Mobb Deep member Havoc is preparing to release The Kush, a “prequel” to the rapper/producer’s first official solo album. The 12-track album was produced entirely by Havoc, who has workd with artists like Notorious B.I.G., LL Cool J, 50 Cent, Nas, The Game, Jadakiss and his own group, Mobb Deep. “I was always ready [to drop a solo-album], but the reason why it took me so long is because the timing wasn’t right,” Havoc said in a statement. “I was always working on Mobb Deep material and working with other artists and I used allot of the material I was going to use for a solo-LP for Mobb Deep records.” The album also features a guest appearance from fellow Mobb Deep member Prodigy. “Besides Prodigy, I did not want a bunch of big stars on it, as it would have taken away from the real objective of the LP, which is grimy and down to earth.” The Kush hits stores Sept. 18.
