Virginia-based group, Clipse have officially hit Gold status. The group’s album,
Lord Willin
debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart powered by their hitsingle “Grindin.’”
Released by Star Track, the label headed up by
mega-producers Neptunes’ deal with Arista, “Grindin” topped the
charts.
This week, the video clip for their latest single,
“When the Last Time” follows in the steps of its predecessor by becoming
the #1 most played video on MTV2 with 37 spins. Both “Grindin’”
and “When the Last Time” have held the #1 position on MTV2.
Clipse can also been seen opening for Nelly on
the first leg of his Nellyville Tour.
In related Neptunes news, group leader Pharrell
recently expressed his interest in producing a country music artist.
"I wanted to work with Faith Hill, but her
schedule was kind of crazy with her working on a film and having children,"
Pharrell told The Music Room. "I would have needed a whole lot more of
her time and it just kind of didn’t work. Hopefully in the future, when there’s
enough time, it will happen. I definitely want to work with Bonnie Raitt."
The Neptunes took home a MOBO Award in the United
Kingdom for best producers of the year.
