Brooklyn based rapper Maino is celebrating the success of his latest single “All of the Above” with a gold plaque. The single, which features T-Pain, has been certified gold by the RIAA for digital sales exceeding 500,000 copies. The hot-selling digital single was produced by veteran Just Blaze. The good news comes as Maino gears up to release his debut album If Tomorrow Comes, which is due in stores on June 30. Maino recently released his new single “Million Buck” featuring Swizz Beatz.
Rapper Jim Jones was given an extra month outside of the courtroom, as his court date for an assault involving the manager of Ne-Yo has been pushed back to July, AllHipHop.com has confirmed exclusively. Jones was originally supposed to appear in court on June 4, to face charges that he assaulted Ne-Yo’s manager Javon Smith inside of the Louis Vuitton store on 57th Street in New York last December. Jones has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge, although he faces a multi-million dollar civil suit because of the incident. Jones will now face trial in Manhattan Criminal Court in July.
Mogul Jermaine Dupri is introducing his new “super-crew” to the world, Ocean’s Seven. The group consists of rapper Nelly, Usher, Bryan Michael Cox, Trey Songs, Tyrone Davis and Johnta Austin. The Ocean’s Seven crew will drop a free mixtape online tomorrow (May 29) titled Ocean’s Seven: The Mixtape. The mixtape features JD and company’s latest single, “Vegas Baby” and “So So Much Swagg.” The entire mixtape was produced by Jermaine Dupri and features appearances by Bow Wow and Q-Da Kid. Talib Kweli and Mos Def will reunite as Blackstar for a rare show this weekend (May 30) at the Nokia Theater in New York. The duo will treat fans to back-to-back performances, with one show starting at 7:00 PM and the other taking place at 11:30 PM. The Nokia Theater is located at 1515 Broadway at West 44th Street. Tickets to the show start at $39 dollars.
