According to Kendrick Lamar, his mentors, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, have dubbed him the new “King of the West Coast.”
Really?! Has Kendrick Lamar impressed that much that he is now heir to the West Coast throne? Hmmm. Check out what Kendrick recently said about the impressive title on BETs “106 & Park.”
“I know I’m ready. I know it’s a lot of responsibility, but at the same time, I put that pressure on myself.” “The first time I picked up that pen, I knew I got a legacy to carry on. My forefathers in front of me—Snoop, Dre, Game.”
Kendrick’s debut album, good kid m.A.A.d city, isn’t due out until October 2, and he admits that he still has alt more grinding to do before he can accept that title.
“I’m so honored and privileged, but at the same time, I know that them words can only go as far as I let them,” he continued. “I gotta put that grind and that work ethic in.
So will Dre, Game, or Snoop Lion be on his debut?
“I’m selfish on this album. It’s all me,” said Lamar.
