(AllHipHop News) Ab-Soul is back with his latest album Do What Thou Wilt.
The TDE emcee opens the collection with a song called “RAW (backwards)” which includes a few bars directed at Jay Electronica.
Soulo rapped in part:
I was like a swami of Jay Electronica until he
Figured Dizzle wouldn’t admit that he would body him for a milli
I told Kenny keep quiet, I’ma get him
We don’t need dirt on your hands getting the key to the city ya feel me
Hurts when your OG, who is supposed to be a G-O-D
Is standing next to King Kunta feeling like Toby
Moos what I gotta do boy?
I’m just waiting on your cue to take him to school boy!
F### all this wordplay
Top, tell these f###### stooges I’m dangerous, keep away!
Mayday
Earlier this year, Electronica took aim at K. Dot on “The Curse Of Mayweather,” but he later apologized.
The song featured J.E. saying:
Watch the throne, my n-gga, watch the throne
How you gon’ compare the king to a gnome?
How you gon’ compare Jango Fett to the clones?
The game can celebrate today cause daddy’s home
“He’s got eleven Grammy nominations, y’all not equal”
Man f-ck these white people
My grandma died at 82, scrubbin’ floors
And n-ggas still running round begging for awards
Is he Jedi or is he Sith?
Is he Neo in the Matrix or Mr. Smith?
During an interview with The Breakfast Club, Ab-Soul explained the reasoning behind his response to Electronica.
“That was a conscious decision for me to tell Kendrick not to address it. I feel like I had a spiritual relationship with Jay Electronica,” said Ab-Soul.
He continued, “Dot was going up for the Grammys. I just really didn’t like that. We’re really brothers, and Kendrick’s album wasn’t even about that. His album was a real positive album… I had to step in and say something.”
Ab-Soul told the Power 105 crew that Electronica was aware of the verbal assault before the LP was released because he performed the lyrics at Pro Era’s Steez Day Festival.
However, the Carson, California-bred spitter has not heard from J.E. about “RAW (backwards).”
