Fyre Festival Organizers Reportedly Facing FBI Fraud Investigation

THERE’S EVEN MORE BAD NEWS FOR JA RULE & HIS PARTNERS

(AllHipHop News) There’s even more bad news for Billy McFarland and Jeffrey “Ja Rule” Atkins, the organizers of the Fyre Festival.

After being hit with numerous lawsuits, the disastrous event that was supposed to take place in the Bahamas is reportedly under investigation.

According to the New York Times, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are looking into possible crimes.

A prosecutor assigned to the complex frauds and cybercrime unit is said to be investigating if Fyre Media took part in mail, wire, and securities fraud.

“That’s not fraud, that’s not fraud,” Ja Rule is quoted saying at a May meeting. “False advertising, maybe – not fraud.”

The event was promoted on Instagram by “social media influencers” Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and other celebrities.

Vice News published audio of a conference call which included a Fyre employee asking McFarland if she should be concerned about the FBI.

“That’s really more of an individual thing,” replied the 25-year-old entrepreneur.

In addition, many individuals and businesses were not paid for their work connected to the festival.

Fyre Media also owes over $330,000 in customs fees to the Bahamian government.

Ja Rule previously served time in prison for illegal gun possession and tax evasion.
