(AllHipHop News) The South has been a dominant force in Hip Hop for over two decades. Radio personality Ebro Darden believes the South’s run is close to coming to an end. The Hot 97 and Beats 1 host addressed a Twitter user’s question about southern-based music by writing, “What a day when the tables will turn… They always do.. South running out of steam… Future all they got left.”

Ebro then began responding to other tweets from users that took issue with his comments. In particular, fans pointed out that North Carolina’s J. Cole is one of the biggest rappers in the game at the moment.
According to Ebro, Cole’s success should be credited to his move to New York City. He even mentioned Kendrick Lamar claiming to be the “King Of New York” on his infamous “Control” verse as evidence NYC is still the center of the Hip Hop universe.
