producer Dave "Disco D" Shayman continues to have an impact on the Hip-Hop

community, as fundraisers for the rapper have raised almost $10,000, which will

be used to teach DJ’ing classes at an Ann Arbor, MI teen center. According to

the Ann Arbor News, a portion of the money was raised from events in Washington

D.C. and New York, while the rest came from private donations in Disco D’s memory.

Youth at the local Neutral Zone teen center decided to use the funds to repair

an existing set of turntables, purchase studio equipment and have guest DJ’s come

in to lead workshops and teach the teens the various aspects of turntablism. The

teens also want to paint a mural on the wall in honor of Disco D’s memory. Disco

D was an upcoming producer who crafted tracks like 50 Cent’s "The Ski Mask

Way," Nina Sky’s "Turnin’ Me On," Kevin Federline’s single "Papazao"

and others. Disco D committed suicide in Jan. 2007, after suffering from depression.
