Rapper 50 Cent has landed a new deal that will see him starring in a remake of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.”
50 Cent has been cast opposite Forest Whitaker to star in the movie, which has been re-titled Jekyll and Hyde.
Stevenson’s literary classic was originally published in 1886 and centers around a London lawyer who witnesses strange happenings between his friend Dr. Henry Jekyll and a darker character named Mr. Hyde.
Jekyll becomes Hyde, a ruthless, violent character, after drinking a mysterious potion he concocted in his labortory.
The book has been turned into a movie over a hundred times over the past century, because of its gripping tale of battle between good and evil.
Famous actors who have starred in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde include John Barrymore, Spencer Tracey, Jack Palance and Anthony Perkins.
Jekyll and Hyde starring 50 Cent is being directed by Abel Ferrara, who has lensed movies like King of New York (1990), Bad Lieutenant (1992) and Body Snatchers (1993).
At press time, no release date was available for Jekyll and Hyde starring 50 Cent and Forrest Whitaker.
