Report: Beyonce’s Music Could Be Pulled From Tidal

COULD BEY BE LEFT OUT OF HER OWN COMPANY?

(AllHipHop News) With rumors already circulating that Kanye West’s upcoming album Swish could be an Apple Music exclusive, Jay Z could have music from another member of his clique shut out of the Tidal platform. According to reports, Sony may be pulling Beyoncé’s albums from the streaming service.

Yahoo reports:

Bloomberg’s insider sources say that both Sony and Warner have been asking Tidal for huge advances in exchange for the rights to stream their artists’ catalogs. While Tidal has apparently come to an agreement with Warner, it seems the Sony deal isn’t done yet — and if Tidal can’t find the cash to pay its requested royalties, it could lose the music of Beyoncé, who just happens to be one of Tidal’s flagship artists along with being Jay Z’s wife.

The superstar singer is signed to Columbia Records which is a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. Other notable acts under the Sony Music umbrella include Snoop Dogg, OutKast, Michael Jackson, A$AP Rocky, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, Tinashe, One Direction, Adele, Pharrell Williams, and Miley Cyrus.

Beyoncé is also one of the artists listed as a part owner of Tidal. If her music is removed from the streaming service that would be a public relations nightmare for a company that is already facing criticism from the public and stiff competition from Spotify, Pandora, and Google.

This development also casts doubt on the speculation Jay and Bey are releasing a joint album via Tidal. In April, DJ Skee claimed the power couple’s collaborative effort was nearly complete.
