Common Responds To Donald Trump’s Threat To Send “The Feds” Into Chicago (VIDEO)

THE WINDY CITY REP HAS A MESSAGE FOR HIS HOMETOWN

(AllHipHop News) Chicago has been dealing with extreme violence for several years.

The city has become a symbol of urban “carnage” for some Republican politicians like Donald Trump.

Trump addressed the situation in Chicago in a recent tweet.

“If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible ‘carnage’ going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!”posted the President.

TMZ asked Hip Hop star and Chicago representative Common about Trump’s message for his hometown.

“I feel like to help Chicago, we got to take care of our own. Within the community, we got to do things,” said the Oscar and Grammy winner. “It’s a lot of people out there already organizing and doing things. We need our state and local people to do things. We don’t need that type of mentality.”

Common continued, “I’m not focused on the President right now. I’m focused on helping the people in the city and how we can do it.”

Chicago’s mayor Rahm Emanuel stated he is open to federal assistance in combating the violence, but he is not accepting of the National Guard patrolling the city.

“The place you want — if it comes to safety and security when dealing with gangs and guns — you want the federal resources that are set up to deal with that,” said Emanuel. “That is the ATF, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. That is DEA, Drug Enforcement Agency. That is FBI, the Federal Bureau of Investigations.”
