Long Island bred rapper Busta Rhymes is in the studio working on his new, untitled, eighth album.
Despite a year plagued with arrests and controversial headlines, Rhymes is reportedly working with various producers on the new project, including Dr. Dre and Swizz Beatz.
Rhymes has teamed up with Swizz Beatz again, to produce the single “Watch Ya Mouth,” which debuted on AllHipHop.com today (June 29).
“Watch Ya Mouth” features Busta Rhymes delivering a verse aimed at nay sayers, who question his status in the Hip-Hop game.
“Bussa Bus secure the win/How the f**k you could question if I can do it again/Look, check full of 0’s [zeros]/I cash it keep the neck full of diamonds/See how I deal with n***as that’s disrespectful,” Rhymes raps over Swizz Beatz’ signature production style.
The album is Rhymes’ follow up to The Big Bang, which hit stores in June of 2006.
The Big Bang produced a number of hit singles for Rhymes including “I Love My B***h, “New York S**t” and “Touch It,” which was also produced by Swizz Beatz.
The album was overshadowed by the shooting death of Rhymes’ bodyguard Israel Ramirez, who was gunned down on the video shoot for the single in Brooklyn, in Feb. 2006.
Rhymes was at the center of controversy, after he allegedly refused to speak with police about the shooting, drawing the wrath of the NYPD and sparking outcry from Ramirez’ family.
Rhymes has also been arrested several times this year and has been in and out of court to answer various charges, ranging from assault to drunk driving.
There is no release date attached to Busta Rhyme’s untitled album as of press time.
In the meantime, fans of Busta Rhymes can listen to his collaboration with T.I. titled “Hurt,” taken from T.I.’s upcoming album T.I. vs. T.I.P.
