(AllHipHop News) The oral history of New Orleans rap and bounce music is set to become an exhibit at Tulane University’s Amistad Research Center thanks to the NOLA Hiphop Archive, Where They At bounce project, and contributors to a Kickstarter campaign.
Video interviews of some of The Big Easy’s most noted music artists like Mannie Fresh, Mystikal, Partners N Crime, Dee-1, Ricky B, DJ Raj Smoove, Nesby Phips, Nicky da B & Rusty Lazer, and Queen Blackkold Madina will be available online and at the institution starting in 2014.

In total more than 30 interviews will be part of the initial launch of the exhibition. Donations collected through Kickstarter will help NOLA Hiphop Archive conduct 30 more Q&A’s by the end of 2014. The funds will also assist the Amistad Research Center create listening/viewing stations and promotion for the collection.
The NOLA Hiphop Archive was founded by PhD candidate Holly Hobbs in 2012. Hobbs has worked in the New Orleans Hip Hop community as a promoter, artist manager, and musician. She is currently writing her dissertation on post-Katrina Hip Hop and recovery.
