G.O.O.D. Music's Malik Yusef Talks Kanye West's "Yeezus" Follow-Up Album

KANYE WEST’S NEXT ALBUM IS BEING DESCRIBED AS “A PAIR OF TIMBERLANDS”

(AllHipHop News) Details about the upcoming album from Kanye West has been kept fairly secretive. Besides a few club goers who claimed to have heard some tracks and then portions of the song “All Day” leaking to the internet, not much is known about the Yeezus follow-up project.

Rolling Stone spoke with a G.O.O.D. Music insider about the album. Frequent Kanye collaborator Malik Yusef said about the project:

This album is different. It’s like a pair of Timberlands; like how Timberlands are not quite leather and not quite suede. It’s not the smooth, slick Chicago music sound we have right now and it’s not the ruggedness of just ‘hip-hop hip-hop hip-hop.’ We’re still working like a motherf**ker. We’ve been all around the world [recording].

The creator of 2009’s G.O.O.D. Morning, G.O.O.D. Night LP also revealed Kanye has completed about 20 songs. Unlike the constant fight over the direction of Yeezus, Yusef says this go around was much smoother.

“It was definitely a war,” described Yusef. “It’s ‘I don’t give a f**k, Malik. It’s a Kanye album, not a Malik Yusef album.’ Kanye’s kicked me off the label eight times.”
