Rapper Eve will experience more than the glamour and glitz of the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend, as she participates in the first ever “Ballin’ and Beats” charity event, presented by the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and Converge Entertainment.

 

The event, which will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 8), is designed to foster community support and outreach, by featuring various events such as a life and basketball clinic, 3-on-3 basketball tournament and concert to benefit The Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas.

 

Eve, along with singers Nelly Furtado and Ne-Yo, will be on hand for four workshop sessions.

 

“Most people attend the VMA’s for an incredible awards show and amazing parties. However, we want to encourage celebrities to donate some time and energy towards helping local children who could benefit immensely from their stories and more importantly their secret to success,” said former NFL Quarterback and Converge Entertainment founder Jay Fiedler . “We are excited about working with the Boys and Girls Club Las Vegas and MTV on what will be one of the most exciting events for 400 deserving kids.”

 

Various sessions will focus on teamwork, perseverance, self confidence, aimed at in increasing motivational and leadership traits using the sport of basketball and music.

 

In addition to a DJ tutorial and the various workshops, Ballin’ and Beats will hold a roundtable discussion titled “Kids Q&A.” with Fiedler and six time NBA all star Grant Hill.

 

FLX from MTV Jams will host a concert, which will feature performances by DJ Honda, PM, Saukrates and the Shop Boyz, who are nominated for a MTV Video Music Award for Monster Single of the Year.

 

Led by Continental Basketball Association (CBA) professionals and coaches, the 3-on-3 tournament will give fans and celebrities the chance to compete against each other for awards and prizes.
