigel himself, who is attempting to unify rappers in Philadelphia, some of whom are currently at odds with each other.
“I had an idea to put everyone together in one building and on one stage to start a movement here in Philly and promote unity, Sigel told AllHipHop.com. Plus I want to concentrate on the artist now, as I push my own label here in Philly. I want State Property Records to be the vehicle to put them on, so they don’t have to go to New York.”
At one point or another, Beanie Sigel, Gillie, E-Ness, Cassidy and most recently former Major Figgas member Dirty Rik and other rappers in the area have engaged in brutal and sometimes violent beefs.
Nike ACG hopes the concert is a watershed moment in Philadelphia Hip-Hops history that will help redefine the citys rap landscape.
The concert will take place at the Filmore on South Street in Philadelphia, PA December 11.
Doors will open at 5:00 pm.
The nine-year album drought of legendary group EPMD comes to a close in two weeks, as the duo will release their long-awaited 7th album We Mean Business.
The LP comes nearly 10 years after Out of Business (1999), then billed as the duos final studio album.
Despite that tagline, the album failed to connect with critics and fans, and to date is the only EPMD album not to go gold.
Cognizant that theyre in an era where profitable record sales are becoming scarce, member Parrish Smith detailed that unlike other old school groups EPMD has grasped the concept of not waiting on labels to create avenues for them.
Now that were in a new era and the game is changed, we realize that its different from when we handed in a CD to our first label to being at Def Jam, Smith explained. Erick and I created our own vehicle to be able to drop this album. Thats how we came with the title We Mean Business, because we do.
For the new album, the Brentwood, Long Island natives have enlisted a higher but complimentary list of guests in KRS-One, Raekwon, Havoc, Teddy Riley, Method Man, Devin the Dude, 9th Wonder, Keith Murray, and Redman.
Missing from the new album will be the trademark cutting of DJ Scratch.
Although a member of the group for 20 years, Scratch alleged in an exclusive June interview with AllHipHop.com that his departure was due to a financial/ethical dispute with Erick Sermon.
The first single for the project is the Raekwon assisted Puttin Work In.
For a limited time, those who pre-order through newburycomics.com will receive an autographed CD booklet.
Orders can be placed at http://www.newburycomics.com/rel/v2_home.php?storenr=103&deptnr=544.

ROUGH YEAR FOR YUNG BERG!
Video vixen Jeri J. has turned down the notion that she will be involved in Yung Bergs reality show. The man just wanted dark skin shawtys for his show, but the ladies wont let him apologize. She sent a note to TheYbf.com and let it be known.
This is Jeri J. I just wanted to comment on the Yung Berg post. While I dont have anything personally against Yung Berg I have no inclination whatsoever of doing any reality tv shows. I am flattered that he took notice to my work and liked my look, but I am focused solely on my modeling/acting career. Just wanted to clear up any misconceived notions about me doing reality tv, but I wish nothing but the best to Yung Berg and his team.
At least she didnt diss the lil homey! Hold on, Berg 08 is almost over!
MAYHEM AT WEBBIE SHOWS!
I dont know how this bypassed me! Webbie performed in Thibodaux, LA, on November 24th and after the show, a 20-year-old woman was shot twice in the head! Man Jeez! Somebody opened fired in a car that held her and her boyfriend. Thankfully, she lived, but is not in critical condition at a Louisiana hospital. Another man was stabbed up at a Webbie show last Friday! Club Pulse was seemingly enjoying a show in Boca Raton, FL when guns started barking. But nobody was just. A was stabbed and sent to the hospital.
NICK CANNON MAKES A MAJOR BUY!
We can expect Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey to be chillin in Aspen. I dont know if you saw it yet, but ol Nick has reportedly bought his wife a luxury spot in Aspen, Colorado. I heard this five-bed room ski lodge cost over a million bucks as a Christmas gift. Wow, Saint Nick is really coming to town early this year, eh?
DEELISHIS BREAKS OFF MARRIAGE AND A.I.?
Deelishis and her fiancée Orlando have broken up. Like we thought that was going to last.
The real strange rumor is that Allen Iverson may be involved with the Flavor of Love chick. According to rumors, A.I., Deelishis and some other chicks were seen at the Detroit MGM Grand Casino and a strip joint. Apparently, these alleged rendezvous caused the former Philly hooper to miss a pair of practices. They are saying that A.I., Deelishis and the other babes were looking very much like a foursome. These sports cats are the new rock stars, huh?
MADONNA WINS A-ROD NOT SURE
Madonna and Alex Rodriguez are in business! Apparently the pair are looking to shack up, according to the New York Post. They are looking for a spot to share in New York. If you want to get your stalk on, they are reportedly looking around Fifth and Park avenues, from just above 60th Street through the 80s. They are looking to buy for $30 million to $60 million. Dont these people know it has been officially declared a recession?! Sheeesh!
MIKE VICK PART TWO?
Plaxico Burress SMH! Man, New York is looking to throw the book at this dude now, because he had a gun that was fully loaded and unregistered. I swear these people. Check out what the NY Times reported:
The mayor also condemned Burress, saying he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Burress, out on $100,000 bail, did not have a permit to carry the handgun. He is scheduled to return to Manhattan Criminal Court on March 31. Pointing out that the police did not find out about the incident until it was reported on television, the mayor said, The hospital didnt call and the Giants didnt call, and the Giants should have picked up the phone right away, as good corporate citizens.
If I am correct, he may be victim of minimum sentencing on this one, a possible 3 years!
ILLSEEDS QUICKIES
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are reportedly going to buckle down and get married for the kids. Whats interesting is this Prop 8 stuff. Didnt they say they would get married when gay people could marry?
I was recently on Lindsay Lohans myspace page (dont ask!) and guess what she is currently listening too? I kid you not Currently listening : Mr. Me Too By Clipse How crazy is that?
Kelly has a new documentary! The Diary of Kelly Rowland watches Kelly Rowland as she tours areas of Africa stricken with AIDS. Real talk: they need to do that in America too.
Did Chaka Zulu of DTP get into some altercation? I heard something minor might have gone down. Who knows. I also heard he might be replacing Jay-Z at Def Jam.
RANDOM QUOTES
Beyonce tells Giant how hard she has to work compared to Jay:
Jay is so cool. He can just stand on stage completely still, and the audience will go nuts. Me? I have to work it! Im shaking it and throwing it and rolling around on the floor.
Do you believe?!
Despite media reports, Chris Lighty and Violator Management do not represent Ashley Dupre. Lighty helped negotiate an interview for Dupre with Diane Sawyer, and has no further involvement in Dupres career.
Sign of the Times 50 Cent losing money!? 50 talks to the Canadian Press:
I lost a couple million dollars already. I sit with my investors and business managers and accountants looking at the numbers and I’m like, Yo, the values of stocks in different areas that I invested in are decreasing! So I take the loss like everybody else.
I heard a few people dissing 50 like claiming Karma has caught him. I laugh at that notion. Just look at his bank account and then look at yours. Karma, if it is trying to find 50, it still looking.
EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY
Ahhhhh Mike Tyson is a legend no doubt, but today hes going down as a temporary fail. Iron Mike reportedly rammed his black Escalade into the visitor’s gate of a private community Thanksgiving morning. This all went down in Las Vegas. According to local ABC, “He went to the visitor’s gate, but instead of driving through the gate when it opened, he veered off and hit the closed resident’s gate,” said Action News reporter Rikki Cheese. “Tyson reportedly backed up and ripped the gate down. Metro was called, and Tyson got a ticket.”
Now, Tysons saving grace is that this may have just been an accident and the evil media is making it out to be something else. Mike managed to have his Turkey, I heard and just got a ticket. He wasnt drunk or anything.
WHEW! WHAT A POWER MOVE
Shout out to Essence…love what ya doing with the place.

Soulja Boy has delayed work on his forthcoming album to participate in the 6th annual Toyz N Da Hood charity event, which donates holiday toys throughout Atlanta during the month of December.
Toyz N Da Hood was founded by Hittmenn DJ president Robert Kaspa Smith, and is partnered with the non-profit Kids with Strong Opinions, Inc.
Together the two organizations reach out to Atlanta-based celebrities and present them with opportunities to give back to their native communities.
Their past events included participation from Chris Brown, Akon, Young Jeezy, Polow Da Don, Mr. Collipark, and Devyne Stevens.
As a Hip-Hop superstar that came from very humble beginnings, Soulja Boy jumped at the chance to assist in bringing a joyous holiday season to his young fans.
Its all about putting smiles on kids face this holiday season, Soulja Boy told AllHipHop.com. Im happy to do anything I can during these hard economic times to make a kids holiday season a little brighter. Growing up I didnt have much, so I can relate to these kids and know how important it is to them. To see how excited they get when we donate all these toys is worth anything I can do to make that possible.
A toy drive will run through December 17 at various Atlanta middle and high schools, where students will compete to collect the most toys for their school.
The winning school will earn a free concert featuring top Hip-Hop stars from the region.
Last year, the drive succeeded is disseminating over 20,000 toys. This years goal is 50,000.
On December 19, Soulja Boy hosts the centerpiece toy drive event at Atlantas Walmart, located on 6149 Old National Highway.
In addition to signing autographs and copies of his latest album isouljaboytellem.com, the collected toys will be donated to underprivileged kids and low-income families.
