(AllHipHop News) During his 2016 SNL hosting gig, Dave Chappelle asked viewers to give the then newly elected president a chance.

After weeks of controversies and scandals, Donald Trump’s approval rating currently sits at 36% and Chappelle has changed his mind on the POTUS.

Morning Joe contributor Willie Geist attended the Robin Hood benefit in New York City where Chappelle performed.

According to the MSNBC on-air personality, Chappelle spoke about the president at the event.

“Dave Chappelle tonight in NY on his November SNL monologue: ‘I was the first guy on TV to say “Give Trump a chance.” I f***ed up. Sorry,” tweeted Geist.

Last November, Chappelle made it clear he did not back Trump during the election.

“I’m not a Trump supporter,” stated the comedic legend.

Chappelle also took issue with media outlets for publishing articles that misquoted him saying he was backing the Republican candidate.

The original source for that story was The Observer, a publication run by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
