Talib Kweli, Rock Ross, Fat Joe and Lil’ Flip will perform during a star-studded birthday party for Satellite radio veteran Leo G, program director for XM’s only uncut and uncensored Hip-Hop channel, XM66. Mississippi rapper David Banner will host Leo G.’s 37th birthday party, which is invitation only and takes place at popular Washington, D.C. nightclub Love. The show will be broadcast live for six hours, from 10A-4P ET on Raw (XM 66) from Love.
The 2007 Stylus Awards took place on Monday (June 4) in Toronto at the Palais Royale Ballroom. The Awards, are the brainchild of Mike Zafiris, founder of Flavor Record Pool. Baby Yu took home Club DJ of the Year, while Female DJ of the year went to Si Vu Play. K-OS’ “Sunday Morning” won Canadian Hip Hop Single of the Year, while Jim Jones’ “Ballin'” won International Hip-Hop Single of the Year. After an initial tie for College Radio Show of the Year, Static and Professor Groove of We Funk Radio on CKUT narrowly bested Jester and Chief of “Worldwide” on CIUT. The Fixxers (DJ Quik and AMG) have signed to perform during halftime games on the new Ball 4 Real Streetball Tour. The new basketball tour is made up of former And 1 players who came together to form their own nationwide street balling tour. Each tour stop features a block party before the game with prizes, food and a live DJ. Additionally, players in each local market compete for the chance to win a $100,000 contract with the Ball 4 Real Streetball Tour. Other tour stops include performances by The Shop Boyz.
