Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony will host his third annual Third Annual H.O.O.D. Movement 3 on 3 Challenge, this Saturday (June 23) in Baltimore, MD.Anthony’s teammates Allen Iverson, JR Smith, Rocsi of BET’s 106th & Park, Big Tigger, Ray Lewis and others will attend the event, which is designed to foster community spirit in Baltimore.The H.O.O.D. Movement, which is an acronym for “Holding Our Own Destiny,” features a ‘3 on 3’ basketball tournament for kids aged 10-18 and a host of festivities, including carnival games, music, food, and contests.The H.O.O.D. Movement is presented by the People’s Community, Health Centers, Inc., Coca-Cola, EA Sports, Black Opal Cosmetics, Brand Jordan, The Carmelo Anthony Foundation and others.Anthony, who also owns the Hip-Hop label Kross Over Entertainment, opened The Carmelo Anthony Youth Development Center in Baltimore in 2006.Over 200 students take advantage of the CAYDC, which provides academic support, career development, life skills instruction, sports and recreation, mentoring, and motivational learning experiences as part of an after-school program.The H.O.O.D. Movement takes place from 10:00-4:00 pm at the Cloverdale Basketball Courts in Baltimore.
