(AllHipHop News) Eminem helped make Detroit’s Hip Hop Shop famous.
The location was an early stomping ground for the platinum-selling rapper, and it served as the inspiration for the battle scenes in Em’s 2002 movie 8 Mile.
According to multiple news outlets, the Hip Hop Shop was the site of a fatal shooting on Monday afternoon.
An alleged would-be robber was killed by the 41-year-old store owner.
Police believe the owner had a license to carry a concealed weapon and the shooting was an act of self-defense.
Authorities have stated the owner claimed the man said “run your pockets” and threatened to hit him with a brick.
The 26-year-old victim was unarmed. The unnamed man’s father suggested his son sold CDs.
The Hip Hop Shop owner was taken into police custody for questioning.
