Island Def Jam artist Fabolous hit # 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Chart and #2 on The Billboard 200 Chart with his latest release, From Nothing to Something.
According to Soundscan the CD, which was released on June 12th, sold over 158,640 copies its first week in stores, making it Fabolous’ biggest first week of sales in his career.
“My game plan was to keep it in the same light as I did with Real Talk: to make it real diverse and versatile,” Fabolous told AllHipHop.com in a previous interview. “I feel like that’s the kind of artist I am, but at the same time step it notch and make it relevant to what’s going on in the game and take a chance on what’s not going on in the game.”
From Nothing to Something is Fabolous’ first release in over two years.
The album features appearances by Young Jeezy, Rihanna, Lloyd, Swizz Beatz and Akon.
From Nothing to Something also features production from a variety of top names, including Timbaland, Polow Da Don, Just Blaze, Jermaine Dupri, Jazze Pha, and Steve Morales.
“I had fun working with a lot of producers because it was still like another learning experience for me,” Fabolous said. “This is the album that I believe will connect me unlike all my albums before.”
Fabolous’ third single “Make Me Better,” was produced by super-producer Timbaland and features fellow Def Jam artist Ne-Yo.
The rapper will perform “Make You Better” with Ne-Yo at the 6th Annual BET Awards on June 29th.
